  1. Yeah Donn, yer never gonna swim ifin ya don't jump in the water I guess. I'll get there soon though. Thanks. Dan
  2. Thanks Donn. On the glass issue, just what is the problem with it? The glass looks fine or my old eyes are foolin me. Looks like I missed a thread or two about the glass issue. This truck looks great without any clear fer sure. I love the results that you get spraying enamel paint with Lacquer thinner. I still haven't gotten up the nerve to try it yet. But one day I will. Dan
  3. Nice Bryan. Is that color the Kustom Kolors Aquarius Shift color? It looks like it and I love that color. I painted a Frankenstude that color and I fell in love with it. It was the first time that I have used that paint. I will be using it again fer sure. Dan
  4. Beautiful truck Donn. I really like the color. Question fer ya. I sent ya a PM a few days ago and haven't heard back as of today. Do you have time to read your PM's? It's about the enamel reducer we talked about at the BSAC model show. Dan
  5. Congratulations Andy, a job well done and a nice lookin Camaro to boot. Two thumbs up fer sure. Dan
  6. Future is thin. It's ready to spray. You also can dip it or brush it on. If you make a mistake Windex will remove it, but be careful, Windex will also remove the paint if fresh. It happened to me just a couple of weeks ago and I learned the hard way. I had to strip the paint off of the car and now I have to repaint it. Bummer. Dan P.S. After spraying Future I cleaned my spray gun with Windex to clean it out.
  7. Tom, I use the reducer from Napa and it is the medium dry reducer. I've not had any issues using the reducer with Testors paints. I use the 1/4 oz. bottles and thin them down with the reducer. I'll put about a 1/4 inch of paint in the bottle and the rest is reducer. Now, this is very thin and I usually spray a few light coats like Donn does. I spray with between 10 and 18 lbs. of air. I do spray continuously starting from the top and then the front, then back and last the sides and then go over the model the same way until it is covered. Then I'll let it dry. That's all that I do. Most of the time I will spray the clear over the model after it has dried. But there are some times that I don't spray any clear. Like, if I'm looking for the shine of the 50'and 60's. That's about it. Rich, I use Future floor polish instead of enamel clear for my clear coats. Future is sold now as Pledge with Future shine I'm told and should be in any supper market or Wall Mart. Dan
  8. Great job on the weathering. Everything else is great also. I just love this build. Two thumbs up fer sure. Dan
  9. Nice, real nice. I like the two tone paint on this truck. I also like what you did to the wheels. Two thumbs up.
  10. Yep, I use Testors window glue over the chrome and it looks perty good ifin ya ask me. I think that I have a few pics in my photobucket and I'll try and find some ifin ya like. Dan
  11. Curt, I think you're thinking of the Mako II. That's the one that I have and it is full of little parts and with the tilt front end. It was by MPC. It was also issued later as the "Street Fever" Vett I believe. I have that one also. It's mostly the same as the Mako but without the little shark on the front hood side and no steel springs for the front end. I wanted to make copies of the shark on the hood and try and make the Street Fever one as another Mako II. Time will tell if I can do it or not. Dan
  12. Man, I wish this was a glue kit. I have the Mako Shark II kit and this would make a great pair of Sharks. Is it still available? If it is, I just might pick one up anyway. This one is lookin good so far. I like it. Dan
  13. I didn't go Tom, but a few of the other guys from the Buckeye Scale Auto Club went and maybe one of them took some pics. Don Splitstone takes a bunch of pics of these events, so maybe he has some and will post them on his Fotki site. We should know something tonight or tomorrow, I hope. Dan
  14. The only good looking part on that Yellow Buick is the Packard hood ornament. Question is, why would anyone ruin a Packard hood ornament? Dan
  15. I'm stuck in the 50's and early 60's as far as what the cars look like. I tried to get the look of a 50's custom on a 53 Ford and I was trying to get the look of a well rusted but fairly good car with a 49 Ford and a 57 Chevy. I also was going for a couple of hot rods with the 49 Merc and 49 Ford. Here are some pics of them. My tastes lye somewhere in between all of these. I'm so confused. Dan
  16. For me, it was about 1955. I was 8 years old and I started building model airplanes. Then I got smart and started building model cars. I still build airplanes and cars/trucks. Dan
  17. Great thinkin Bryan. I have a few watch parts but nothing like those. Oh, I forgot, I did use a main spring once for leaf springs on a '57 Chevy custom, which I still have by the way. It's in a box waitin to be restored. Dan
  18. I've given and I've also received parts from others on here and other forums that I belong to. I feel really good when I can help someone out who really needs the help. I don't ask for anything in return for the parts that I send out other than the "pay it forward". Just not to long ago I needed the glass for the '65 Pontiac Grand Prix (which I never new that I needed it since I've had the kit ever since '65). Now, thanks to who ever let me know that the kit had the wrong glass in it from the factory ( sorry, I can't remember who this was, bad memory), anyway, another person saw this and (again I can't remember who this was) let me know that they had an extra '65 glass and needed the '64 glass that was in my kit. No questions asked, we traded and I was able to complete the Pontiac. Now I know this wasn't a freebee but it is along the same lines, sorta. If I had what was needed I would send parts to those who I know and are in need and I'd expect nothing in return. Dan
  19. I'm liken this one fer sure. Looks great dressed in Black. I'll keep an eye on this. Dan
  20. Charlie, the hobby stores should have what you're looking for. It's an adapter from 1/8th to 1/4 pipe thread where the 1/8th is male and the 1/4 is female fittings. Hobby Lobby or Michaels should also have them. Dan
  21. I built those two cars. The one with the flames had tail lights, trunk handle, outside mirrors and hood chrome missing. The tail lights and trunk handle were copied from the 48 Chevy from Galaxie and had the bottom part of the lights cut off for the 41. I made the outside mirrors from Evergreen stock and painted black. I used Evergreen stock for the hood chrome also. Also, one of the wipers was missing and I had to make that. The black one has parts from Monograms 53 Corvette on it to represent a hot rod from the early 50's. It also has primer on the front end and the bottom parts of the doors to represent body work in progress. Dan
  22. Thanks gray07. On the one with the flames I had to make the tail lights, outside rear view mirrors, the trunk handle and trim on the hood. I made a mold of the 48 Chevy tail lights and trunk handle and made copies and I had to trim off the extra chrome part on the bottom of the tail lights cause the 41 didn't have that part on them. I made the hood trim from a piece of half round evergreen plastic stock and used BMF on that. I also made the outside rear view mirrors. I also had to fix the exhaust which was broken on the bottom. The rest was just left as it came in the box. Oh yeah, the vent windows are also missing from this one along with the rear license plate holder. Dan
  23. This one says it all fer me. Dan
  24. Thanks Phillip. It was a very good build. Everything went together without any trouble, and I've always wanted to put 56 Packard tail lights on a car, real or model and I finally did it. Dan
  25. There are a few of the ones that were trouble free for me but I think this 53 Ford was one of the best even though I customized it a little. It's the Lindberg kit. Dan
