Way to go Marshall. I'm glad that you got this one back out and working on it again. I think this looks great. Keep 'er going and keep us posted on your progress. I would like to see this one finished. :) Dan -
Thanks Mike. I'll have to go take a look and see if I can get some. I'm glad that you can use those lids Marshall. I had forgot all about them. I still have a few more of those and I think that Burger King changed their lids. Not sure though. I hope not cause they do look good as speakers. Dan

Thanks guys. I don't have any of those magnets Brian. That might be a good idea and I'll have to see if I can find some. That's great news Marshall. I would love to see you building that car again. I thought that you had a good thing going there and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. Glad I could help ya Marshall. Dan

Thanks Marshall, I never thought of that. I'll give that a try. Although the front end has metal springs in it and that is another problem that holds the front up in the air like it has no engine it it. Dan

I wasn't happy with the way the tail lights looked with the resin bezels so I made some using aluminum tubing. I think that they look much better now. Here are some pics fer ya to gander at. I have to live with the front end tilted until I can figure out how to fix it. A shot of the interior with the top up. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Well, I got er done. I had to make the tail pipes out of aluminum tubing and she's all together now. Not a winner by a long shot, but good enough fer me. Here are some pics fer ya to gander at. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Well, I finally got some updated pics of this build. I don't have all the parts for the fuel injection, so this is what is injecting the engine. I dry brushed the Corvette on the back and used BMF on the fuel filler cap. I sprayed the steering wheel with Alclad and then painted the black. I also painted the dash gloss black and then scraped the paint off of the numbers in the gauges. I started installing BMF on the body tonight also. I'm hoping to have this one finished pretty soon as well as the Mako. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Ok, here are some pics I finally got tonight. Here it is with the top open and the hood tilted. A view from the back. This is how it sets normally. I'm trying to figure out why it sets like this. So far I have no clue so any help or ideas that anyone might have to help is greatly appreciated. Here it is with the flying finger of fate holding the hood down in the right position. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Thanks guys, and Yes Brian, I'm going to bring it to the meeting. I have it done but I can't take pics right now. The battery is dead and I'm charging it now. So, as soon as I can, I'll post some pics. There is a problem with the car though. The hood won't set down where it's supposed to go and I don't know what's causing this. It might be a factory blunder, I don't know. I was wondering if anyone here has built this kit and had the same problem. I can use all the help I can get on this. I'll get some pics up later tonight after the battery gets charged up. I like how it looks. This kit is a little fidigity to go together. I had to hold the windshield in place while the glue set up. there is no support until it is glues solid. The top opens up, so that's no help. Anyway, I do like the car. Later. Dan

I'm still having some problems with Photobucket, but I was able to get some pics uploaded today for this build. I had to spray Alclad on the bumpers for this. The picture really doesn't do them justice though. Here is the louvers that have been sprayed with Alclad also. Here's a shot of the interior. Here it looks like a wreck. I glued some of the parts together tonight and I'm letting them dry overnight before I start putting it back together. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

 Good for you my friend. It takes a special person to do what you have taken on sir. Again, Congrats. Dan

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and get some more done on this today. I'm liking how this one is going so far. I'm happy with the way the paint turned out on the body and the BMF looks good also. This is the 2nd time that I've done the BMF this way and I like the results so far. I didn't do the 65 'Vette like this though cause I got in kinda hurry to paint that Black. Dan

Ok, here are some more pics of the 65. I was finally able to upload pics to Photobucket. I had some kind of problem after spraying this and I had to san the color and then polish it. Here is what it looked like after sanding. Here it is after polishing and mocked up to see how this is going to look like. The valve covers after Alclad The bumpers after Alclad. I think that I can polish these a little to get them to shine a little better. They have a little overspray on them. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

I finally got to post pics on Photobucket. Although there is still something wrong over there, but at least I have some pics to post. Here are a couple of pics of the top. I got it painted and polished and ready to be put together. This one is when I painted it black. Here it is after painting it blue and then a wash of black over the blue and polished out. I hope to get this one finished real soon. I need to paint the interior and then finish putting it back together. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Thanks guys. Marshall, the fade paint job is the third time that I've done this. The first time was on one of my 53 Studebaker's. The second was the 51 Buick by Jimmy Flintstone. The Studebaker was my test bed sort of speakin. I don't test anything that I do before I do it. Sounds kinda dumb, but that's how I do my testing. If it works then I'm happy and if it doesn't then I strip it and start over. I don't like to, what I call, waist paint by testing on something and then doing the same thing over again. That's just a weird thing on my part and I know it. Some of the guys that I know think that I'm krazy, and they're probably right. Or maybe just a little strange. Anyway, I'll keep checking Photobucket so I can post pics. Until then, see ya in the funny papers. Dan
-
WOW Brad, I would of liked to have seen that 'Vette, and heard it rumble.. And sorry Marshall for your "box set". Just kiddin, congratulations my friend. Dan

Thanks Rick and Bill, I'm glad that your still working on the 59 and sorry about the flood. I remember when that happened. I'm having trouble posting pics to Photobucket and I can't update this build or the 65 Corvette thread. I hope that people over there at Photobucket can get whatever is wrong, fixed soon. I even logged out and logged back in and only once did it let me upload one picture and after that, nothing. Even after I logged back out and in again, still nothing. Oh well, that's the way the 'ol ball bounces I guess sometimes. I'll post pics as soon as I can. Until then it's back to buildin. Dan
-
Thanks James. For some reason I can't upload my pictures to Photobucket. Must be some kind of problem that they're having. Got me. So, until this problem gets fixed, I can't update with pics. Sorry fellas. Dan
-
Thanks Bill for the kind words and advice. Your opinion means a lot. I do sorta dry spray the bodies before paint, but this time the dust bunny surprised me. :D When you do yours, I'm sure that yours will be a great build. I'd like to see a pic of the one that you have to rebuild. You can post pics if ya have any (hint, hint). How's the 59 Impala coming along? Haven't seen any updated pics of it. I do have the top that you sent me on the 60 and it looks Ok. It is setting in the box until I get to it. I'm going to paint the color on the top today and hope to have this one rapped up soon. Dan
-
 Yeah, but you don't need rebuilt do ya? :D Thanks for the kind words Carl. Dan

A real small update on this build. I got the top repainted flat black tonight and I'll get the blue painted tomorrow and post pics. This is almost ready to be put back together soon. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Will, I've got the body, chassis, firewall, radiator, bottom of the interior and the bumper/grill painted flat black. Here are some pics of what I did tonight. I had to repair the grill cause I had to cut it out of the opening. I didn't get pics of the grill and chassis cause I fergot. DUH. I'll get some pics tomorrow and post them. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
