  1. I don't see where the bad news is here. ??
  2. And tha And that's my point. Machines are expensive. Research is expensive. People smart enough to use them are expensive to employ.
  3. Yes, but you couldn't get it done for less than 50 bucks.
  4. Maybe you should tell yourself we're lucky they don't cost more. I know nothing about the process of designing or building a kit but it seems tough. Imagine if I gave you a block of white plastic and said, here make a nice and accurate model with 150 pieces of this car right here.
  5. I build all kinds of models and each kind have something that can stop me dead in my tracks. Might be something I struggle with or something I just hate doing. Tanks - I hate doing the tracks. Planes - Seam and putty and rescribing eventually start driving me nuts. Cars - I'm poor getting a great gloss finish. But what stops me the most is losing interest in a current project because of my impatient interest to start a new one.

Good looking model. And good job getting the photos posted. You're a better man than me. I've never learned to do that unfortunately. I'm sure it's fairly simple once you know how. But I find it's easier to just not post pictures.
  7. "Perfect" will be defined differently by different modelers. What I call "perfect", the next modeler may call ######. We all have an individual amount of talent, time, and dedication that we are prepared to put into a model. Models I built 10 years ago, I thought were awesome. Now I look at them and laugh. Hopefully in ten years I will have improved enough to laugh at the work I currently do.
  8. Modeling to me is like golf. The better you get, the more frustrating it becomes, the more anxiety it creates. I can shoot 69 on the golf course and I'm frustrated the entire day. I hit no fewer good shots nor any less bad shots than the guy who shoots 85. Its just that my definition of good and bad is quite higher. With models I used to buy a kit and build it right out of the box in a week or two. Didn't sand seams, added no extra details, etc. And when they were done I thought they were just fantastic. Now that I'm better I sweat every little detail. Once you see what some guys can accomplish it makes you very frustrated that you can't quite do as good a job. But like with golf, if it weren't stressful and frustrating, I wouldn't enjoy it.
  9. I shave/sand them off, use decals, and cover in dullcote. Looks awessome.
  10. Great looking build. I'm almost finished with this one. You have any issues with the front windshield fitting properly??
  11. Wow, this brings back memories. I worked there when they went bankrupt. Liquidated my store right down to the toilets. What a poorly run company. I learned how not to run a business by working there. Anyway, Great looking car and build though!! I would actually enjoy doing a Heilig-Meyers build.
  12. Wow. I obviously don't analyze this to the degree that some of you do. If I see something I want, I bid up to the amount I'm willing to pay. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't. Not so sure why so many allow ebay to get their panties in a knot. I have found some great deals and have had zero negative experiences to date.
  13. I'm scared to post anything on this website in fear I may have the wrong category. So generally, I just sit back and watch.
  14. Thanks Dave. I am not disciplined in washing my parts. Bodies, yes. Everything else, no.
  15. Nope, no silicone in the area. I would just assume it was the white. "Racing White" to be exact. But it had worked fine on other parts earlier in the day.
  16. I've used Tamiya rattle cans forever and always had nice results. Yesterday, I primed some parts in their grey primer. Went on great. But then when I sprayed the white on top, it fisheyed and puddled in the crevices. All kinds of issues. And the white had worked just fine a few hours earlier on some other parts.
  17. I'm a huge Formula 1 fan, and a huge Nascar fan. Indy racing is sort of like a combo of the two and thus it seems I would like it. But I can't get into it. But I do always watch the 500 and yesterday was no different. But it's the 3rd most important race of the day these days.
  18. Yes, all of them! What's more intersting than an F1 race?! It's the only thing I will wake for in the middle of night.
  19. I do nothing. I've built hundreds of models. I've never photographed one. Some make on the shelf. Some go back in the box. Some go in the garbage eventually. I've never felt the need to share any of them. I'd like to but I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to digital cameras and uploading photos and anything concerning electronics. For me, it's a very solitary hobby.
  20. It's a yearly tradition for me to sit on the couch from 7:30am til the 600 is over. Best day in sports... by far. I told my girlfriend I'd be off the grid tomorrow.
  21. I've had lots of success with Tamiya - especially the rattle cans. The acrylics airbrush fantastic too. I have trouble getting a decent result from Testors cans. I consider them junk and don't buy them anymore.
  22. I picked one up at my LHS just yesterday. Not sure if the new release is any different? You can preorder the new one at at least 1 site I saw.
  23. It's nothing for me to have 4, 5, or 10 going at once. I think all the projects sitting around in various stages of completion are nice to look at. The WIP's I worry about are the ones in the box under the bed.
  24. Yep, better tell everybody your last name. Or people will soon start flipping out.
