Stash and building epiphaies
george 53 replied to Rider's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
RHOADIE, it wasn't a bad topic in MY opinion, just kind weird. But Hey, It WAS your call to do as you pleased, so if you did what you felt YOU needed to do, good for you! If ANYBODY had the right to "Terminatory Deletion" YOU was the man! -

I can't speak for anyone but myself(an sometimes I can't do THAT right! ) BUT it appears that particular topic faced the"Terminatory Key of Deletion!!!" and lost!!!! -

removing paint with simple green
george 53 replied to modeltrucker's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The purple pond won't even TOUCH the stuff Revell used to paint their 63/64 Low rider kits! Even after a MONTH it didn't remove it! All it did was make it easier to SCRAPE the paint off with my finger nail. S.G MAY take longer, but it WON'T hurt you either. And ANY smell that it leaves will go away once you paint it. Who SMELLS a model anyway??? -
Lookin good, Len. As for the prime grey on the floorpan, I NEVER saw a red ELPO dip. ALL our Cadillacs were grey dipped. Although I understand this is an Olds, G.M. was/is FAR TOO cheap to buy different types of E.D to make it cost effective. So I am assuming your choice of color for that particular item IS correct. The rest of it looks pretty good too! Keep 'em comin' Daddy-O, she's lookin good!!!

Welp, it COULD be an Otaki 1/12th scale model of one of the UGLIEST Mustangs ever made, or it COULD be a REAL version of one of the UGLIEST Mustangs ever made.Hate to hurt Envious's feelings, but 71 on up, they ceased to be "Pony cars" AND attractive! The 70's were NOT kind to the Mustang! 70 was the LAST year they were attractive for that decade!!! And to me, the headlights are what make it look REAL to me!

Pat Redmon was there, so was I.He was taken pics. If you missed it, OOOO SHAME on you!!! I bought Bud's Ferrari TestaRossa 250 WITH photo etched wire wheels(21 bucks just for the WHEELS) for TEN BUCKS!!!! THAT was the BEST deal at the show! My wife and I had a GREAT time, and ALOT of the DMCC members were there too! In fact THEY were responsible for putting on the display of ALOT of Buds finished models. I hope he liked it. I know I miss him! All the money raised by his model sales went to Ginger(Mrs.Bud) to help her out.

ARF ARF,WOOF!!! Great builds Sal, keep'em commin!!! WOOF!!!

Bill, I've got one. the body only cost me 10 bucks from Jimmy at the MCCC toy show. He recommends using the Maisto die cast Corvette for the chassis and interior. One of the guys in our club built his already, and used BMF for the grille, Head and tailights. Just foil 'em and paint the tailights with Tamiya's stop light red, and your good to go. His came out REALLY nice, Hope mine turns out just as nice! Give it a try, for the money invested, you'll be one of the few that has one!(besides US)

Fella's it's the Stumps fittyist Birthday! I don't really KNOW if he's goin blind on us, but I HAVE noticed he's buildin in 1/12th scale 'stead of 25th, which is his USUAL scale!!! Let's give him our GREAT MCM B-Day wishes, an if we're lucky, he MIGHT even show us the finish of his BEAUTIFUL 1/12 scale Datsun 240 Z he's been goin crazy on! Happy Birthday Greg!!!!

There ya go,Scott! Man the paint REALLY came out nice! Ya know,I've got that Ferrari kit, but I've never even opened the box! Looks like I might have to check it out. Yours came out NICE! yes, by ALL means,Please post more of your kits, they look great!

OOO, the 66 Stutz'll be a COOL build! I saw one built up a thousand years ago, in a Public Library of all places! I thought it was REALLY cool then, it'll be even COOLER seein one done by you! The Buick looks great. I got promo's of both a 59 and a 60, but they're both so cool I don't have the heart to cut into them!
-
GREAT SCORE,Gary!!! You got you ALOT more'n 30 bucks worth of stuff there daddy-O! It should keep ya busy for a while(an THEN some!) Welcome back! Just remember that things HAVE changed since you been gone Bro, an it'll cost ya a LITTLE more for kits when you run outta your "Grab bag" stash. GREAT SCORE! DMCC (Dearborn) Meeting pics
george 53 replied to PatRedmond's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Pat, GREAT pic's as usual. I'd personally would like to thank you for being the "official" club photog. You do a great job every month, an the guys get to see what talented builders we got in it! Keep up the great work, it REALLY is appericiated! -
Welp, at least you got it lookin JUST as ugly as the REAL one. Not that your NOT a talented builder, but you chose an UGLY(To ME) car to model, and unless you do something drastic to it, it'll STAY an UGLY(to ME) reproduction of an ugly(to ME) car. Please understand this IS NOT a critisism of your talents or abilities. You seem to be MORE than capable of the task at hand. But,like I said, I think it's just a bad blending of ideas, and to see the real one, I was just NOT impressed with it at all. Actually made me wonder WHY someone would've done it in 1:1 scale. just 'caz they could,DOES NOT mean they should have! But, AND I EMPHSIZE That this is just MY personal opinion about this car, and in NO WAY reflects ANYTHING negative on your abilities. If YOU like it Bro, then please by all means,GO FOR IT!!! ( But I STILL think it's ugly)

Elm City Hobbies - November Update
george 53 replied to Scott - Elm City Hobbies's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
Sorry to dissagree Len, NO disrespect intended to you, BUT this guys JUST advertising for his BUISNESS. He hasn't posted any thing RELAVENT to this board, JUST his buisness. AND it IS prohibited to SELL on the board. At least the other guys who DO sell their buisness items ALSO post their builds(Sorry to use an UN-word) or at least post comments related to the builds(there's that un-word again)that others post. This gentleman ONLY posts items about his sales of overpriced items. Sorry,Bro, but I can't agree, And I'm NOT sure, but I THINK this is what others call "Spamming"? -
Harry, 66 GTO'S were cab on chassis bodied. they were a complete cab from the firewall(cowl) back.the front fenders and wheelhouses were separate. Unibodied cars were built from the radiator support all the way back to the rear tailight/trunk valance. and are not bodies on chassis cars,as they have their chassis built INTO them.

OOOO,Jeff, thas nazz! How much,an are ya bringin it to tonites meeting???

Can you identify these wheels ???
george 53 replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill, yes, from the looks of them, their design, they do look like they might be early AMT's. maybe off one of the compacts(nova, buick, or pontiac) They DO look kinda like Vega stock wheels, but AMT didn't do a stock Vega kit IIRC. Hope someone can get ya closer, cause this is the best I can do. Can someone help a brutha out here guys??? -
Ryan, i DON'T really think tha skwiols got muchava choice! this here's his paybacks fer givein the Capt'n such a hard time!!!
