  1. Wow, what are the chances yours and his would be the same color combo..............very nice build!
  2. Gorgeous clean build!
  3. Stunning build! The interior is exceptionally well done!
  4. Sweet looking Comet! You and Crazyjim must have been building on the same wavelength!
  5. Incredible build! I love the shot of it sitting next to the Mercer. Sure is nice to see a Stutz in a color other than white or bright yellow!
  6. Good lookin' little Comet!
  7. Very very nice build!
  8. Sweet! The look is right on!
  9. I don't think anyone casts anything. Best bet is a wanted ad. Someone may have the parts from the annual Volare kit or the Volare Roadrunner kit (same parts).
  10. I know.......we sure could use a good '55-6 B.O.P. kit. Even if it's a 2 door sedan.
  11. Thanks very much guys. I love the old X-EL's too. JoHan has always been my favorite. I am a bit what you would call an eccentric.........I love odd ball colors, 4 doors, station wagons, every day stuff, rockabilly, doo wop, old photographs, and whatever else can educate me of times past. For me, it's not only a hobby, but a way of life.
  12. Thank you man, that means a lot! Also, thanks to everyone for the compliments.
  13. I generally don't post a bunch in this section of the forums, but I recently found one of my "grails" in a bunch of parts I bought online. I had figured it wouldn't be complete, but I was surprised and happy to find most of the parts in the lot. I am missing only a few things, and I've placed a wanted ad in the appropriate section on these forums. Anyway, I wish I had a before pic to show you, but when I got this thing, it was a total glue/putty bomb. Reason I say putty is because someone had filled every seam and opening part on this thing, all smoothed over with a heavy dose of some old sawdust looking BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. Then they proceeded to cover it all in heavy brush painted yellow. I took a shot, soaked the entire thing in the pond before I even tried to pull anything apart, hoping it would soften the putty. It worked! Still waiting on the interior and frame to come clean. What's left of the yellow on the stripped body is where the putty was. It is very fixable with nothing more than some sanding and light filling here and there. Time to finish this one depends on finding the few parts I need. Next is on to finding the Flying Dutchman funny car kit, which is what became of one of the bodies from the three examples of this concept car that Chrysler built. Anyone have one of these things? If so, I'd love to see some built. Even the Flying Dutchman for that matter.
  14. Here's my X-EL reissue promo that I've had for years. It's a '56 Olds Ninety Eight Holiday 4dr hardtop, factory colors are Rose Mist metallic and Antique White. Back before I learned about BMF, years ago, I had painted the trim silver with good old sticky Testors, Recently, in between other builds, I've been fixing and upgrading some of my old builds. On this one, I had to carefully try to remove all the silver from the trim without damaging the factory Rose Mist that JoHan had sprayed on all those years ago. After a fist full of cotton swabs, and a nose full of spirits, it worked. I then polished the body out, and foiled it appropriately.
  15. This is the second time I've looked at this build today. Although it's a very nice build, and ultra clean, I just didn't know if I could go for the black trim and wheels. But looking again, it kind of grew on me. I like it!
  16. Incredible weathering! Very realistic! What method did you use to achieve the ultra realistic finish on the body? A buddy of mine had a '60 Edsel h/t that was in that exact same condition.
  17. Looks good Jim!
  18. That's beautiful! Fantastic scratch job on the deck too! I bet those WH dudes went nuts when they saw how your model came out!
  19. I'll be another to say I like the color on it. Also very nice interior!
  20. I don't have a pic of all my trucks together, but here's some of them I have already taken pics of.
  21. Very nice! Just goes to show, they don't have to be chopped to look right!
  22. Incredible kustom! The decals fit perfectly!
  23. Cool weathering, I like your garage displays too.
