  1. If it's causing a commotion at the contest, they should just make a rule about it. But as long as there's no rule against it, I say leave the guy alone. If he wants to enter the same models over and over again, that's his call. It may be "bad form" or whatever in some people's eyes... but if it's not against the rules and it makes him happy, who's to say otherwise?
  2. I guess it really varies from place to place. I haven't gotten mine yet, either.
  3. Foiling is done? What about the "RT" badges on the sides???
  4. Mark T. is right, there is no simple answer here. Both companies have had their hits and misses over the years; there is no way one can accurately say that one manufacturer is "better" overall than the other. Your best bet is to ask for opinions on a specific kit before you buy.
  5. I'm surprised that they found a previously unaccounted-for Tucker after all these years. I thought that all of them were documented and their whereabouts known.
  6. I don't think there's anyone out there who has more fun building models than you!
  7. Here's the story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/fun/sc-cons-0127-autocover-20110127-48,0,1372588.story
  8. Now that we're finally getting a Hornet kit, how about a Tucker next? Full detail, engine and all. How about it, Moebius? You guys seem to be the likeliest candidate for the job, seeing as how you have the you-know-whats to actually take the plunge and bring us some cool new models... And speaking of Tuckers... I read in the paper last Sunday that a previously unaccounted-for Tucker was found in a barn after having sat for 50+ years. Unrestored, all original except for an old repaint and replaced upholstery. An actual honest-to-goodness "barn find." What are the odds that after all these years another Tucker comes to light? Pretty amazing. Here's the story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/fun/sc-cons-0127-autocover-20110127-48,0,1372588.story
  9. I still see the picture...
  10. If the kits are identical, why would the shop stock them both? Why bother having the RoG kit on the shelf if the US version is basically the same exact kit?
  11. Call me crazy... but I think that's a cool-looking car!
  12. I don't work for Walmart (or know anyone who does)... but how does offering a wide variety of consumer goods at great prices equate to "ripping off the poor?" If anything, they're providing the poor with an array of products at a price nobody else can match! That's not ripping people off... that's doing them a favor! Unless you think the poor should shop at places like Nieman-Marcus? Like Tommy says, if anyone is ripping off the poor, it's states that sell lottery tickets. Who mostly buys lottery tickets? The people who can least afford them.
  13. yeah.... people who can seriously put Ferrari on their list when they're new-car shopping aren't going to let a pesky little recession cramp their style...
  14. Sounds like it would be faster if the magazines were sent by carrier pigeon to each address!!! No wonder the USPS is losing billions of $$ a year. There must be a more efficient system than that!
  15. What you're trying to assemble already exists! www.socalcarculture.com is one of the best resources for reference photos. http://public.fotki....ve/muscle_cars/ http://public.fotki....themes/engines/
  16. I managed to fool some of you... but not most of you! Final vote: 34 REAL, 10 MODEL. And it's REAL! http://www.emercedesbenz.com/Sep08/12_001387_eMercedesBenz_Feature_The_Worlds_First_Production_Car_The_Benz_Patent_Motor_Car_Velocipede_Of_1894.html
  17. Actually you probably could have kept your clothes on...
  18. Wow! Model cars don't get much better than that! Amazing!
  19. Actually it has never hit the newsstand. You can only buy it at certain hobby shops or by subscription.
  20. Under 30???!!! More like under 50! Didn't that song come out in 1969 or 70?
  21. Gregg has said several times here on the forum that even if the e-zine version happens, the paper version is not going away... so all you old-timers out there who still churn your own butter and grind your own flour don't have to worry about the paper magazine going away.
  22. Oh, boo hoo! Geez, you might have to break out the long-sleeved shirts!
  23. A few more... O'Hare airport: Typical residential street: Lake Shore Drive: And the neighborhoods:
  24. Great shots, Chuck. They could be calendar pages!
  25. Since I'm no expert on WWII this may be a dumb question... but I would assume that cars assigned to Rommel during the war would have had a desert tan paint job? Or is this a "formal" car not used in the field?
