  1. Ditto to what Rob said.
  2. Dale, that looks really great.
  3. Great job Bob. I missed this one the first time around.
  4. Thanks a lot Alan, I really appreciate it.
  5. Thank you Buzz and Tommy for your kind comments.
  6. Thanks a lot Bob, I appreciate your kind words.
  7. Luis, that's looking really great. Nice work.
  8. Thank you Danno, Cameron & Emmanuel. Cameron, no the A pillar was not broken. I try to be gentle when polishing so I don't break any of the roof pillars. Emmanuel, I seriously doubt that a new kit of this car will be made. We'll just have to be lucky to pick up one of these promos.
  9. Yeah Steve, in '59 the designers seemed to be trying to outdo each other with the "space age" styling of fins. I think the '59 Oldsmobile was one of the oddest looking cars while to me the '59 Ford was the tamest of them all.
  10. Personally, I've built 1 '57 Chevy (last year) and 2 Mustangs, a large scale '64 1/2 and a 1/25 scale '67. The Mustangs were built about 20 years ago. I doubt if I'll build any more of either. The only car that I've built more than i of is a '59 Dodge using Johan promos and that's because I used to own one. I'm probably in the minority but I usually will not build the same car more than once so the model mfgrs. won't be making any bucks from me when they keep reissuing them.
  11. Thank you Dave and Guy, I appreciate your kind words. Yes Guy, the cars from 1959 were the epitome of gaudy styling excesses, although I think the 1958 cars had them beat with chrome and stainless trim. I love them all..
  12. It would drive me crazy having so many projects going on at the same time...... I couldn't do it. I work on one model at a time until either I finish it, or, I hit a big snag and then it goes back in its box and I work on a different one.
  13. Thanks Terry. I too love all of the cars from the '50's. Christopher, no I usually will not modify any of the promos that I redo other than paint, BMF, mirrors and antenna's.... and adding whitewall tires.
  14. That is looking really great Steven. I love the work you do on the interiors.
  15. Thanks so much for all your kind words guys, I really appreciate it. I really enjoy working on these Curbside promos. I've been very lucky in being able to pick up so many on EBAY last year for cheap prices that are not warped and that have good chrome and glass. I've also had the same good luck getting old builtups and a couple of unbuilt and unpainted old kits. The only car I've been unable to snag yet is a '59 Mercury as I keep getting outbid on the many I've tried to get. Patience will win out eventually, or, I'll have to wind up getting a resin kit from Modelhaus down the road.
  16. You can try using a polishing kit (progressively finer grits of sanding cloths), or, Novus 2 plastic polish. It will take you awhile, depending on what type of glue you used, but either of these methods should bring the glass back to perfect shape.
  17. Thanks very much everyone. Jeff, I don't know if I'll be bringing this one to the Castle Shannon show as I have a few others that I was planning to bring. Peter, I also have a '59 Ford promo in my TO DO pile...... and it's a very BIG pile. I've got at least 2 dozen 1950's cars waiting to be worked on. Bruce, yeah in addition to the flat black in the wheelwells, I have to add an antenna and fix that divot on the driver side chrome trim.
  18. Thanks very much guys. Steven, I think this is a repop promo and you're right in that it is not warped at all. It has a resin interior that I got from Modelhaus. I trimmed off the side glass and added interior visors made from sheet plastic and a dome light. I've got a bunch of other '59's to work on including a '59 Chrysler New Yorker and a '59 DeSoto. I've already done a '59 Imperial and '59 Dodge so I'll eventually have all the '59 Mopars done.
  19. That looks great Carl, I love the color.
  20. Thanks Harry. Boy the camera really makes those little gaffs stand out. The roof color is Wimbledon White and the body color is Duplicolor Light Blue Metallic.
  21. After an almost 3 month hiatus from model building, I finally got my butt down to my model room to finish this car which I started back in Spring. With the onset of nice weather and doing outside chores I just wasn't in the mood to be cooped up down in my basement. In addition we had a handyman do a bunch of chores and Mr. Fixit type stuff in and around the house for the past 2 months. With Fall approaching I'll be getting back to working on the dozens of 1950's cars I have stockpiled. This Plymouth is a Johan promo that I picked up last year on EBAY. The buildup details can be found in the Workbench thread for this car that I posted last year.
  22. lock coming in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - ................................
  23. Yes, extremely nice work on ALL of those vehicles Harry.
  24. Yes, Curbside models are usually quicker and easier to finish up because you don't have to worry about engine or chassis details. Just do up the interior and finish the paint and trim on the body and you're done. A Slammer will usually have the blacked out windows with no interior but paint and trim on the body.
