  1. An old Tamiya kit from my stash, (copyright date says 1982, but I thought I picked it up mid 90s) just got around to building it because I wanted something "quick" after my last in depth project. This is molded in a metallic silver/grey plastic that I found to be VERY brittle, and I did end up breaking/cracking several pieces as I worked with them. There are fairly heavy mold seems that run along the upper fenders at all corners, along the side roof lines, etc. I thought I got them all, but one area showed up really bad near the rear trunk drivers side, but I was too far into the paint work for a shelf build to strip it. The paint is Scalefinishes Mercedes Diamond Blue, and given that I am not a great photographer, it looks more silver in these pics that in person. Battery and spark-plugs wired, plumbed the water reservoir tank, swapped out the wheels for parts box items but kept the kit tires. Other than some light weathering, that is is. It has a 5.0 V8, and only leaks a little oil. Not bad, as the plates read 1996. The chassis did get a few more washes of dust and dirt. I added calipers that could be seen through the wheels, widened the wheel wells as the kits left too large of a gap.
  2. This a great place to see some great work, pick up some tips and techniques, and share you work, as well as partake in the genius of others. Welcome to the forum, and the hobby!
  3. Cool, what do thou have working on the rear there?
  4. Interesting. I have had those wheels in my stash for 15+ years and never thought about this application. Cool.
  5. Very interesting, might be hard to work with. Looks like it could be used in small controlled areas like creating shifter boots, or rubber seals around joints.
  6. Vey cool, you should be pleased
  7. Looks cool, but it looks like you may have your work cut out for you where the dog house meets the cowl.
  8. I would normally prefer the chrome reverse myself, but given the modern motor, the second set looks like a good fit
  9. Such a great looking ride, would be proud to cruise in it.
  10. Really hoping this project does not stall..
  11. Welcome back to the hobby!
  12. Great looking model. Proof that clean building with selective upgrades can really make a model shine.
  13. Very nice! LOL, are you weathering it, or have you weathered others? Rusty and grimy?
  14. Well, I will sometimes use the Hobby Lobby coupon, so I "stock up". They also have them on clearance from time to time, and I pay around $1.50-$2 a can, so I do buy several in advance. About two years ago they cleared out most of their colors of metalizers (The only one I seem to see them have now is aluminum), so I bought every single one I could. I have no issue with those. I can still use these that have seeped, but I assume I need to soon, or decant them.
  15. Thanks for sharing, enjoy seeing show pics.
