Brand New 65 Mustangs
george 53 replied to Skydime's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's for the CAB, not the front fenders or the hood, Or the glass, or the wireing, yadda yadda yadda. It's THE way to go if you gonna restore a rusted out body, but all the little things, nuts, bolts, etc. are the REAL cost killers! If you have a ate up body an can use all the trim, chrome, interior(another 10 G ifyou gonna go all optioned out)from, you can save alot. But to build the WHOLE CAR from them will cost you a pretty penny. Better off haveing a reputable specialty shop build it for you, at least it'll be done right, even if it does cost you the family jewels! -
Actually Harry, I once DID paint a 67 Barracuda with some liquid Kiwi BLACK shoe polish and a Q-tip! It cane out pretty smooth too, the Q-tip leaves no brushstrokes! That one died in a terriblebly massise pile up in my alley! Jeeeze I could shoot myself for some of the STUPID stuff i did to my models back then!!!!

Best opening scene from a movie ever!
george 53 replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pete, if your talking about at the very opening of the movie, where the picture splits then splits again, and again, then YES THAT was some very creative cinematography! I saw Gran Prix at a surround cinema theatre(a BIG thing in the 60's)and it was pretty cool. Always been among my favorite car movies -
I've done this conversion a few times now, an other than some slight trimming on the stock JoHan interior to clear the AMT rear wheelwells, you can get away with useing the JoHan interior, IF you want. All JoHan 69 thru 70 Mopars, and MPC based 68 thru 70b body kits can use the AMT chassis with VERY LITTLE modifications. This is a GREAT easy conversion.Your doin great and you will be ALOT happier with the results!

Supercharged Inline 6
george 53 replied to Swampdonk's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks good. All the blown straight sixes I've ever seen were either with the blower monted in front of rge motor driven off the crank, or with the blower mounted vertically with the intake mounted to the side of the engine, blowing thru a manifold modified to use the blower. Yours looks more natural! It's commin out good Bro, let 'er rip! -
Paulie,Paulie,Paulie, Jeff said he was THINKIN about it, homes, NOT that it was in the works! You know if he THINKS about he MIGHT get the idea ta DO it! So jus let him think his butt off! THAT'S ALOT of thinkin!!!

Before GarySchmitd sold the ORIGINAL Scale Auto Enthus. he would have an April Fool issue every year. I remeber really goofy stuff, like the value of the AIR in an old vintage SEALED kit. Or the Invisible plastic spray. He used an old clear GTO nascar body to show it's effects on plastic. Those were cool and gave his magazine an "It's OUR joke" kinda feelin. I think a goofball article every know an then(like April Fools Day)would be pretty cool, an be something to look forward to. Just sayin....

george 53 replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am! I'm gonna get a few of the Olds's the 57 and the vette. If, like Chuck says, MAYBE they sell enough 57's we'll GET a 58 THAT would be a cool ride too. But I'll settle for a new tool 57! -

Will, The series MAY take us there, and it probably will show us how to do a little more than the basics. Gregg HAS published "How To's" on basic casting before in the magazine, so it seems this may be more in depth, and may go as far as to actually mold a complete body. (lets hope so)

Does Resin Have a Shelf Life?
george 53 replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Guy's Chris is from England, so maybe they still call them that there. Chris, Kelvinators have been gone from here for over FIFTY years, the name too, unless your talkin smack on AMC products! But don't worry, caz I STILL call 'em Iceboxes!!! -
50 year old Falcon promo getting a new lease
george 53 replied to 62rebel's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I got a red 64 Falcon promo quite a while back, and I used the 68 AMT Mustang chassis and engine compartment from it. They really fit well too. Maybe the chassis of the 61 is similar, and you could use it also. Hth. -
WOW! the cracked leather REALLY looks good! I've seen Caddy's that old, an darned if the leather doesn't crack an split just like that! GREAT job!

Can anyone ID the caster of this '50 Nash?
george 53 replied to Chuck Most's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Chuck, Juha Ario is a wizard, or a magician, or a wizgician! He's not really a human. I THINK he's an alien with the ability to SHRINK cars that likes to teleport them back to his planet so THEY can be cool too! But don't quote me on that!
