  1. I'm sure you are correct about using their 1/2 oz bottles. I have not tried that since I tend to use other companies paints now. My frustration with the spray cans was pretty much as I stated. The few times that everything went as it should the final finish was acceptable at best.
  2. I have always had a great respect for the slant six. I have worked with many of our northern neighbors thru the years and have always wondered why they all seam so content with the base engines in their personal cars.
  3. Looks like a great show. To far away to attend of course. I hope that someone will post picture for those of use that can't attend.
  4. You might even give the body another light sanding with say a 3200 pad just to eliminate any uneven finish.
  5. As you can see there are many different paint options. For myself I have two very big reasons I no longer use Testors Enamels. #1 its the bloody spray nozzles and #2 I sure you have heard the expression of "watching paint dry" tells you all you need to know about the drying time. If you have the time the product its self is good.
  6. Very nice, if you are headed off road you will want a much better air filtration system.
  7. Love your build. I never realized that AMT issued this with the duel rear tires like the box art. Always knew it as the 3 in 1 with the stake bed option.
  8. Another of your beautiful builds in signature black. Very nicely detailed.
  9. Like all of the ground effects and the hood intakes. I kind of agree with the engine cover, I think it hides the detail work on the engine. Very nice paint and the wheels really show off the disc brakes.
  10. Beautiful build, the dark blue really shows the body lines. The Good Year decals, since everyone else has commented. It looks like when Good Year stenciled their name with spray paint on their racing tires. So maybe this car is headed to a SCCA event or something. That would be in character for such a car.
  11. Great looking build. I share your love of these cars. I owned a Hugger Orange '69 Camaro for a total of 18 years. I was the second and forth owner of the car and sold it in '95 to get a new pickup. Now I couldn't afford to buy a Camaro of that quality for less than the cost of a new car. You build looks just the way I remember these cars when they were everywhere.
  12. Beautiful build of an Iconic race car.
  13. Very nice. I like the way you made a Custom look more like a Road Racer. The lace paint treatment is something I have also wanted to try.
  14. Are going with the "Leaning Tower of Power" or something far bigger ?
  15. A thought on an out building. I used to live in Sacramento and had a large back yard. I used a two car garage kit from Home Depot. It was used for models and work out equipment, but I think if you built a wall with a weather tight seal between the wood shop and the model side that might work. Like your area, Sacramento has some hellish summer temps and can reach freezing temps in the winter. I installed an overhead with lighting and R30 insulation. The walls had R20 and covered with sheet rock. I covered the slab with peal and stick floor covering and replaced the garage door with a double wide door and a couple of windows. In the winter I used a small wood stove for heat, and the summers never seemed to make it to hot inside because of the insulation. Tuff Shed also offers some interesting buildings.
  16. Love the look. Very nice custom.
  17. Well built. The under carriage shows all the components well.
  18. What a great looking Shop Truck.
  19. Very nice. Still shows well.
  20. Looks great, like something the factory should or could have done.
  21. Just noticed your build. I also have one of these in my stash from long long ago. Now that you have shown how it can all be corrected I might also try building this rather poorly done kit.
  22. Are you going to make a showroom stock Z-28 or IROC, or something a little more contemporary ?
  23. I agree with everyone else on the effect from the Holomatic Chrome. This could be used for an appearance on select parts that you may have never considered before.
  24. If you are not going to use the kit for parts, then one repair others have used on damaged bodies involves putting the body in a baggie and leaving it in the freezer. This is used to get the glue to release the glued parts. I've never tried it but there are many here who use it with great success.
  25. I had to use Amazon when I ran out of polish over a year ago. It may take a couple of days but that's they way I'd go.
