I built mine for a club build we had and I kinda changed things a little. It was built as a fictitious race car with a fictitious name and sponsor. Check out the qualifying speed of this guys car. This was for fun. Dan

67 Chevy Stepside 4x4
59 Impala replied to 01blueedge's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Josh. You did a fine job on this build. I like the color choice you made for it also. I used the frame and drive line from one of the Chevy Mule Skinner trucks to convert one of these GMC's to 4 wheel drive. I left mine as a GMC. Dan -

Nice lookin Chevy ya got there Josh. The tail lights look like 54 Chevy tail lights. May I ask where those came from? I'd like to have a pair of those for the Revell 54 so I can build the car stock. Thanks in advance for any information. Dan -
That would be great Matthew. Take care. Dan

Sorry to hear of your troubles Matthew. I hope you can recover fully from the back problems. I know what that's like also. I'll say yo to Mike when I see him fer ya. If you ever get back to Columbus be sure and stop by the hobby store again. You're welcome to come and visit anytime. Take care. Dan

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. It's really appreciated. This was a good build for me to experience the different skills that I didn't have before I started this. Dan -

Thanks fellas for the kind words. Much appreciated. This was a fun build for me. I need to take a pic of the front end after I installed the FORD letters on the front under the hood. I'll post a pic when I can. Thanks fer lookin and commentin. Dan -

Metal Axle Madness!

I have a few of these wire axle cars myself. 40 Ford 41 Plymouth 49 Ford 49 Merc and Ford These are just a few of them. I loved these kits back in the day. For one thing, you could play with them after you built them, and we (my brothers and Me) had a lot of fun crashing them into each other to see witch one lasted longer. Dan -
This is a 50 Ford truck that I got from one of the guys in our club. He wanted to do a custom and then had second thoughts about it and gave it to me. I used the front end and bed from the 4X4 F150. The cab is a Jimmy Flintstone resin, with the chopped top. Here is how it turned out. I have installed the FORD letters on the front of this just below the hood. I just don't have a pic of it with them on it yet. I made resin copy of the Ford name plate for the tail gate and I used 320 sandpaper for the step bumper. I used the Ardun heads and carbs on this build for more go power. I had a lot of fun building this truck. It is painted with Gold Pearl powder mixed in clear over white. I used the rest of the F150 parts that I had left over and made a half track out of it. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Thanks Tom for the kind words. I'll post some pics in the under glass section. Dan

I used the yellow frog tape to mask off the bumper on this 50 Ford custom. As you can see, there's no bleed thru between the gold and black. Dan

Glad to hear that you're Ok Bryan. You were really missed here and over at the Model Builders. Take care my friend. Dan

Thanks for clearing this up Steve. This is going to take a long time to get it built straight I do believe. Thanks again guys. Dan

I looked up the 67 and 68 Impala's on Google images and it is a 67. The hood goes all the way to the front of the grill where as the 68 is a pancake stile grill. Of course the rear tail lights are the 67 on this car. I think this clears this up now. I'll still build it as some kind of custom. Later with more pics to come. Dan

Nice 68 you got there Roger. I think we got this one figured out now. It looks like Irvin Arter Jr. has this kit built. It was sold as a 68 but the rear end looks like the 67. It is a custom only by the looks of it. His is a great lookin build also. I looked in his Fotki folder and saw some pic of it. Looks like a combination of a 67 and a 68. This is going to be somethin else fer sure. Thanks for your help with this. Dan
-
Thanks guys, and looks like you're right James. This one had the rear window cut out and needs to be fixed also. This is getting pretty exciting. I might have gotten in kinda deep with this one. We'll see as I plan on continuing working on it. I like a challenge and this looks like it sure is one. Dan
-
Thanks guys. Roger, if this is a 67 it doesn't look like the other 67's that I have. The others are much different all around. The chassis, body moldings and hood are different. The ones that I have are AMT. Who made this one? I'm confused now fer sure. Did AMT make two different kits? I was wondering if this one is a custom only kit because there is no trunk engraved on it. Strange fer sure. Any info on this is wanted and appreciated. Dan
-
Thanks guys. I don't really know how I'm going to build this yet. I'm not into low riders, so that's out. Plowboy, thanks for the information about this kit. This body doesn't even have a trunk line so I don't know what the difference in yours and this is. There is no belt line on this body. I wounder if this was a custom only kit. I can't wait to see how this one turns out. Here are some more pics that I took last night. The glass is toast. The only way to get the firewall out was to cut the cowl out with it. I can save both this way. This is what the grill and tail lights looked like before I worked on them. Here they are in the purple pond taking a bath. More pics coming. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

I am a gluten for punishment fer sure. I got this car from a friend and it is the worst glue bomb that I have ever seen. There is so much glue on the back of the seats that it is literally dripping off of the seats. Everything was glued together with looks like a tube of glue for every piece. LOL. Not really, but a lot of glue was used. The seats are glued with so much glue that they are melted together and the bottoms are on backwards. I was going to use the hood for the 67 cause that's what I thought it was in the first place but I found out that it isn't a 67. So, I started to see if I could take it apart and here are some pics of how it looks. You can see a glob of glue dripping off of the left seat here. I'll post more pics of this. I am going to try ans save it. It will have to be a custom of some sort though. Not sure where this is going yet. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
