As previously stated, I think "Best" would be a tough call, because there is no beast car, or best road, or best this that or the other, because the answer depends on situation. One car may handle in corners better, another may have more straight line speed, another gets better mileage, etc etc Same for drivers. The thing that amazes me is just how close these guys can run times. These drivers immensely skilled at what they do, and I would say on average more well rounded drivers, and they are certainly testicularly fortified. If I had the money, the guts, the skill, I would love to do some road racing. Eric Bana the actor took a car from his teenage years and built a road racer, and they did a nicer little documentary for it. It was a nice ride without being high end uber skilled driver owned, it was called "Love the Beast"

Got hold of a mpc Ford EXP Finally!
Modelbuilder Mark replied to MsDano85gt's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I agree, I had an EXP around 87-88, and when the saw the Escort EXP, I could not for the life of me figure out why they did that to it. -
That is one determined dog! I have heard that as well. Mi wife has a bunch of pictures of him sleeping on his back, but poor thing, looks so exposed in the pictures I just could not bring myself to post them. LOL

I am a bit OCD and for years I did not want a dog. It is tough with the jumping up on things, etc etc, well it just was not something I wanted to deal with. After 17 years the wife decided tough and she brought home Henry. I could live with him, or get out. Well... he is still tough on the OCD and he does get into stuff, but yeah I fell for him LOL. He is now 5 mos old and pushing 35 pounds. Pit mix, but not sure the "other". He has huge paws, and somewhat short legs at this point, and is the only dog I ever came across that does NOT like peanut butter,,,,,,he will eat anything but that. He spends time in the model room, but is good and stays at the door, and does not get into anything, unless the wife runs the vacuum, then he is under my feet. Still a puppy really I guess. Oh, and I have never seen a dog that sleeps on his back as much as Henry, and he Snores, a lot.

ummm, no, I cannot come up with it. BUT....to each his own. The owner/builder made it for themselves, not me, so if they are happy, good for them.

MPG estimates vs. reality
Modelbuilder Mark replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is from www.fueleconomy.gov the 31.1 is what actual owners report averaging. The 28 combined listed below is also what we list on the Scion website as well. On my 2013 FR-S I avg 30.3 since my last oil change. This appears to be consistant for other owners as well. It is nice to get better than expected or promised. 2013 Scion FR-S 2.0 L, 4 cyl, Automatic (S6) 25 City 28 Combined 34 Highway 31.1 Show Details -
Always nice to see something different, a very nice job indeed! I built the bobby allison matador as a kid, and then used it as a smash up derby years later. ALways thought it was a different kind of cool.

Looking good so far! -
Barrier vs Primer, Primer gives you a "surface" to work with. SO you can make it nice and smooth. A Barrier "seperates" surfaces. So if you have a red molded plastic body that you wanted painted say yellow, and not turn orange in the process, you would need a barrier. A good primer usually does both, but in SOME intances, some plastic is stuburn for some people, then they use a barrier. The barrier again can also protect the surface from somthing like hot paints. I have personally never used future as a barrier, and have never had luck shooting it as clear. I use it to dip windows to make them look better, and to treat tires.

Welcome, looking forward to seeing some of your work. -
Well, it wont do much to eliminate the stove, but I always use modifiers, like -1/87 or -lot -parts etc. this way it removes them from my search....the stove..um, yeah, do not get that at all, not if it were in scale, that would be cool.

model master paint rack question
Modelbuilder Mark replied to dwayne4385's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Go in low ball, I doubt he has a lot of other people looking at it. I also got one I had from a large chain hobby shop that was remodeling, and I also got mine for free. I would go in around $5 or $10 and see if he bites. Again, I doubt he has a lot of folks asking about it.....now....where did you -
Getting rid of tv programming tired of reality tv
Modelbuilder Mark replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Add to that the fact that VERY few "reality" TV shows have much at all to do with reality. They are over acted, scripted, etc etc. A very few of the automotive shows are watchable, like auto week, Geerz etc. but some of the others, very ilttle to do with cars, and that is a shame. I would rather channels like Velocity just air auto/race/care/etc movies all the time. -
The simple answer to your question is yes, you can use all sorts of stuff. Automotive paint, craft paint, fingernail polish etc etc. Just test spare sprue if you can as others have suggested, and try to create that barrier using a good primer. There are several things you can try like the duplicolor primer, or several sold just for the hobby, you can also use a self etching barrier primer like Variprime two part but that is expensive. I know some folks even try to use Future as a barrier, although I have never tried that and would be hesitant to.

34 Rolls Royce Rat Rod - Italeri - 1/24

Not sure what you used as the base color under those headlights, but the affect is great. -
Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the feedback. It was a Johan kit, well that was pretty much a modified promo really. I had been looking for one for a long time at a decent price, and thankfully was able to straight up trade for one with someone from the forum here. Thanks also for the feedback on the motor. Like I said, the shifter was a bit wonky, and honestly for a long time I thought it was after market. I really really enjoyed the car Harry, you are right sir. I realized I had forgotten that when I was posting those pictures. They will indeed be painted, likely tomorrow. Some of them have just the little strip up the middle which I prefer, others have the entire pad like this photo below. If I could find some old pictures of my car, I would post them up.

This looks pretty darn close to one of my cars from high school. A farmer ran a stop sign and plowed into the side. It had a V8 but I do not recall what size. The one thing I did not like about the car was the transmission. It was a three on the floor, so it always felt like it wound out way too soon, AND sometimes when you backed up, the linkage would stick and you would have to reach under and jiggle it. It was a fun car, and I would like to have another one some day. Bumpers and grill are Alclad, the rest is foil. Paint is Scalefinishes enamel. Just a curbside, well, glorified promo from Johan really.
