It started as a Tom Daniel " Boss Bulldozer " snap kit I found on ebay . It's from 1972 and as far as I know it's never been reissued . When I got it there were a few pieces missing and broken . I made those and added Hemi cylinder heads and valve covers from my parts box .
Here's what it looked like when I got it .
They are beautiful models ! Your Fire Truck is excellent . . . nicest I've seen !
Where did you get the rear suspension in the Rodder's Journal version ?
Very nice looking build . I'm not a fan either , but your decal is very impressive ! A decal that large is difficult to apply without wrinkles and air bubbles . What brand of paper did you use ?
I keep it laying flat in the envelope in my refrigerator . I have one sheet of BMF that is almost 2 years old and it works just like it was new . It had a few wrinkles when I bought it but I've found that they can be smoothed out when applying the BMF and they completely dissappear ! Of course I only do this if I really have to .
FYI - The Summers brothers , Bill and Bob , set the land speed record for naturally aspirated piston engines in November of 1965 with the Goldenrod . A speed of 409.277 mph that still stands today !
It must depend on the store and who orders the stock . Our HL has had the same kits for a year or more with very few changes . The only new releases I've noticed are the AMT " Double " kits . Whoever does the ordering must check the box " Reorder All " without even thinking ! Michaels is the same way .
My LHS has new releases on his shelf within a week of when I see them on the internet . He's great !
I remember seeing a lot of Richard Carroll builds on the cover and in Car Model Magazine in the late 60's and early 70's . He always made custom "working" suspensions and cast his own tires . They were pretty amazing stuff ! The picture on that card is one of them , if you look close you can see how detailed the suspension is .
