  1. The headlight bar from the "Coming" IMC/Jo-Han 74 Olds Cutlass will work on the 73/74 conversion. I am not sure about anything with tail liaghts that are close. The 'Other' mag did have a concversion article many years ago. The builder modified one of these nascar kits into a stock Laguna. I think he carved the tail lights into the rear panel and detail painted them
  2. As all are nascar, all have the Plates that were bolted/welded over the headlight openings!!
  3. The Wrecker was Originally issued in '79/80 as the "Captain Hook" from Holmes Tow Truck I have a built Original. It was molded in black The lightbar used Transparent decals to tint the Amber(yellow) sections. As for the graphics on the 67-72 Era Chevy/GMC Pickup/Blazer, There use to be a white over Yellow-Orange Suburban here in town with the same ones as in the Boondocker & Model King issues. As for Blue Thunder, I have an unbuilt of the Chopper, but do not remember seeing the Blazer. (On the shelf, or the show!!)
  4. Kit in hand. Rims are the 6 lug/5slot listed. (Chrome) Tires are Formula Dessert Dog PCV's instead of Solid AT's shown on box and instruction sheet. Here is a scan copy of the supplement. Notice that the outer rim is wider than inner. Due to that, the MPC/AMT Formula Dessert Dog PCV's do not fit well. They are tight, and tend to slip in away from the outer face. Let me have daylight, and I will upload picks of the kit.
  5. I have had 2 of the Sherriff's Blazer. At least one had the AMT/MPC Hollow PCV Dessert Dog tires instead of the solid AT Trackers. I need to check my unbuilt to see if it has the AMT/MPC tooled PCV Dessert Dog's too. Box art still show's the AT's, but a separate page notes the tire change.
  6. I actually built that Lenny Pond issue MANY Years ago. Sadly, it has a badly warped body. I did my best to straighten it out, but, I think it is still noticeable. AMT had already dropped it from the line up and sent me a 64 Impala kit instead of a replacement body. You forgot the Bobby Allison #12 kit . I have a built of that too, and 2 of the Monte Carlo.
  7. I used it straight for the Last of Ed Fluck's 70 Impala 4dr kits. I left it over night. Then used it later for paint stripping I strain it every so often when stripping paint, but either leave it in the soaking container, or funnel it back into its original bottle.
  8. The LEE kits are likely the ones also marketed by Heller. My first was a Heller. Rear Axle is cast to the chassis, but the trailing arms/lower control arms are separate!!. The Springs are made from a finer gauge wire. Some trim & badges are decals and Not engraved on the body. The Heller/LEE kit does have both Up Top & Boot Cover for the convertible, but, the top is Polished like Steel!!
  9. I never did the hot water. I drip thinner into the gap between the cap & bottle, let that work a little then the Pliers. Sometimes the thinner works enough, that I don't need the pliers. I try to clean the bottle rim & threads, as well as the cap threads before closing after each use.
  10. For pin holes, depending on size, I drill out & fill with evergreen styrene rod, or sprue. I even make filler with liquid cement, & kit shavings. The problem with using Superglue as a filler, is it will be harder than the surrounding plastic. Extreme care will need to be taken so as not to create a raised spot surrounded by low spots!!
  11. I have one of those, and a Poor Heller Copy! Thought the parts look the same, they are Not! I will dig them out & take comparison pic's. But I may have to wait till Sunday. It is suppose tom Rain all day Saturday! The Heller kit does offer both Up Soft-top & Boot cover where the Arii/Aoshima Convertible/Biarritz kits only had one or the other.
  12. I am not sure this is in the correct area, but need to ask. How do I find my private messages? Why is there not a link on the front page of the forum for this? I have figured out how to send one, but receiving them I am not sure about. Also, On other forums I am a member of, I receive emails notifying me about updates/replies to threads I post in, and messages. Subscribing to threads did not yield to notices either. Many Thanks. Sorry if I have missed messages, but, this is why.
  13. Yea, I believe that. I have an Original 1962 issue 57 Chevy and the rims are shot due to the reaction!! But, I also have AMT & MPC kits that have done that too I too would think BMF or other form of metallic foil would be the best option. Remember, Old Testor's enamil White would Never dry on the tire letters! Paint would more likely speed up the reaction here.
  14. If you are talking about the Tail lights & Lightbars in the Lindberg 97 Crown Vic, they are molded clear & tinted. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol will strip them in only a few hours. Also, Very Early issues of Jo-Han's 68 Fury Police Pursuit had clear molded beacon caps/flasher lenses that were then painted/tinted. They will also strip. I found that out be using Scrubbing Bubbles to clean on once. The red started coming off the light lenses. (At that time ALL Jo-Han tail light lenses were painted/tinted red too) The Blue Detroit/Chicago caps were harder to strip, but I did manage them too. But, yes, if you are talking about parts molded in colors, No way! All AMT & MPC lenses were cast in the transparent color. Jo-Han's later issues on the Ambulance & Police Pursuit Fury too had color cast parts. Revell AG still uses Clear lenses that the builder paints/tints to choice. Most Japanese companies do too.
  15. Or Evergreen/Plastruct tube the same diameter. Cut the drive shaft in 2 near the center, and splice in the tube. Or just lengthen the pins on both ends.
  16. You are right about the Suburban being on the Pickup chassis, but I believe by that time were only availabe on the Longbox chassis The modern tool AMT 60 & Revell 64 Fleetsides are Shortbox versions, And technically a Cameo with the box molded as a single piece
  17. I want one. But......... Only if Hobby Lobby gets them & I find a 40% or 50+% off Coupon!!!!!
  18. So, How many times Have you watched the movies?? How about reading the books?? Up to 6-10 times each yet??
  19. But, that "Dr Krook's" wasn't a Tom Daniels design was it?? That is an Old Revell tooling and Not a Monogram. Tom did his work at Monogram before & During the Mattel (Hot Wheels) days. (Early 70's.--Way before the Merger with Revell in the mid-late 80's. At least as far as I remember)
  20. I have an original issue from the Kay-Bee toy store 3 car kit and it shows removing all of the trim neccessary to change from Sedan to hardtop. I swapped out the interior for one of the re-issue that first included those decals. It too was molded in white though it shows a Blue built with those odd graphics in place. I like that Turquiouse one. I would like to know where to find the Tempest/Le Mans hubcaps that the original AMT kit had I have a few of the Polar Lights 64 and they have the same GTO rim. Almost the same size too Too close to 1/24 scale or 16 inch diameter for a 1/25 scale build. It should have 14's standard, as I don't think 15's were used that often on Full size car back then.
  21. But, The Bus only shows in One. Azkaban. I have all but 7 pt1 on DVD myself And all but 6 in Book form I do have all 7 in pdf form though.
  22. One question on the "Knight-Bus" Where are you planing to get the Arm Chairs, Beds, Chandeliers, etc??? Or were you just planning on making the outside Look correct??
  23. I doubt you will ever see the 68-70 MoPar's with Both Pro-Street & Stock options in the same box as they require separate chassis pans. Rememberm the Pro-Street has tubbed rear wheel wheels for those monstrosities they call tires. Not that they can't, but they would have to use a larger box for it to fit. They can and ocassionally do include both engine options, but not both chassis' I have the retro-Deluxe type box art re-issue of the 70. I do wish the Police parts were still there!! I want to say when they finally offered the 69 GTX hardtop in Stock, they may have included 2 engines too. I need to dig that one out and look at it again.
  24. Correct, The Penski Team set was an AMT kit with the Long box Chevy van. I have a parts lot kit as well as a mostly built Van left from my Original set. Sadly I traded the trailer way back when!! Here is the box top of the Penski set.
  25. As I understand, The rear fenders are too wide for stock too. A result of all those Hot-Rod style versions issued during the 70's & 80's I have one of the Stock Re-issues. Not sure when I will get to it, but hope to some day!
