  1. Yep, just as I thought! I used to do it pretty much the same way until Photoshop came along. Now it's been so long since I've actually drawn something by hand, I doubt I could even still do it anymore! But I still have my full set of markers, ellipse guides and ship's curves, etc. Probably even have a pad or two of paper left somewhere... but haven't touched any of it in over 20 years.
  2. Resin and styrene are two completely different things. A styrene kit is made by injecting melted styrene plastic under pressure into a mold, allowing the plastic to cool and solidify, and then popping the parts out of the mold. Resin parts are made by pouring liquid resin into a mold (just pouring it, not injecting it under pressure), and letting it harden before removing it from the mold. As far as resin goes, most of the time the "master" used to create the mold is a modified existing styrene body or kit part. The main difference between the two as far as model kits and parts are concerned is that injection molding is a process designed for high-volume production, while resin casting can be done by anybody, on a "one at a time" basis, without the need for expensive machinery. The relative ease and inexpensiveness of resin casting is why the aftermarket companies use that process instead of the injection-molding process, which requires mega-buck injection molding machines and expensive steel molds.
  3. Maybe next they can teach a kiwi to surf...
  4. I agree with Charlie 100%. Nick, I've been watching your progress for a couple of years now, and I have to say you have turned out to be a top-notch builder. As Charlie said, you've come a long way, and you should be very proud of yourself. You are one of our "success stories!"
  5. Very nice! Tell me more. What paper are they on? Do you do a line drawing first and then fill in the colors? I assume you used templates? Highlights done with goache? I want the details!
  6. I moved a topic earlier today... it was asking how to remove decals without harming the paint. When I went to move it to the Q&A section, it disappeared! I have no idea how or why. If you're the person who posted that question, repost it. In the Q&A section this time.
  7. Ok, so I'm watching the video and thinking what a completely stupid and useless waste of time this is! So what does this prove? That dogs are pretty smart? We already know that. That dogs can learn to do things we didn't think they could learn? Ok... But even the smartest dog on the planet doesn't have the cognitive ability of even the stupidest human. A dog can't respond to changing conditions in traffic. And besides, a dog can't park a car, or buy gas, or read traffic signs, etc., etc. So the point is, a dog can never be taught to really drive. It's impossible. While teaching a dog to "drive" the way these people did might make for a cute circus act, other than maybe that, what's the point? If you want to teach dogs something, why not teach them something useful, like how to sniff out drugs or bombs, or how to be leader dogs for the blind. Can you imagine the time, effort and money spent on this completely useless project? Aren't the people behind this even a little embarrassed by their complete waste of time and effort? Seriously... they had nothing better to do? Sometimes I just don't understand people.
  8. In no particular order: '68 Corvette '68 or '69 Charger '67 GTX '65ish Jaguar E-Type (not the very first generation, but the revised and improved second gen) Late model Ram pickup Real car: '07 Mustang GT
  9. I've had to delete too many idiotic comments here. This is one of those topics that inevitably leads to bickering and name calling by certain members. I think we can all agree that what happened was a terrible thing, but the name calling and political commentary doesn't help or change anything. No more Connecticut threads, please.
  10. Nice story, but I'm pretty sure someone posted it here a while ago. Congratulations to the woman! Most people don't make it to 102, let alone still drive at that age. Way to go, granny!
  11. Let's save the political commentary for another forum. There are strong feelings and reasonable arguments to be made on both sides of the gun control issue... that's not a fight we should be waging on this forum.
  12. Very nicely done on both of them!
  13. "Not to change the subject?" Why did you post this here? It has nothing to do with the subject!
  14. I agree. Seeing what's in the box would help the consumer with his/her buying decision.
  15. One thing I have done is check out the dollhouse area at Hobby Lobby... I've bought some tiny brass hinges there. Not so bad to go to the checkout with them, but when you're standing there "browsing" the dollhouse items and one of the store employees gives you that look...
  16. I've never done it myself, but I imagine that going to the makeup aisle to buy a couple of bottles of nail polish can be a little awkward...
  17. Nicely done!
  18. Actually it's incredibly easy. Just go to your settings and click on "Change My Photo," which is the very first button right at the top of the page.
  19. Also, your avatar image should be 200x200 pixels.
  20. So you actually expect people to post lists of hundreds of kits? What's the point?
  21. If you upload the photos directly from your computer, they appear as thumbnails that you can click on to see the full-size image. If you want the photos to appear full size in your posts, you have to first put them on a photo-hosting site and upload them here from there.
  22. Did you get my PM???
  23. Ditto to all of the above. Nice job! BTW... I edited your post (just rearranged the photos and the text).
