Tryin' Too hard ?
Deathgoblin replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Overall, it's not a bad design. There are some elements I would've done differently. It looks like there's about a foot of extra space on the nose, looking at the gaps between the engine and firewall and the engine and grille. I would have tightened those up. And it seems the frame is almost too flat, there's no curve to it at all. It gives the car a stance like a lawn tractor. The grille is just someone's attempt at a Model T-type radiator. But the main thing is that if it makes the owner happy, then it's perfect. -
For my birthday, a couple of my dearest friends gave me a $20 gift certificate for a local hobby shop. I went there today and got a Revell 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 and only paid about $2 out of pocket. It was a good birthday.

fast and the furious 95' Mitsubishi Eclipse
Deathgoblin replied to captin's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'll definitely watch this one. I'm just finishing up the Supra kit from this line. I'll have to post pics. -
Revell - 1977 "Bandit" Pontiac Firebird (Trans Am!)
Deathgoblin replied to Drake69's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I know this is probably a stupid question, but looking at the parts, is this a new tool? It looks fantastic. -
That's gorgeous. I love the paint job!

Just got this one in yesterday. I remember this one being a fun and detailed kit. I hope my memory serves me correctly.

Who else has had a disaster build?
Deathgoblin replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't had one really fight me yet. I figure I'll probably have one before too long. Right now I've got a Jo-Han 1970 olds in the dip, that might be the one. I've noticed the plastic is awfully brittle. -
Neat custom work, there. Is it gonna be a V8 or V12?

"Low-tus" Europa Special... final assembly!
Deathgoblin replied to jaymcminn's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The Europa always looks to me like they stuck the nose of a Dino onto a ute rear end. I'd definitely have to remake the top if I get one of these. -
Am I the first to lose a model?
Deathgoblin replied to sportandmiah's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Had that happen twice recently. First with my F&F Supra, missing the lower gravel shield and top suspension mounts. Took me forever to find a cheap enough gluebomb for the replacement piece. And the 2007 Charger police cruiser had all the clear pieces missing for the light bars sometime between when I got it and when I went to put it together. -
darkening panel lines
Deathgoblin replied to my80malibu's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I did the panel lines on my police Charger with a grey brush pen over the white paint. just wipe off the excess and it looks awesome. -
I think this is why I haven't bothered with any contests yet. I build for me, mostly. If the guys at the model car club like them too, great. I'm really not interested in taking home awards. But each build gets a little better than the last, and I always try new stuff on each one, so maybe one day I'll try a contest.

Stupid things we do.
Deathgoblin replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yes to any and all of the above. Stabbed myself in the thumb earlier with my exacto knife while trying to disassemble a glue bomb. -
Who sells metal dash knobs?
Deathgoblin replied to cruz's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I used pins and chrome ring-shaped beads for knobs on my 71 charger conversion. They looked great. -
I've got a Jo-Han 1970 Olds Cutlass coming in from Quebec. It's a little beat up but complete and salvageable. Not bad for $20

Hand painted bodies? (brush painted)
Deathgoblin replied to wagonguy1989's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very nice work! I love the tangerine color on the 32. I used to try and brush paint bodies when I was younger. I can get away with it on the interiors, but would never be brave enough to do the outside anymore. Your work is beautiful. -
1. I'm an Air Force brat. My dad has been out of the service since 1978. 2. I'm named after two book characters - from Trixie Belden.
