Well, the reason the one that I painted flat black is, that it is to represent one that is being worked on as an early 50's hot rod. It had bodywork that needed to be fixed and then has a primer coat on it. Dan

Here they are together. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Here are a couple of 41 Coupe's that I have. The one with the flames on it was left just as it came in the kit except for a few pieces that were missing and I had to make them. The one that has the flat black paint on the front end has parts from Monogram's 53 Corvette on it. The Corvette engine, tires and wheels, part of the exhaust and the 'vette steering wheel. Also I used BMF on the chrome trim. Here are some pics of each. With the V8. With the 6 banger 'vette. I'll post pics of them together. Dan

MPC '53 Ford Flipnose Opinions?
59 Impala replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Back in the day AMT issued the 53 Ford pickup with the welding tanks and the optional Hemi engine in it. Later MPC came out with the flip nose and the frame and I think engine was the same as what came in the MPC 57 Chevy two dr sedan drag car. There was some stink about the truck and car suffered because of the shared frame. Which suffered I really don't know. I do have the AMT truck and the MPC flip nose. The bodies are almost if not exactly the same. I have mixed parts from both kits and they fit. Just my 2 cents guys. Dan Maybe someone else can explain better than me. -

New layout of forum!
59 Impala replied to gbdolfans's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like the new layout. To me, it's easier to find what I'm lookin fer. Thanks a bunch Harry. Dan -
Thanks fer the very kind words guys. The final color is kinda growin on me. I sprayed Future on it last night and it looks a little better to me. I'll take some pics later today and post them. I was hoping to get this finished by today for our club meeting tonight, but that ain't gonna happen. I'll still take it to the meeting as an unfinished car. More to come after awhile so stay tuned. Dan

Thanks Mike. The color just didn't come out like I was expecting it too. If you paint the Aquarius Shift over Black you get different looks in the color. Blue, Green, Purple and Gold in the sunlight. Over White the color doesn't show up very well. This is the first time that I've used this paint and I'm kinda experimenting with it to see the different looks I can get from it. Next time, I'm gonna try spraying it over a dark Blue and see what shows up. Dan

Thanks fer the kind words fellers. I think that tomorrow I'll spray the Future on it and see how it looks then. I hope that it pops the color after the Future is sprayed on. This is only the 2nd time that I've used "Kustom Color" paint. I sprayed the Frankinstude with it and I liked that combo, Aquarius Shift over Black. Live and learn I guess. Dan

Timothy, I use Sophisticated Finishes that I got at Micheal's art store. It's a two part system. First you apply the paste and let it dry and then you brush on the activator and put the part or car in a bag and seal it up and watch it rust. Here are a couple of cars that I rusted this way. First here is the pic of the stuff that I use. Now the cars. 49 Ford 57 Chevy There are more pics of each car in my photobucket if you would like to see more. Dan

Well, here are some pics of how she looks so far. I'm still not convinced on keeping it this way or stripping it and redoing it differently. Any thoughts on this? The affect that I was trying to get didn't come out to good. I'll have to think about this fer awhile I guess. Thanks fer lookin. Dan

PERRO VERDE : 37 FORD PICKUP

Lookin good Bryan. I think what you marked out for the rusting would be just right. I like rust too myself. Dan -
Well, I got the other color on it today and I'm kinda disappointed. You can't see the color very well and the hood looks like it has chicken pox fer some reason. Also, the paint cracked around the front emblem on the body like I sprayed it with lacquer. At first I was going to let it go fer a dip in the purple pond but I changed my mind. It's not a contest car and it's gonna set on the shelf anyway so I'm letting it dry until Thursday and then I'll spray Future on it and call it done. I'll post some pics up tomorrow. So, until then, keep up the good work guys. Dan

59 Impala replied to bryan_m's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Lookin good my friend. By the way, now it has two gas tanks, one regular one and one reserve. You knew that anyway didn't ya? Great build Bryan. Dan -
Finally an update. I've painted the coves, top and dashboard Gold Pearl mixed in Future. Now, when they are dry I'll mask them off and paint the body Aquarius Shift over the white. I'm experimenting with the paint cause I have no idea of how this is going to turn out. Well, here are the pics of what she looks like now. Thanks fer lookin and I hope ya like her. Dan

Question about Rear window decal
59 Impala replied to gray07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If you have a printer you can print what you want on clear decal paper and then install the decal on the window. The clear decal paper is perfect for this. Hope this helps ya. Dan -
Nice saves Jim. I really like the Corvairs. I had one of the 4dr's when I was a kid. I have no idea of what happened to it. That was too many years ago. Dan

Thanks Jim, and they all were a lot of fun to rebuild believe me. I really enjoyed re-working them. Dan
