  1. It's tricky. How do you price a model kit so that your average consumer won't choke on the price, yet still make a profit while at the same time your consumer base is shrinking, not growing? Do you charge less per kit in the hope of selling more kits to fewer people and build sales volume that way... or do you charge more per kit because your consumer base is dwindling and you have to make more money per unit in order to survive? And if you go with the higher price business model, at what price point do you start actually killing sales? Like I said, it's not that easy. I sure don't have the answer.
  2. It was "only" 99 today. A cold front must have passed through...
  3. How did you get rid of the windows? We need more details.
  4. Yeah, the back end looks fine... because they didn't add any "Packard-ization" crap to it. But that front end? Sheesh...
  5. Is it just me, or does anyone else see a catfish's face?
  6. It's only 5 companies. Nobody said it was a comprehensive list...
  7. The mirrors aren't too hard to make. Use aluminum rod for the structure and sheet styrene for the mirrors themselves.
  8. I like them both!
  9. Gotta love Duplicolor!
  10. Well, yeah, there's that, too... and no inside mirror either...
  11. 99% of modelers would never have seen anything wrong with the original roof, but I guess there's a reason you're known as "Mr. Obsessive"...
  12. I was going to mention them, too. They really stick out on an otherwise very well done model. You could strip them, sand them smooth and send them off to ChromeTech USA and have them replated. I think this model deserves it.
  13. Nice! And the two wrecks on either side are cool, too!
  14. Not going to happen without John and George...
  15. That's some very impressive guesswork!
  16. Wow! Another beauty! Very nice. Heck, better than very nice. Spectacular!
  17. Very nice! Those first few photos could almost pass for the real thing. Beautiful!
  18. I've built this kit and wonder why all the comments about how much of a pain it is? Not just here, but in general. I don't remember any particular problems with it. It all fit together just fine. So what is the great problem everyone else seems to be having with this kit? I mean, I realize it's a small kit, there are a lot of small parts... but I didn't have any particular problems. So why the reputation as a "difficult" kit?
  19. Just remember, guys... there is no selling allowed on the forum. Some of these posts are coming awfully close...
  20. Welcome to the asylum!
  21. Yeah, that's pretty much the story that I have read. Packard just didn't do their homework, and they were dragged to their death by the merger. The last "Packard" was a joke. Looks like they took a Studebaker and a few cheesy JC Whitney "customizing" accessories and called it a "Packard!" What an embarrassing end to a prestigious brand.
  22. Gotcha! Well now, that's attention to detail! Nicely done.
