  1. This is like one of those Reliable Resin threads. Some people got great service, some people got lousy service. Seeing as this thread has been going on for over a year, I don't see any point in letting it keep going. Some of you got great customer service from Revell. Some of you didn't. No point in constantly rehashing that, it accomplishes absolutely nothing.
  2. Like Sean said... very cool.
  3. Thanks, Bill. That was exactly my point. Both of my parents were born in Europe, and actually lived through WWII as young children. My dad's older brother (he would have been my uncle had he lived) was a member of the resistance. He died at 18 fighting the Nazis. He died many years before I was born. Believe me, I know about the resistance movement.
  4. But ya gotta remember, Rob... around here we get this perfect weather about 10% of the time. The rest of the time it's either 20 below zero, or a foot of snow, or 90 degrees and 90% humidity, or tornados, or... well, you get the idea. In the midwest, nice, calm weather is a rarity. If it's not one thing, it's another. So now while we're in this pattern of actual good weather, I have to be thankful!
  5. A little update... The "S word" is definitely in the rearview mirror now. We have been having just spectacular weather here lately. For the past two weeks or so, daytime temps in the 70s-80s, nighttime lows in the 50s... plenty of sun, rain mostly at night... couldn't get any better. My lawn looks like a freakin' golf course! Maybe God is rewarding us here in the midwest for making it through the incredibly harsh winter he stuck us with.
  6. I don't think I've never set foot in a Harbor Freight store. A brand-new one just opened here... I just might have to check it out.
  7. BTW Pete... that's a pretty cool little car. I see why you like it.
  8. Looks good. Any bigger would have looked goofy, but I think you're still in "safe" territory... barely!
  9. One of the newer gadgets that strikes me as especially goofy is self-closing minivan doors and/or rear hatch. I mean, come on! Are we now such slaves to technology that we need a system to close our vehicle doors automatically? You can make an argument for power windows, especially if you are the only one in the car and you want to open/close the windows on the right. You can make an argument for power steering, power brakes, maybe even power seats (a weak argument). But power door closers? What next... power glove box door? I mean, it's such a hassle to bend over and do it manually...
  10. What? You're going to use the stuff for what it's actually made for?
  11. Maybe. But it wouldn't be pizza.
  12. Yeah, but free is free!
  13. Interesting. I've tried the non-toxic Testors tube glue, also smells like oranges, but doesn't work... because they took out the nasty stuff that actually did the job. I guess they've found a way now to actually melt the plastic without the toxic chemicals that do the job in "regular" cements.
  14. I assume that since they're non-toxic, they don't actually melt and "weld" the plastic together, but just stay on the surface. So how strong is the bond? Comparable to "regular" liquid cement?
  15. If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, I'm with you.
  16. That's exactly my point. Technology for technology's sake, not because of actual need.
  17. That may be tasty, but it's just not "pizza." I don't know where this trend of calling all sorts of things that aren't pizza "pizza" came from, but it makes no sense to me. So we take a pizza crust, top it with corned beef slices and cabbage, and we have an "Irish pizza?" Top it with sauerkraut and dumplings and we have a "German pizza?" Top it with rice and beans and we have a "Mexican pizza?" I don't think so...
  18. I don't think we're talking about going back to wind-up windows and an AM radio. We're talking about technology that's there just "because." Does a car actually need an I-Drive system, for example? Really? I don't think so. I think turning the radio on via the "ON" button on the radio makes a whole lot more sense than turning it on via some silly electronic process. Voice command? Again, a bit silly if you ask me. I agree that many people these days expect that sort of gimmickry in their cars, but I'm not one of them. KISS, as they say. When you make a function simpler or more intuitive, that's progress. When you make a function more complex and less intuitive, that's not progress. That's gimmickry.
  19. I agree! So many of today's cars are just loaded with electronic gimmicks, not because they're needed, but just because they can do it. And then people start expecting this junk to be in their cars, and it just gets worse. IMO, a technological advance should make something better, or easier, or more effective. When you need to read and study a manual just to learn how to turn on the car radio, that's not a technological advancement, that a step backwards.
  20. How about this one? The answer: MODEL!
  21. Hey Ray, that looks pretty cool. The only possible "fly in the ointment" is holes in the hull for the headers. I hope they're far enough above the waterline!
  22. I agree with Andy. If the glue fumes affect you that much, you're not going to find a suitable alternative. It's either snap kits only, or a different hobby.
  23. Actually I'm not a big fan of that Harry's music...
