  1. I think that was earlier in the year. They shut down Volt production due to basically not enough consumer demand. Don't know what the current production status is, though. I know there was some sort of problem with them starting on fire, which obviously didn't exactly drive consumers flocking to the dealer to get their hands on one!
  2. Actually I've been thinking about getting out of here for a while now, and not only because of the weather.

    62 Impala

Wow, that is really well done.
  4. The rear seat and rear inner panels are different on a convertible. When they tooled up a new '57, they missed the boat. Offering a "2 in 1" kit with options for the convertible or coupe interior, plus a separate hard top and convertible boot and/or uptop would have been a sales winner, IMO
  5. On a related note, I think I heard somewhere that the Chevy Volt is an absolute sales dog. NOBODY wants one, and in fact the government has bought most Volts, not the general public, in a blatant PR move to boost sales numbers and make the Volt seem more popular than it actually is. Anyone else hear that? Is it true?
  6. I think you hit the nail on the head. A grille is "expected" on a car, necessary or not.
  7. The only cure for what ails you is time. You'll be 18 soon enough. Then you'll be 20, then 30, then 40... and you'll be wishing you were 16 again. Enjoy your youth while you have it. It goes away real fast.
  8. Cheaper than the previous roadster, but still not "cheap." Very cool looking, though. I'd take one of these over a Chevy Volt in a heartbeat. http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2012/07/20/quick-spin-2013-tesla-model-s/?intcmp=features
  9. This is the kit: http://www.ebay.com/...12#ht_500wt_952
  10. This is the stuff you don't want, it's the 1-part glazing putty (basically very thick primer): http://www.amazon.com/Bondo-907-Glazing-Spot-Putty/dp/B0002JM8PY
  11. Yes, it does! Which makes it a much more realistic model than it would have been without them. Very nicely done. Not just the mirrors, the whole thing!
  12. I use this stuff. It's a 2-part catalyzed system, it comes in a reasonably-sized container (not a "lifetime supply" sized can), and it's fairly cheap ($7-8). Make sure you get the "professional" stuff. The regular 1-part putty comes in a very similar looking tube.
  13. Very nice! But where's the little vent grille under the passenger side headlight?
  14. That would make a cool model. Do it!
  15. This topic started out as a series of questions, there were no photos of a model involved. That's why it was moved to the Truck Stop section. Once the model was finished it should have been posted in a new thread, in the Big Rig section.
  16. Final vote: 47 REAL, 17 MODEL. Well, I managed to fool some of you, but most of you got it right. It's REAL!
  17. Correct. I was assuming he meant gloss clear.
  18. Another simple yet effective tutorial. Nice work!
  19. No, not AutoArt, but a huge improvement over what the manufacturer gave you. Beautiful work, Christian. Simple but very effective upgrades that really anyone with basic skills can do. A very nice how-to. Well done.
  20. Holy cow! That guy's work is incredible!
  21. Wow, what a flashback! I remember building that kit way back when I was just a kid!
  22. It's a cool look, especially on a car like this. Something about the body style just works well with a wheel treatment like this. PT Cruisers also look very cool with this same wheel treatment.
  23. Your implication that there is some sort of technological reason that limits a diecast's realism is off base. Some manufacturer's diecast kits or models may well be "off," but if so, it's because of the manufacturer making mistakes, not the fact that it's a diecast. I own quite a few high-end diecasts that put most plastic models to shame as far as realism and proportion goes. Diecast is just the material, it doesn't dictate how realistic or accurate a model can be.
