Resin Casters, refused to buy parts?
george 53 replied to mannyclub's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know QUITE a few casters and call them my friends, not just guys I know who cast. NONE of them will cast someone elses stuff. Their morals won't let them. They're ALL honest guys and just wouldn't do it. We've talked about it and that's how they feel about it. -
At least it was made in the right place. although i thought the white with blue stripes waz kinda snappy!
-
Mostly, Hadi. But we let die cast models in too! Seriously Hadi, most of us enjoy ANY kinda well built model. Heck, we even enjoy NOT so well built models as long as ya show yer TRYIN!! If you hang with us long enough, and follow some of the tips the guys give, you CAN'T HELP but get better. Please go ahead and post your builds. we WON'T laugh, and you might get some usefull tips on how to get better,IF ya need 'em! WELCOME Hadi, your home now.

Mad Max Interceptor
george 53 replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
What kit would you convert it from? It's an Oz car and I've never seen one to use as a base. Is it a complete kit, and not a conversion? -
ONE reason I love cuttin plastic, If you can't buy it you can still build it! Nice idea, too bad GM didn't think this out of the box.Nice build.

MY 1991 4 DOOR CADILLAC Brougham d'elegance BUILD!
george 53 replied to ROB213's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Robert, If I remember correctly, there MIGHT have been two different Interior patterns,.The button tuft seats were cloth, a velourish type of material, nicer than the "Mouse Fur" that comes in them now. The leather interior MAY have been of a different pattern, for the simple reason that it was leather. My mother retired from the Livonia Fisher Body Plant where they made/sewed the interiors for various G.M. models, includeing Cadillac. Once again, I GOTTA hand it to you! You GO bro!!!!! -
Looks REAL good Steve, did you paint the body white, or is it just white plastic?Came out so well i actually can't tell.

How Technologically Savvy Are You?
george 53 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nope nuthin nada. I get my daughter to do stuff for me on the computer. I've owned a cellphone for 15 years easy, but still can't text. Don't really want to know. why text when i can call. It's really just another way to take your money. -
Jimmy Flintstone quality?
george 53 replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To say Jimmy's models are HIGH quality is a BIT of a stretch there. I met Jimmy MANY times an have bought a few of his castings, and they ALL needed a BIT of work. NONE of his stuff is up to DRAG or Modelhaus quality, but like was said, for the PRICE, you can't do any better! He IS a nice guy and sells his stuff at shows for almost give away prices.I've NEVER paid more than 10 bucks at a show for one of his bodys.Good guy to deal with. -
Today I Lost My Best Friend!
george 53 replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I sent my Freddie home after 11 years, on 1st of Nov. of 10. Your Rex probably had heartworm BEFORE you found him. The stuff you buy in the large retail stores is THE SAME STUFF the DR.s Prescribe. As LONG as you buy a BRAND NAME NOT cheap knock off meds. You can get ANY prescription for heartworm PREVENTATIVE (again, BRAND NAME)at K-Mart, Miejers or GOOD Pet center. (Notice I left wal-mart out, as they ONLY sell cheap chinese knockoff products). You did what you could, and Rex knew it. My Freddie contracted Cancer, and there was NOTHING i could do. NOTHING. I watched my little dog just get weaker and weaker. HE told me it was time, and when it was, I had to do right by him. So i sent him home. I KNOW that IF i get there, He'll be there , waitin for me, and he'll have scared ALL them dam nasty ass squirrels outta Paradise! I FEEL your pain.We NEVER forget. Rest in Peace, Rex and Freddie. -
Silly Putty® Wheel Mask -- A Quick How-To by ChillyB
george 53 replied to Chillyb1's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
AFTER you spray over the SP, does it turn colors? or mix it back to it's original state? I wonder if it is used too many times does it wear out? -
Just got a 68 Coronet that had the front wheels hogged out like that. I used the front fenders from the 70 Superbee to fix them. Used the same technic you did. Came out pretty good if i say so myself! I love cuttin up plastic!

Harry, EVERYBODY knows it's a 1970 BLAHHH. Yeesh Harry. An Virge, yer right, THANK GOD they don't make'em like THAT anymore!!!

Source for scale cobblestone street?
george 53 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Harry, Plastruct makes a 7x10(i think it is)cobblestone sheet that looks GREAT as a road. I don't know for sure, it COULD be Evergreen Plastics too, not sure, but i got some a while back, and it worked great for what i needed it for. A little drybrushing with some dirty colored wash and it looks even better! -
Rodelio(Nice name) , you GAVE this away???? I give models away occasionally, but THIS is something that goes above and beyond just regular ol friendship. After all the work in it, i sure hope your friend appericiated it!!! Welcome to the forum, with skills like yours, you'll fit RIGHT IN here! WELCOME!!! :D

Not really, Virge, caz if you like cars, You'll like ALOT of the stuff DM makes. They're the folks that got me tobuy Die Cast models. My first die cast was their little green (51?) Pickup. It's the EXACT copy of my Grandfathers truck. Now I have well over 50 of their models and look forward to more. They ARE that nice bro. But I think they MAY be a BIT TOO shiney fer ol eyegore to want them as they are. He'll want to dirty them up, OR worse!!!
-
Got this. IF you don't have one, you'll be VERY pleasantly suprised at it. It's like a jewel, it's so perfect! I like the Danbury Mint much better than the Franklin Mint. Seems like DM puts more thought and detail into their models. But that's just my opinion.

Worlds Rarest Automobile
george 53 replied to dougp's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's EXACTLY what it is. -
Or you could just buy a dizzy from MAD and be done with it. Not all of us have access to a modeling drillpress, and the one in my garage is TOO big to even TRY chucking a modeling bit small enough for drilling plug holes out.
-
If ya used the KIT shiftyer and did that, then it's a modded KIT part. I would THINK it still came under the OOB rules. You DIDN'T substitute the part, only modded it.Can't honestly see how that could be wrong.

My good buddy, Johnny Boy Thorman, had one of these with a 304 V-8 and a 4spd, with the Levi bluejean interior. That car was LETHAL!!! keeping it in a straight line wasn't too bad, but the acceleration of it was monster!!!
-
Well at least you guys are HONEST!!! My best freind moved down there about 6 years ago, an he claims I'm lyin. HE says HE ain NEVER seen Scorpions OR rattlesnakes. I told him he better quit walkin around blindfolded or he WILL MEET them! I been there a few times(and ALWAYS GLAD to come home)and I've seen them EVERYTIME i was there. They showed on the News that a gator was in the ladies kitchen , came in THRU a screened door, an the guy in the house COULDN'T do ANYTHING to it. I guess they LIKE gators in kitchens in Florida. If you CAN'T kill an animal as big as that, IN YOUR HOUSE, I guess that's one of the reasons Bush got elected in Fla. My Buddy's in Ellenton, about 30 miles from Tampa/St.Pete. If cities that large can have them.ain't NO way they aint in those smaller wooded two lane places that reminde folks of Wisconsin!!! Like I said, Nice place to visit........
