  1. If that's your good material, you'll never make it...
  2. I'm a little late to the party, but have to echo what everyone else has said: Beautiful work, and that color is really something!
  3. I don't know about a diecast section... but "Other Models" would be a good place to post diecast stuff.
  4. I could make it a lot harder. In fact, I bet I could make it so hard that nobody would get the answer. But what fun would that be???
  5. Bonified? You mean Sally Field owns it? (You've seen her "Boniva" ads?) Or do you mean bona fide???
  6. Remember... don't post any answers (or hints) here. PM me with yor answer. Year, make and model. The answer: 2010 VW Saveiro
  7. Congratulations on foil job #1! It's only going to get easier from here... and pretty soon you'll look back and wonder why you didn't try foiling sooner. I guarantee it.
  8. I agree, that was a classic Simpsons clip! Rev. Lovejoy's voice is Harry Shearer. He does a bunch of other Simpsons characters, too, like Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned, Otto, etc.
  9. From the review (first post): "...though the box art only shows the stake body, the pickup bed is still part of the deal. In fact, so is the wrecker boom." "As I mentioned earlier, all the parts from the previous reissue are here."
  10. This started out as the Testors 1/9 scale Harley Springer Softail Classic. Frame, fork, etc. is semi-gloss black, gas tank and fender is "Odds'n'Ends" Pewter. Among the changes I made: Gave the fork a rake to give it a more "chopperish" look. Left off the front fender, mirrors and turn signals. Seat is semi-scratchbuilt; it's the kit seat with all the unwanted parts cut away, seat springs are bent paper clip wire, front seat pivot attachment bracket is made of thin sheet aluminum with a pinhead "bolt." Rear fender is cut down from the kit piece, fender stays are paper clip wire, taillight from the parts box. The graphics on the sides of the gas tank are actually unused graphics from a 1/32 WWI French Neuport fighter plane, whitewalls are painted on with acrylic craft paint. I ran out of tubing, so the brake and speedometer cables are missing, I'll have to look around to see if I have more cable material. Also... I just realized the headlight isn't there. Ooops. I'll glue it on later!
  11. I've found that the trick to trimming the foil straight is to not try so hard! It's true. If you "concentrate" and reeeeealllly try to follow that line, you tend to tense up and your hand becomes stiff. Let the blade follow allong the edge of the molded-in trim without trying too hard to guide the blade. A sharp, new blade will follow that raised edge of trim just fine, without the need for much pressure on the knife, as long as you keep your hand relaxed. And the best way to get the hang of this technique is by practicing on scrap or junk bodies.
  12. Actually it is, it's a separate part. It just fits real well!
  13. I love how she konks out after she finishes!
  14. This is the 1/9 scale Italeri kit. Paint is Model Master Olive Drab, "leather" holster, seat and saddlebags are a combination of acrylic ocher, Minwax "Dark Walnut" oil stain and "Rosewood" acrylic stain. The windbreaker below the windshield is cut from a piece of fabric and painted with acrylics to look like canvas. The blanket on the rear is cut from the same fabric, but painted green. While the paint was wet I folded it up and formed the wrinkles; when the paint dried it held its shape. The holddown straps are strips of painted masking tape. The strap on the gun is also painted masking tape; the strap attachments are leftover PE pieces from I-don't-remember-where... And at some point after I had everything together the chain broke! I have no idea how to fix it...
  15. How about "In-a-gadda-da-vida?" 17 minutes. Enough time for a bathroom break, a snack and a quick nap!
  16. Very well done. I especially like how you finished the seat.
  17. So how can a small-time model car company like Lindberg get away with "Coke" decals when the "big" model companies can't do "Firestone" or "Goodyear" tires???
  18. Chrome plated engine block/trans? I know Coke makes a big profit, but even they wouldn't do that!
  19. Just in time to be outdated!
  20. You know I'm a huge fan...
  21. Virgil, your work just keeps getting better and better!
  22. I still say there should be a bullseye on each end of the tanks! And you have to love that log!
