Super Boss Parts to Cast?
Edsel-Dan replied to ARTEMIS1759's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Only the 2 Malone Transporters used the body. AMT Did offer the KW Aerodyne As a Semi cab & Licensed for the TV series BJ & The Bear. The LN race hauler in the Petty, Tennessee Thunder, Mach-1, and other sets had a different body. It was designed for a shorter Single Drive chassis while the Malone transporter body fits a longer Tandem Drive chassis. I had one of the Bandit Transporters. Only $10.oo at the time. They said they had Cases of the 4 kits at the shops. but that was the only one they had any left of in the traveling sales trailer. Yea, wish I had kept it! Wish I had had More $$ then. I would have bought 2, 3 or even 4 of that truck! They closed shop didn't they? They were Here in my town, right out my back door at a Bandag Tire dealer. Had Super Boss, & Papa, plus one I had never seen before. Tandem drive . Don't remember its name -
Italeri Superliner "Black Thunder"
Edsel-Dan replied to Fox's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I have the "US Truck with Baywatch" trailer, It Is the Western Star??? and it only had the Aussie Dash set up It would be nice if they included both sets in kits like that I must say, I am surprised at "Florida" License plates on an Aussie Semi!! Plus, Baywatch was from LA County California, not Florida!! They Could have used Hawaii License plates as they did move there for the last year or 2. Yes I know that also did a One-Time appearance Down Under, but........... -
MPC Chrysler Hydro-Vee "Charger" Boat Kit and Other Boat Kits
Edsel-Dan replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The 'Miami Vice' kit is the Original of that Scarab Speed boat. I have one. Looking at what I need to do to make the Baywatch Scarab out of it -
Forgot something. The "Heavy Petal" Black 72 Longbox Stepside Chevy pickup from MPC was the second of 3 issues of that kit. First was a fairly Sock version molded white showing a Gold built on the box. It included a Yamaha Dirt bike The Heavy Petal is not exactly like the box art. It shows the stock front bumper, but includes a heavy-duty type. also, though deep set, the grill is a Stock 71/2 style rather than the tube type on the box. I have both the 74 issue with motorcycle & Heavy Petal. Last was the "Rolling Thunder" molded in Blue and has a "Sleeper Box" added. I am still looking for one of those, But 2 unbuilt of the Heavy Petal, and 1 unbuilt plus 5 Built restorable of the first issue will hold me for a little while!! (sadly, only the unbuilt boxed kit has the motorcycle!) I need to take some pictures of those. And a lot of other kits I have Like my 3 Different Isuzu BDX-30 Bonnet Buses.

I have seen that MonkeeMobile also sold as the MoonEyes GTO molded in Yellow. I was wondering if anyone else had seen the 2 Injection Molding machines! I have the AMT Escort, a 1/32 scale Decotora Van, MPC's Ski Doo snow mobile, and the Testor's Supervan. I believe it was also an IMC kit they re-issued. I love the Odd Police kits I have seen, and the Vauxhall wagon. (ANT Wagon!) I knew about the 1/32 scale Owner's club Cedric/Gloria convertible/Open pheaton, but not he 1/24.. Here are a few others no one has listed; (Sorry for the evilpay links, but I don't have the kits myself, or have pic's in my photobucket to post them here) Pioneer Boom Box http://www.ebay.com/itm/PIONEER-RUNAWAY-SK-900-1-6-MODEL-KIT-AOSHIMA-JAPAN-/370570523468?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5647b9734c Sony Liberty Component Stereo system http://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-Liberty-type-1-1-6-MODEL-KIT-AOSHIMA-JAPAN-/370544494674?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56462c4852 I have also seen Fork lift & pallet trucks, a Pull tractor called an "Off-Road Truck", A Bath-tub Hot-Rod; http://www.ebay.com/itm/YUKYLINE-BATHTUB-JAPAN-LUPIN-III-MODEL-KIT-MARUI-/370506536578?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5643e91682#ht_3019wt_1030 Aoshima has Several City Buses in 1/32 scale!! I could not find the Drum Set kit, but I am still looking. I use to have it in my watch It was molded in clear red metallic like the Chase version of the Meyer's Manx. The Japanese & Chinese kit manufacture's will make a kit of just about ANYTHING!

The Vette is AMT 1/32, I recognize the hubcaps. Tires are 2 pc styrene. I have a few I was watching this lot got eh AMT 1/43 Cougar myself. I have one, but I like Cougars, and 1/43 scale. I have the Monogram issue of the 1/32 65 GTO, but the body has been soaking in Break Fluid for 15-20 Years!!! Good ole Testor's #3 red fisheyed terribly, and Never would strip!!! I am not even sure where the rest of the kit is now, it has been so long!! I bet the Mustang is AMT's 66. Many re-issues since the Count-down series No doubt on the Maverick being Palmer I see the tell-tale Palmer hubcaps (I have had Too many to miss) and the separate roof, Only they did

something for the 60/70s crowd
Edsel-Dan replied to Lownslow's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I remember the PINK Revell 57 Chevy that had those!! I have at least 3-4 of that kit in pieces!! 2 got lucky and were built -
Yea. I Miss that show. Wish it was re-running somewhere!! I need to find the DVD sets. My W-M only have the first one, maybe the Second season too, but Never got anymore!! Now I never see them. You know why I was happy to find the DVD Of the episode in the Kits!! That Chain drive for the Rail wheel was not a good idea. They needed a heavier chain, and to have one on Both sides of the tire!! Too bad they Diecast & kits did not sell so well. I would have liked to see more of them offered!!

The reason I did mine the way I am, is since Ford used the 2dr Ranch wagon to create the Ranchero They used the tailgate area straight from that wagon' If Edsel had also produced/offered a Ranchero They would have done the same. They 58 Wagon Boomerang tail lights would have been used Not the winglet style of the passenger car. Yea I know of at least one resin offereing of an Edsel Wagon or Ranchero with the standard Car tail lights. But, How do they allow for the tailgate?? Did you know the 57-59 Ford Ranchero's all have the 2dr Ranch Wagon cargo floor Under the Ranchero bed?? I should have used this picture instead of the rightside. This one shows the cove/inset chrome inplace, while the rightside pic only shows the lower fin being created On the wagon, and this Ranchero, the tips of the tail light line up with the fin tips. ie, Cove/inset chrome surround I kept the EDSEL tooling roof since the Revell Ranchero kit had such a drastic Chop to it.. I was guaranteed a Stock roof height this way -
Actually, The RX7 was a Sand Rail They Used a New Mini for the Snowmobile. He raced Richard Petty!! Builds I know were issued as kits besides the Pontoon Boat/Bus are the Suburban/Wedding Chapel And F-150/250-Tree shaker. I have the Lincoln Limo/Fire Truck, Mustang/Mower "Switchblade" & Explorer/Trash Truck Diecast Sadly, they are not all to the same scale. I think Switchblade & Trash Explorer are closer to 1/16 while the Lincoln is closer to 1/32. The Mini Dicast are like Hot Wheels/Matchbox/Johnny Lightning, made to a similar size not scaled to each other There is a Pontoon/Bus on evilbay right now only $8.75 opening bid. It has floated there for a while dropping price everytime it is relisted.

Restored Ranchero
Edsel-Dan replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Beauty!! I have 2 of the Craftsman kits to restore. a 61 Styline I got a few years ago, and one of the Dessert Race/Rally series "El Ranchero Grande" kits I bought New back in 67/68 Both had the stock hubcaps, and 13 inch tires. The Original kit had a Bed cap not a sedan Delivery option. That would take a complete new body. Though with a LOT of work you might be able to simulate a 'Delivery with it by blending it into the body work instead of it being a separate piece. I did not know the last issue had the wall mount display in it again, and I have at least one of those kits!! -
Did you know a few of them were available as Kits?? More as Diecast in different scales, but I preferred the Kit. It included a DVD of that episode. here is one I built when first offered; The stanchions were not included in the kit. I am looking at the ones in the AMT Customizing Series chrome tree for them. This one does not count. OLD build.

Edsel-Dan replied to Austin T's topic in Community Builds
I can't promise how much I can do (No place to work now) But here is a look at what I have so far. [i started this a few years ago] The front clip is from the Modern Tool Pacer, the Ranchero clip is from the black Chopped top issue. The roof is still attached to the Pacer front clip, the B pillars & rear window frame are Evergreen sheet & strip. I simply copied the pillar from Revell's last Stock height roof Ranchero, and the frame from a PMC 59 Ranchero Toy issue The Window frames, right, left & rear are held in with masking tape, the paper in the bed is the template for the side trim & inset/cove. So is the card board under the bumper mount. Notice the Other EDSEL projects in the background ! I have to decide if I am going to replace the Door Pacer trim, or remove the fender piece. -
Midland Belly Dump Trailer Build
Edsel-Dan replied to Aaron Corey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I like this too I may convert it to 1/32 scale. I have a set of aluminum scale rulers from Murphey. Murphey's Rule 3 has 1/25 & 1/43 scale Murphey's original has 1/72 & 1/48 Rule 2 has 1/32 & 1/35. (have to find where I hid that one!!) I ordered these several years ago from an ad in a model 'Enthusiast' magazine, so I am not sure if they are still made. -

What about a 58 Edsel Pacer Ranchero conversion?? -
I like this one. The good news on this is that AMT is re-issuing the Ecto-1A 59 Ambulance, so anyone wanting to do more conversions on Older Hearses & Ambulances won't have to pay high-dollar for them. I was looking at doing this bash with a 68 Convertible Deville. Did Cadillac use the same size doors on 2dr & 4dr's?? I though 2drs had longer front doors than 4dr versions?

Chevrolet pickup grilles
Edsel-Dan replied to gtx6970's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
My Favorite era Chevy/GMC pickups. I have Several of them. Finally got a 68 to fill that gap. I was looking at the Custom grill from the recent 72's to see if it could be used to fill in the wider opening and allow the 667/68 grill to mount. Though I think an older version without the lights might be better. Maybe just cut out the center area and use the frame/surround?? I am curious though, Ertl/AMT/Round2 re-issued the 72 Fleetside 4 times in the past 15 years, so why is it so hard to find & so expensive?? I am also wondering, did they modify the shortbox Stepside GMC back into a Longbox Chevy?? -
chase-cars, That kit was only produced Once!! And as far as I can tell by quantity, was only in the MPC catalog for One year. I got mine New in a store in Pittsburgh, Pa, back in Early '80!! Either McRory's, Zayer's Or GC Murphy/Murphy-Mart None of those are in business now!! I have only seen 4-5 more since, and have not been lucky enough to get them!! Hopefully MPC/Round2 will re-issue it some day soon. If they do I will get at least 2 cases!! Right now, the only problem I have in buying one of your resin bodies is a way to pay for it. No creditcards or paypal. Also, sadly, right now, International US Postal Money Orders are not good in the UK the last I checked!

1959 Ford Country Sedan Station Wagon
Edsel-Dan replied to Joker's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I think I may owe some one here an apology, but I do not know who. (Please let me know if I did) As for the Galaxie/Fairlane 500 staement, I was only trying to say that Revell, not anyone here made a mistake when they printed the box-art for the Skip's Fiesta issue of the 59 Ford Skyliner, but that revell-Of-Germany did the correct Fairlane 500 name on there 50th anniversary issue, using the same re-print of the Original box art, while Revell US still calls the car a Galaxie. I do think they have both Fairlane 500 & alaxie rear fender script on the decal sheet this time though. Maybe my Caps, & punctuation was a little overboard. Also, I should have said do like this build though I prefer Stock. That Cooler is great. and I do like the Color combination Should I remove the pictures of my Country Sedans? As well as the link to my Photobucket album? -
1959 Ford Country Sedan Station Wagon
Edsel-Dan replied to Joker's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Does any one know if Bob Swartz in Savannah, Mo is still in operation?? I know he offered the Resin 59 Ford Country Sedan at one time, along with the twin Ranchero. He used My Toy versions of Both for Masters!!! I had a few of each at one time. Ok if I show these here?? 2 of my PMC 59 Country Sedans; Deluxe Promo: Toy store version: Yes I am using Revell's Skyliner for chassis, etc. (AMT's 59 Ford was the ONLY one to actually replicate a GALAXIE!! Revell has Mistakenly called their FAIRLANE 500 Skyliner a Galaxie since the First "Skip's" issue. Look at the Rear Fender Script On the Multi-piece Rev body. "FAIRLANE 500"! The Recent Rev-Of Germany 50th Anniversary kit corrected the name error, but Rev-US's re-issue in the same Reprint box-art continues the error. I have EVERY Box except the Current US issue, so I Do Know my Facts here!!!! Look on this page of my 59 Fords album: http://s145.photobuc...!cpZZ2QQtppZZ16 There are 3 of the Revell Skyliners here. The Yellow is my First, a 74 issue partially restored. The Turq. is a Built of the same issue & repainted the White of the body. The third is an Orignal Skip's issue getting the Deluxe build. Doors, Steering, Continental Kit, etc And, Yes, I have Both an Original AMT Sunliner Convert, & Jr. Trophy Hardtop GALAXIE. (Yes you are seeing 2 59 EDSEL Villager Wagons in the mix there!!!) Think I Like Wagons?? -
I am Not against 1/32. I do a lot of Fire trucks in that scale. I have the OLD MPC 77/78 Monaco kit too. Do you sell your 1/32 scale bodies?? I have an uncle with his original 72 Cadillac sedan!!

Moebius / Model King Marshall Teague 1952 Hudson kit
Edsel-Dan replied to S. Svendsen's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Only thing is, The 58 EDSEL Hood opens Backwards, like the 57-59 Fords!! If they made it open normally for racing, it would more likely be Lift off & need tie-downs, or Hood pins at the back as well as at the front! Since those race cars Were made from Show-room stock Cars instead of the Custom made "Stock cars of today!! Thread & bent wire hooks would be a good start for Scale bunge's too They do make elastic thread, but that would give out and stretch out of shape over time. -
True, As Harry says, it looks like it is falling out at the top of the frame. Those Old Vent's pivoted on an axis/axle. I remember them as Manual on 49 & 54 Fords 54 was a Skyliner! and Crank on 65 Wildcat! Wish I had those back now!!! Also, The Vents on AMT's 50 Ford Convert kit can be left loose to pivot!! I did that on my first built. Tournament Of Thrill's issue to tell you how long ago!! I Do Like this!! I have the Buyer's Choice #1 issue, & an Original Convertible Annual. Might try the open doors on one of them!!
