  1. working on the new '68 GTO from AMT. I still have some things that are going to be added such as the rearview mirror in the interior, Engine parts radiator hose ect, and the outside mirrors. Chassis donated from a AMT '69 Oldsmobile.
  2. Wal-Mart has marked down Pinty plus acylic ralevolution spray paints $5.00 a can. I bought gloss Traffic blue, Gloss Traffic red, and Matt Jet black @ $5.00 per can. Sky blue was still $8.97 as was the Orange paint. But Mint green, a yellow, white, black colors, another red color and a couple shades of gray are all marked down to $5.00 per 10.9 oz can. Pinty plus also has a web site that show's 33 water based Pinty Plus Evolution 10.9 oz gloss paint colors and 5 Matt colors. There is a total of 6 different shades of blue
  3. While you are correct that the MPC '72 GTO chassis ect will work. It's just as not nicely detailed as the chassis from the 69 Oldsmobile kit. Three thing's standout against using the '72 Chassis. First is the front suspension, Second the pipes molded to the rear axle and the cutouts on the gas tank for the annual's screws. This don't include the poor rendering of the strike plate on the front suspension, The '69 Oldsmobile's chassis is close to what a '68 GTO had.
  4. Sorry that I didn't have photo's when I started this thread, but my camera batteries were dead. So here are the needed photo's. The chassis plate (white) is the GTO Next to it is the '69 Chevelle chassis, and under the GTO is the '69 Oldsmobile's Chassis plate.
  5. I just got the new AMT '68 Pontiac GTO kit and as nice as it really is It to me needs a better detailed Chassis. So I looked at the '69 Chevelle also by amt But even though they are sisters the chassis is just a bit short in wheel base. So on to the second sister the AMT '69 Oldsmobile 442, which I found has the same wheel base as the GTO kit, and fit's the interior bucket as well. So when I start building the '68 GTO it will have the detailed Olds chassis, firewall and other under the hood items as well.
  6. Started out on the Our Gang series under his real name, and was one of the first child actors to make it to a good Adult movie/TV career.
  7. The race truck was the Transtar 4300. As for IH truck models from Ertl: Transtar 4070 A, Transtar 4200, Paystar 5000 Dump, Cement mixer, Logger, Highway hauler, Transtar II, Transtar 4300, S-Series 2575 2674 (the 2674 came in 2 veriations one Highway the other a dump truck. then came the Transtar 4300 race truck followed by the 1/32 scale IH 9670 Eagle. Other IH kits ertl made: Payhauler 350, 1466 Farm Tractor, Farm wagon, plow. Then there are the IH Scout II's One year only'76 Scout II followed by the '77 Scout II, Scout II Off Road, and the Scout II SS Off road. Side Note: the 76 Scout II was the first issue which has the '76 grill design. it was followed closely with the '77/78 grill design. The '76 was molded in Orange while the 77/78 was in yellow. The artwork on the box was changed some to reflect the 77/78 grill .The second issue 77/78 scout was recently reissued in retro box art, and molded in Yellow.
  8. when Ertl issued the Paystar 5000 kit's there were 4 of them. The Cement truck, Dump Truck, Logging truck, and a highway hauler which was basically the logger without the trailer. The Logger is easy to do from either of the other three kit's as the AMT logging trailer has the parts that go to the semi. Anyway even the Highway truck can be made from the Dump truck by using the rear tires from a Transtar 4300 kit along with the complete fifth wheel.
  9. Gee I must have gotten lucky when I bought mine from Hobby Lobby. No parts were warped, But I did shorten the frame some, I also changed the front bumper, and put a front axle from a AMT International Harvester under it as well. I didn't build it as the hide out rig either.
  10. And yet Here's this real one.
  11. Interior to Lindberg '67 Olds 442. AMT is reissuing it.
  12. She was Lind Rogo in the Original The Poseidon Adventure. Crazy that two films that she was known for were later rebooted film! The Nutty professor and Poseidon!
  13. Sorry to hear that Carl, Battling MS for so long sure wouldn't be fun! It rob's people of so much as does MD... Keep the Faith !
  14. Carl that's the way Jay Leno enjoys his collection , By driving each one once and a while so they aren't Garage queens like if they were in say a museum..... (it's also better for the car/truck/bike to be used once and a while than to just sit there looking nice.)
  15. Well I learned how to lay paint by a man who did so to provide for his family. My late father was a paint expert who worked for IH/Navistar for 30 years in which 28 years in the paint department. So with that being said I dont lay paint on thick when painting any models. I'm fairly sure I am not the only one that has had the tacky rust-o;ium paint issues. IH's Metallic emerald green paint was a pita according to him as it always had issues in one way or another. This '63 Nova wagon was painted with all Krylon short cuts paints. Rose gold, gloss white, Clear coat, Flat black chassis
  16. The last couple of cans of Rust-Olium took a long long time to dry! it was still tacky well over a week& 1/2! Some on here say that Krylon is garbage, But I've never had an issue with their Short cuts craft & hobby paints. Now the only issue with getting the short cuts is it's been hard to get due to some supply chain issues that hasn't seemed to have affected Rust-Oliums BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH paint's. There is one thing I agree with though is that the primer/paint mixed paints are bad. Be it from either Krylon of rust olium, and I'm sure it's not just me but it seems that it dulls their normally glossy paints.
  17. Inflation I was told by the cashier. Guy before me bought a bunch of R/C items ( bigger ticket items) Also they have cut the model section down over half with cars/trucks on one side Military kit's on the other . They used to have two sides of each, And they are now charging nearly 14.00 for Bare metal foil ! They only had the black chrome, and so I bought it direct from BMF : One sheet matte Aluminum, one sheet chrome for $7.50 each with shipping added it was just over $21.00 for them.
  18. I was going to support a hobby shop, But when they wanted to charge me $10.00 a can of Testor's spray paint I said no way! after tax added on three cans would have racked me over $32.00!!!!!!!!!! Went to Hobby lobby found the same testor's spray paints that I wanted for $5.79 a can. Call me a cheapskate, but I'm working with a fixed income, and would rather use that extra to get hobby need's. Basically rounded up to $6.00 a can X 3 is $18.00 which saved nearly 15 dollars which I used to buy a couple of Molotow markers 1mm & 2mm plus HL dropped the price on them to under 9.00 Each!
  19. Impcom (Gary Cook) was 71. As for what started the fire is speculation as the news report said he was working on a car which backfired caught fire then caught fire. Per Tina his wife the fire started, and he tried to fight the fire to save his things, but the fire caught him instead. Years ago before our friendship started his home burned down which he lost his collection of models. So I'd say he was trying to stop the fire from doing the same thing, plus he had a couple of classic cars in the building such as his '59 Impala convertible. He had a real love for those '59 Chevrolets. Should have not tried to fight the fire, but then rational thinking sometimes don't kick in, and people think they can save their stuff. Still its sad that it happened to him, and as I said he was a true friend. As you can see this is a photo of himself with the Transtar 4070 a that I sent him as a gift. The look on his face say's it all about how thrilled he was to get it. For him to buy one there would have cost him over $100.00. Even with shipping added it cost me less than $70.00 to buy and ship to him.
  20. Thanks. Gary Cook Joined the forum in 2008 as impcom his avatar was his beloved '59 Chevy wagon... He had a real soft spot for those '59 Chevrolets. He last visited the forum on December 10 five days before his untimely death. Just a few weeks ago he sent me a package, and though he packed it well one model still got damaged. I sent him the '59 Lincoln promo that I had found which likely was destroyed in the fire. I managed to fix the '66 Buick wildcat, and sent him photo's of just 2 days before the fire. His last email was What Damage in referance to the Buick. That and the fact he loved the color choice ,and the use of white wall tires.
  21. Being that I have a couple Chevrolet (1960) promo's The glass is kit plastic like the bumpers so it shouldn't warp, But keep in mind it could be out of shape due to the body warpage. Thankfully none of the glass in my promo '60 Chevrolets has been warped. I do know that the Falcons warped in the middle of the car causing a banana shape car...............
  22. What shocked me happened on December 15th and got emailed about on the 16th. I lost the best friend I ever had in my life. His shop caught fire, and while he did get out he was badly burned over 70% of his body. Not only his shop is gone along with a few classic cars, But he is as well. We may have never met in person, but we started our friendship through the Model cars forum. Since 2013 we had been trading, emailing almost daily , and getting each other gifts. He lived in Oliver B.C. Canada, and I'm here in Ohio. Being both of us worked with a fixed income it was cheaper for me to get kit's he wanted and ship them to him than if he were to buy then at a hobby shop there in his area. Models that cost me less than $20.00 from HL would have cost him nearly $45-50.00! I'll miss him dearly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. It is with a heavy heart that I have gotten the news that "Impcom" Gary Cook had passed away. His wife had emailed me that he was in his shop when it caught fire, and that he was badly burned over 70% of his body. Gary was a great guy and we met on here. We forged a good friendship we traded quite a bit , and emailed each other several times daily over the last 9 years ... I will miss him deeply! Rest in peace my good friend, and buddy................
  24. Though it's a decent movie there were quite a few errors according to Bob Morgan's Book. Anywho I have seen the actual restored B-17 which is now at home in Dayton Ohio.
