Locked in some isles, and not in others is odd. The Hobby Lobby's here have all paints locked up as well.....unless they go on clearance, then all of a sudden it is ok to set them out!? I know that here in Phoenix, you are supposed to be 18 to buy paints, and in some stores like Hobby Lobby, some clerks will not let you carry the paint. They take it to the checkout and have it waiting there. I am sure it has to do with taggers and trying to cut back on graffiti. Also, the Tamyia can primers are separate from the other paints, and they leave them out near the airbrush supplies.

Thanks everyone. I managed to get quite a bit of time at the bench this weekend. There was a lot of little things like modifying the styrene tie rod to have the rod made from music wire, same for the steering linkage etc, but since there was a lot of little things this weekend, I did not get pictures of it all. BTW, still interested if anyone out there can take a file and print them to decal for me. Built a little frame work to hold the bed. The mounting points were missing so I fabricated some from styrene tube. sine this truck will be representing a working shop truck for a small farm, it will be dirtied up more than rusted out finally up on all fours you can kind of see where I am headed

LHS (Local Hobby Shop)
Modelbuilder Mark replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I lived in Muncie for a while when I was married to my first wife about 20 years ago, and there used to be a couple places I went to. One was called Gupta Hobby and craft, right near the Ball State campus, and the other was over near the Ball Museum, but they were mostly RC etc. Gupta did not have much, but they were close and would order stuff back then. I take it they are gone now. -

I go to Hobby Depot in Tempe, AZ as well. I am in there almost every weekend, picking up supplies or a magazine, seeing if anything new is in. It is indeed locally owned by Dick and Suzzane. They have a frequent shoppers reward program. -
How can I make this chain
Modelbuilder Mark replied to kendog261's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You can then use small sections of clear heat shrink tubing over the tiny chain. -
You do not have to be "over" any speed. Regardless of the speed you are driving, our state's law says you yield to the faster traffic behind you. As the sign says, "slower traffic, keep right". So, if you are doing 50, and someone is behind you doing say 55, then you yield the lane. In this case, the speed limit is 65, and folks consistently run 55. On this particular highway, that can create unnecessary congestion. I am not asking them to run 75, just allow the flow of traffic, which is the law in MOST states. In at least 8 states the law actually says that you must keep right at all times unless passing, like Joe's state of Illinois above. For most states tho, the law simply states "slower" traffic keeps right. SO yeah, if you are doing 95, and someone comes up on you doing 96, then yup, more over, let them by, then you can smile, waive and laugh at them if they get pulled over. The Uniform Vehicle Code states: "Upon all roadways any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic ..." Note that this law refers to the "normal" speed of traffic, not the "legal" speed of traffic. The 60 MPH driver in a 55 MPH zone where everybody else is going 65 MPH must move right. Contrast Alaska's rule, 13 AAC 002.50, allowing vehicles driving at the speed limit to use the left lane, and Colorado rev. stat. 42-4-1103, prohibiting blocking the "normal and reasonable" movement of traffic. Upon all roadways any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic ... I am not encouraging people to speed, just be courteous and obey the law the same as expecting speeders not to speed. Oh, and Joe, you are correct, your state is a KEEP right state. Here is a list with links to each states code. http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/right.html

People "camping out" in the passing lane. Despite the fact that there are multiple signs advising for "slower traffic keep right" on the stretch of highway I live on, some people just will not have the decency to move over when you come up behind them. Now, this would not be so bad if you could actually pass on the right, which again I should not have to, but it is usually with someone in the cruising lane as well so both lanes get blocked. This 12 mile stretch is consistently congested simply because traffic cannot flow. Yes, there are laws in most states about it, but regardless people just do not seem to understand the basic concept of courtesy.

Here is the Ford motor I used a few years back, and I like the results. They can be "fiddly", but hey..sometimes that just is the way it works. -

KEEP CALM and FOCUS
Modelbuilder Mark replied to James2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
well, I try really really hard, then... Squirrel! In all seriousness, I just try to limit the number of started projects, and then keep my work area somewhat organized. I find that when it is cluttered, so are my thoughts to some extent. Usually, if I have the 2 or 3 projects going, so I can bounch back and forth between them to help keep my mind from wondering onto new projects. If I have a new idea, I set it in the "list" which I try to prioritize. Ultimately, I just try not to set too many expectations that will detract from my enjoyment, such as "this many completed projects this year", or "this one done by this date" that create un-needed preasure. I do set goals of more bench time, more test fitting etc, and still sometimes try to meet a build goal for a group project etc, but in the end, I would say, just relax and enjoy the builing process. If you finish it great, if not, was the journey a good one? Then great. -
Thanks guys! Yeah Bart, that was one of two grills I made a few months after a fellow builder was so insistent I try that he mailed me the fenders. I just used both the front and back sections of the fenders. Not sure I will use it or not, depends on how the front end works out. My biggest issue on this one, is my rush to try to finish it by next week. I will only have a few bench session between now and then, so if design issues I have not yet worked out, like front axle placement, get in the way then I may just use another grill. I actually made two, a "new" one and the "used" one. I think I left them too long, but hey, they were Edsels, right? Here are both together. Thanks Richard, but if you build the same one, it will likely shame mine! The bottom of the bed was a cut away section from an old Lindberg 32 Ford pickup bed that was very square, no tie to the real thing. It was more of a battery box really, I just cut the bottom section off for the base of this bed, and the wood is coffee stirs and scale lumber from the hobby shop.
