Welcome to our plastic playground Dale. I'm sorry that I cannot answer your question, but I have to mention that my brother lives in Laconia (Lakeport). It has been quite a few years since I have been up there in that beautiful country.
Pick up a bottle of Weatherall at a well stocked Hobby Shop or Model Train shop. Shake the bottle well to mix up the contents and then either dip your wood into the bottle, or paint it on using a brush (I've used wooden coffee stirrers and/or wooden popsicle sticks). The Weatherall grays the wood to make it look aged....... the more you dip or brush on, the more aged it will look.
You can get some PE (photo-etched) metal sets for certain kits from Model Car Garage. Some of us use BMF (Bare Metal Foil) to cover lettering and/or emblems before painting, and then either use paint thinner to gently remove the paint from the raised lettering or emblems, or carefully and lightly sanding the paint away with polishing cloths or sticks.
I'm awaiting my last order that I placed with them back in May 2016. I ordered a '50 Nash, a '57 Desoto, a '57 Lincoln, a '59 Oldsmobile, and the interior for a '56 Plymouth. I'm not expecting to receive them for another couple of months.
