  1. Another winner from the twisted creative mind of Chuck M.
  2. I think Cranky is a modeling genius!
  3. First of all, some guy's "guesstimate" is basically meaningless. And the "10% of world modelers" figure... where did he pull that from? I think we all know... where the sun don't shine. Second, this is 2011, not 1998-99. To quote myself, there's no way to know. If anyone can come up with a reasonable, logical, accurate and indisputable way to count how many modelers there are, please post it here. I guarantee you, you'll be the first.
  4. Lexus? yawn....... Gimme a Moebius Hornet anytime...
  5. Exactly. If 15,000 kits of a particular model are sold, there is no way to determine how many different people bought them. There's not even any way to figure out if a model builder bought them. Maybe Aunt Sarah bought a model for her little nephew's birthday. There's no direct correlation between number of kits sold and number of model car builders. There is really no way to determine how many model builders there are. About the best you could do is take a poll of enough people to represent a statistically meaningful sample and extrapolate the results. Even then, polls can be iffy. There's no way to determine if people who answer a poll are being truthful or not.
  6. Anyone who gives you a number is basically making it up. There's no way to tell.
  7. Why not just paint the floor white and be done with it?
  8. If it's prone to flooding I'd skip the carpeting and go with tile. Another benefit of tile: you can find dropped parts a lot easier! If budget is a problem, go with self-stick vinyl tiles or vinyl sheet flooring. Simple and cheap.
  9. I gotta be honest... I don't see a whole lot of useful stuff in that kit as far as parts for kitbashing. It's all pretty cartoony; typical TD stuff. If you like the car itself, fine. But as a source of good kitbashing parts? Not so much.
  10. Sure, why not? People in Europe like to go fast, too!
  11. The car in the picture is either a 1957 or 1958 Tatra 603-1. It depends on which website you want to believe. But either way, it's definitely a Series 1 car... the Series 2 had more "normal" quad headlights. Only the Series 1 cars (1957-62) had the weird 3-headlights-in-the-middle setup. 12. Photos are a bit out of focus... but from what I can see, pretty nice model! Welcome aboard!
  13. On the proverbial "slow boat from China?"
  14. You guys all need to take deep breath and chill out. Tyler is ok... he's just looking for some input regarding his casting ideas. And Lee was just saying that maybe some of the parts Tyler was thinking of offering were either already available or maybe easier to scratchbuild. It's all good... we can talk back and forth about stuff here without getting angry.
  15. Guys... take it easy.
  16. I got it at Hobby Lobby a few months ago. It's also available online from a variety of places. Here's just one: http://www.megahobby.com/1829stephensonrocketlocomotivebyminicraft.aspx
  17. Dale and Bill are exactly right. And before you finish up with the Bondo, sand the plastic surface with some fairly coarse sandpaper to give the Bondo something to grab on to.
  18. Yeah, sometimes in the world of print the axe falls... :) But a very nice addendum/update/follow-up to the printed feature!
  19. Someone's memory is suspect here... Pocher never made a Duesenberg.
  20. Nice!
  21. Well, I'm reeeeeeeeally late to this party... but holy cow!!! That's just beautiful work!
  22. No, I used the same ballast that I used on the rail bed. I just painted it black to look like coal..
  23. What we have here... is failure to communicate...
  24. Yeah, sometimes! Not too often, though...
