large scale Large Scale, Paint, airbrush size
Bugatti Fan replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have just a couple of very old Badgers that have served me well for goodness knows how many years. it's not so much what airbrush you have, but getting the nozzle and needle right for the viscosity of paint being used. I tend to whack on paint straight from aerosols too with OK results. Aight -
Cheers Jason. Might well PM you when I start my build. Thanks for your kind offer. Noel

Large Scale Forum ?
Bugatti Fan replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
I can see where this is going guys. Respective points have now been made. Let's get back to discussing if a Large Scale section would be desirable or not. -
Large Scale Forum ?
Bugatti Fan replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
Chill out Pete. People are people. We are all different. Some are very organised whilst others live in chaos. You cannot change them ! You can take a horse to water but cannot always make it drink ! No matter how much you try, you will not get folk to change how they use (or misuse) this forum no matter how much cajoling. Best not to get up tight about it and just accept the situation for what it is as it is not worth worrying about and just enjoy carrying on building our models. -

Large Scale Forum ?

Xingu has mentioned in his last post that big changes are in the pipe line. It will be interesting to see what they will be when the time comes. No.mention was made about any user consultation about any changes, so we will just have to see what happens. They will please some and not others as all these things do when they are instigated. -
Alfa Romeo 158/59
Bugatti Fan replied to Chris Smith's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
A fantastic build. Always liked the look of this racing car from the fifties. I have seen a number of posts describing your model as 'museum quality'. From what I have seen of museum models the vast majority that I have looked at fall well below the benchmark of Chris's model. Superb ! -
Large Scale Forum ?
Bugatti Fan replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
At the time Big Boys was absorbed the Scale Motorcars forum that tended to attract the large scale car modeller was active. That's probably why Big Boys did not attract that many posts. The Scale Motorcars forum has since gone as they were having all sorts of technical difficulties with running it. So just maybe reinstating Big Boys might be an idea, but cannot see it happening. Personally I think that Motor Bikes should have its own WIP and Under Glass sections instead of just being grouped into anything else. It might be more popular than having Big Boys back. -
It's one thing having someone who either hates of dislikes your hobby. You know where you stand with them and can react accordingly. Eventually ! Just surprises me though how many let themselves get drawn into a situation like that in the first place. Love is blind etc. ?? As for passive disinterest, that's a difficult one as you just don't know what is going on in their minds. Better that than outright animosity towards what you do I suppose. Ace' s last post pretty much is right on the button with regard to having someone who has their own sense of security, their own creative interests and not needing through their own insecurity to be a look at me prima donna!

This has developed into a very interesting thread.

Marry any woman who dislikes your hobby no matter what interest you have is signing up to a life of misery.

The Dykes book would probably be worth a facsimile nostalgia reprinting !

I live in England. The weather is a bit of a national obsession here. Normally first topic of any conversation. Mind you, that art seems to be dying out as most seem happier gazing into their phones instead.

Nice model build. Surprised to hear of the fit problems during your build. I think this kit was also marketed under the Revell banner too. Apart from the Airfix 1/32nd scale one, it is the only 1/24th scale plastic kit of the MGB that I can think of. C1 Models make a transkit to build a coupe version from this kit that really looks good. C1 make a Sebring MGC complete kit too that is very good having seen the one that Matt Bacon has built. South Eastern (ex Wills) Findcast has a 1/24th scale kit in white metal that looks nice built up. Back in the 80's there was a company named Marque One models who made built up white metal MGB models to customer order, but did not make the models available as kits. The venture I think was quite short lived.

Model making woman is a very rare species. The arts, crafts and sculpture side of hobbying appeals more to them to give vent to their creativity. Model making subjects generally to most women are boring. Cars and figures might be the occasional exception. But aircraft, AFV, warship and sci fi are a bit of a no no as far as most women are concerned. The freeform of art, crafts and sculpture creating something is more in their psyche than replicating accurately a full size subject in miniature and the research involved.

I think that, fair to say that the scalemotorcars site is gone. I used it in tandem with this site as there were many scratch builds in larger scales that were a feature of that site. There was a Swiss guy on there making a scratch built Lincoln Continenta! (I think) in 1/12th scale who replicated all the actual pressed panels on the car using tools he designed for the job. Fascinating build to follow. It would have been nice if a number of their contributors had migrated to this site.

Depends on where you got the Revell email address from ? Suggest you look at Revell's own website, either the USA site of their German site, whichever one you are trying to contact to check if the email address you are sending to is current and correct. Alternatively. Have you double checked your own email address sent to them to make sure that there are no typo errors in it that would cause a rejection ?I Cannot think of anything else it might be. HTH.

As Star Trek's Spock would say. 'Fascinating!'

Marvel's Hydra coupe 1/12 scale full scratch build
Bugatti Fan replied to François's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It's been quite a journey so far, and really interesting looking at the progress on this model. The subject is amazing to see coming together. Once the Hydra is finished, will you be going back to that knocked about built up Pocher Rolls that you bought some time ago? It will be interesting to see what you do to it. I guess a complete strip down, overhaul, perhaps conversion and super detailing job will be in order? -
I was looking out T35 model builds on a web search and it threw this one up. Had a good look at it when it was current on the forum but going through the posts cannot understand why at the time I failed to join the conversation (don't ask why) as I would have normally responded given the subject matter. So firstly my apology for my tardiness in not responding at the time. Having said that your T35 model is an excellent build of that classic racer. Not far off starting my kit bought well over a year ago so looking at various builds by experienced modeller like yourself. The panel fasteners make a good touch as the wires between them are quite a feature on the real car. I believe that Nick at Unobtainium is looking to do a detailing up set for this kit once he has got all his big Airfix Bentley upgrade stuff into production.

Sounds like a good contact adhesive. Will keep in mind as my current type is nearly exhausted. Heard that Gorilla Brand products good. Any recommendations about their other adhesives?

A Team van
Bugatti Fan replied to avidinha's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice model of this TV movie icon. The A team. Who could forget that series? Hannibal Smith, B A Barracus, Face and Mad Murdoch. They could never shoot anyone in a close quarter gunfight but could shoot out a tyre at 300 yards !
