Gremlins in model building (not AMC type).
ranma replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They visited me again while working on the AMT 57 Chevrolet (Coca-Cola Issue) I removed the driver side wiper from the tree just fine, Then the Gremlin's hit with a one -two punch as both the passenger side wiper broke then the radio antenna followed suit. I have built almost 20 of these 57 Chevrolet's (retooled) and only one other had the passenger wiper break on me. And of all of the ones I've built this is the first to have gotten glue on the windshield. -
what impala's are needed to kit bash?
ranma replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, I thought the 70 would work for the 69, but wasn't sure about it, Ive seen some resin 68 impala bodies on ebay but the casting looks iffy. -
In trying to do a tribute collection to chevrolet 1950-80 what Impala kits could be kit bashed to make a '68 Impala? From what I seen 65 would come close on the front/hood so would the 66 work for the rest of the body? or a 67? Also want to do a '69 Chevrolet kit bash so what kit's would help on that?

Oh those Gremlins of building a model, Either parts come up missing, glue gets on clear parts, paint ect. Those Darn critters got me on two different kit's recently, First a 67 Impala that all the clear parts in their plastic bag still goes awol. Then today glue out of nowhere ends up on a windshield, I used a glue tip and had no glue on any of my fingers. Alas though glue smudged on the passenger side on the inside of the windshield. Other Mishaps I've been hit with is parts falling and disappearing never to be found again or after the part has been replaced it shows back up. Anyone else have these Gremlins in their house????

For the ones who watch AMC"s The Walking Dead's second episode of this eason (02/19/2017) got an Iconic treat. The Trailer that was used in the Original Smokey and the Bandit was used as a back drop in a sceen with Daryl and one of the men from the kingdom. I knew the trailer right away, My roommate wasn't sure untill the last question on the Talking Dead was about the Iconic Trailer.

Found a Revell '89 Grand Prix . The box had been opened, But the bags had not been opened, I don't have many white cars in my collection, so I left it white. The Instructions say the engine is a 3.1, Which it is not it's the 2.8 instead. I painted the rims aluminum, and used a red marker for the red trim around the car.

Four door or sedan/post interest
ranma replied to disconovaman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well didn't they also have mustangs/camaro's ,66 Impala,62 Impala, Amt 1/25 slot car's even F-150's and dodge pickup's plus many more? But I did not see any 94-96 Impala's or 91 Caprices! Also the 94-96 Impala was issued Four time's , Snap, street burner, Donk and low rider. -

Four door kit's don't really sell? Funny that the Revell '91 caprice sold as a Police car, Taxi/Fire chiefs car, Revell issued the 94-96 Impala as well. Then there is Lindberg with their Ford Crown vic and dodge Charger police cruisers. Even revell Issued the crown Vic, and I forgot the '05 Impala cop cruiser. -
Found a third one at wal-mart, tore it down to repaint and to add an interior and clear glass. Picture 1. as it comes, #2 inside cab/bed, #3 inside chassis with speaker and wires( wires already cut away from headlights at this point). Picture 4. process of removing speaker holding area and cab screw down towers. Picture 5. glass removed along with mirrors and bumpers. Picture 6. Sepration of the "glass" and windshield wiper area. Picture 7. showing the wiper area where it belongs.

Thanks for the input on this thread, But even though it won't be factory stock I did manage to get the 71 T-Bird chassis and interior to work for the cyclone. The T-Bird will go on to be used on the race car chassis along with the race car decals. And I did find out that a T-Bird was used for racing in '70 (see pic.)
-
Need to know if all the chassis and interior parts from the AMT '71 T-Bird would work on the Donnie Allison '71 Cyclone? If so I'd be like to trade the racing parts for the stock parts from the T-Bird kit.

Offbeat Places You Have Purchased Model Kits?
ranma replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A verity shop called Bob's Bargin barn (second hand furniture and such Found and bought a Brooklyn collectors guild 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora. Still in its box (the box had seen better days) Bought it for $6.00, and added it to my model collection! -
Years ago back in 1995 or so I bought a new Revell 1/24 Ford areo maxx ( sadly it got destroyed by my ex-wife. But the biggest problem was that the tires were unuseable from the start as they cracked and crumbled apart. I would like to have a copy of this truck again but they are hard to find or not in my price range. Did any one else have this issue with this or other "soft" tired kit's???????

I think most of the "other supply's" such as paint would still be out there as would xecto knives , self healing pads vices ect. maybe even some glues that could work with the plastic kit. The idea of models no longer being produced wouldn't effect as many people. As the die cast market would still be popping out cars and trucks (i.E. Jadea toys M2 machines ect.)
