  1. Sweet!!! Best builtups of both, that I've ever seen!!!!
  2. It's rumored that the molds don't even exist for these anymore. I would love to see them re-issued. Just for the simple fact that I could complete the builds of the series without breaking the bank. But, if it has to be, I'll simply wait until I can score them, one at a time, as I got this one. I wasn't there to buy them new. When they were 20 years old, I figured they'd be around whenever I wanted them. I was wrong. Guess it just goes to show, if you want something........and you think the price is right............you better get it. Or, it may not be there anymore. I'll just wait.....and dream. Eventually, I'll get them.
  3. Just beautiful!!
  4. Oh yeah! Awesome build! and it's green too!!!!
  5. Thanks very much for all the compliments. I'll be sure to post some pics of it hooked up to the tow vehicle.
  6. Beautiful build!
  7. Another beautiful build!
  8. Gorgeous!
  9. Oh Yeah!!!! Thanks Kevin, I'll be ordering a set too!
  10. Thanks very much guys. If it were a Galaxie trailer, I still don't feel it would be contest worthy. Just a cool display model. Best way to get the entire box on this thing together is with lots of body shop tape. Just rig it up best you can and stick little pieces of tape everywhere, then either CA glue from the inside or flow a little MEK into the joints on the inside. You may even want to use some 5 min epoxy, just so you can work with it a bit. If it's not totally square at the bottom rear, it's ok, it will flex a bit and once it's on the frame, it should straighten out. I will take more pics when I hook it up to the wagon. Not sure when that will be though, hopefully soon. Have a few more things to finish up first. As far as the headers on my digger, those started life as two headers from the Lincoln engine kit in the Double T kit. Simply filed off one of the tubes, and inverted one through the other, lined up with the Slant perfectly!
  11. I've had my slant six rail done for quite some time, but recently got a vintage car trailer in a trade from another board member. It was one of the clear "display" trailers. I shot the frame and tounge in "utility" green, changed out the tires and wheels to wide whites with chrome reverse, used some parts box dagmar tail lights, fenders and front storage box are light green metallic, and I used Spaz-Stix on the body to simulate aluminum. This thing was a bear to get lined up, and it is off a little here and there, but makes for a good shelf model to go along with my dragster. I may throw a hitch on my green '60 Plymouth wagon to tow it with.
  12. Here is a pic I forgot to post. This is how I got the kit. As you can see, I had to reverse the colors to make it correct per Exner's drawing.
  13. Another gorgeous horseless carriage build!
  14. Man, what a gorgeous dragster. The little details make a ton of difference here! Love everything about this one!
  15. The Duesenburg that was kitted was the '63 Exner design. They already had the kits tooled up when the real '66 version was commissioned. There is some type of V-8 engine in my build, but with the crude engine compartment, I felt it best to leave the hood on it.
  16. Sweet! Love it!
  17. Looks wild Jim! I like it with the engine cover cut down. Great color for it too.
  18. I've heard that the molds are long gone. Perhaps someone will chime confirming or negating that? As far as polishing it goes, it honestly doesn't need to be polished. It shines very well, it just looks bad in my photos. I have no idea why. I'll try getting some better shots tomorrow.
  19. Super beautiful build! Perfect color, and stunning craftsmanship. The wire's look great!
  20. Wild! Awesome job on the frame and suspension, love the bags on the front end, really good looking build!
  21. I noticed that Harry. Really big gaps around the doors. Danbury actually did the first prototype, the one they called the "Tin Goose". I actually like the looks of that car better. (both 1:1 and as a model), but they run significantly higher than these Franklins.
  22. Finally got one of these. These were designed by famous Chrysler stylist Virgil Exner, after he left Chrysler in 1963, and were shown as drawings in the December 1963 issue of Esquire magazine. Renwal kitted them in 1:25 scale, and called them the Renwal Revival Series '66 models. Got this one as a builtup glue-bomb on the 'Bay. It was complete however. I did not attempt to seperate the three piece body, because it was glued heavily. The interior is done in Krylon Maroon satin finish, and the body is black and red Rustoleum straight enamel. It actually shines better in person, and looks cleaner in person than the pics, due to quite a bit of reflection. All the chrome was shot, so it's done in Spaz-Stix. Now, I need to find an original box for it, and the rest of the cars in the series! Not an easy or inexpensive task, but what a neat display it would make when accomplished.
  23. I sold my 1:18 version by Yatming, and picked up this 1:24 version by Franklin Mint. Grabbed it on the 'Bay, no box, described as very nice displayed condition. Total was under $40 bucks delivered. It showed up better than I expected. I did have to give it a bath to clean some dust out, and gave it a nice polishing with some wax. Nothing broken or missing, and no damage! Although after I took these pics, I did notice a couple of door handles that I could straighten out a bit. This particular model is in factory Waltz Blue metallic. Was very happy to add this one to my display case.
  24. Nice! Sweet job on the roof!
