Not counting the 3 cars that are in the purple pond, I'm inching along on a '59 Dodge Street Machine. I'm using a Johan promo that I started on several years ago but which got misplaced. I've recently rediscovered it while cleaning out my garage. I ground out the grille from the rear and attached some PE mesh. I sanded off the mold lines on the bumper, went over it with a polishing kit and used the Molotow marker to "rechrome" it, which came out great. I opened up the hood and I'm using the chassis and Hemi engine from a 2005 Chrysler and am also considering trying to use the Chrysler's interior also. It's a bit of a project... Now if I could just get my life's events from getting in the way, I might actually be able to make some real progress on it.

Today I finally received my last and final order from Modelhaus... I didn't unpack everything so I don't have pictures... I got a 1950 Nash, a 1957 Desoto, a 1957 Lincoln, a 1959 Oldsmobile, and the interior for a 1956 Plymouth. I thanked Don & Carol for their fine products and service over the years, and wished them a happy and safe retirement. Carol responded, advising that it will most likely be another year before they are actually able to retire...!!!!!!

More on Molotow pens
Ramfins59 replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm currently working on a '59 Dodge Street Machine using a Johan promo. After experimenting with a parts box bumper, I sanded off the mold lines on the edges of the front bumper and then used a polishing kit to remove all the scratches. I then used a 4mm Molotow pen to "re-chrome" where I sanded. It came out fantastically good and you can't tell the difference between the chrome plating and the Molotow ink. I'll post pictures as soon as I can. I can't wait to try the Molotow pens to "chrome" some resin grilles and/or bumpers. -

Bare Metal Foil Questions
Ramfins59 replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I built my '58 Cadillac by Imex/Arii, I had trouble getting the gold foil to stick when trimming the hood emblems. I applied a thin coat of clear enamel to the emblems with a small brush and then burnished the gold foil down using a QTip and a wooden toothpick. I let that dry overnight then trimmed the foiled emblems with a fresh XActo blade the next day. It came out great. -

Anyone else experiencing a delay when clicking on a post etc?

Ditto... Hopefully that is one of the "foibles" that Dave Ambrose and/or the tech staff of the Forum are working on to fix. -

1950s Car Fan Here
Ramfins59 replied to larrykmontgomery@gmail.com's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Welcome to our plastic playground Larry. I too am a fan of the 1950's cars. My goal for the last few years is to build all the American cars I can for each year of the 1950's. Not every car is made in plastic kit form, so I'm using promos, resin kits and diecasts to get all the cars that I can. So far I've almost completed the collection for 1956 & 1958, with only 3 cars left in each of those years to complete. It is a challenging task but a fun one as the 50's cars are so stylish and full of chrome. -

Yes, Harry was a passionate, extremely talented, and avid modeler. I'm sure that there are many fellow modelers on this Forum who would be thrilled to own any of Harry's models and would treasure them in honor of his memory. First of all, a suggestion would be to pick at least one, or several of his fantastically built and detailed car models to go to the Model Car Builders Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah where they would be displayed in memory of him. You would need to contact Mark Gustavson in Utah for details as to how to proceed with that. Or, I'm sure that either Gregg Hutchings or other Forum members could help you with that. As far as selling them, as has been suggested EBAY would probably bring you the biggest financial return, if that is what you desire. Otherwise, posting a list of what you want to "dispose of" here on the Forum along with pictures of the items, and then asking all those people interested to send you a PM (Private Message) with their purchase offer might be a way to handle it. Possibly Gregg Hutchings would have ideas or suggestions for you in that regard. Harry was a great friend and inspiration to the members of this Forum. I wish you all the best in handling this difficult chore.
