  1. I just saw this one at the hobby store yesterday, but didn't buy it. It appears to be a reissue of an older pro-street kit, not a cartoonish car, with new decals in a '70's style like on the box top. The bee head shown on there is on the decal sheet along with some other options. I'm sure someone will post pics of the box contents and decal sheet.
  2. According to Casey mine is a reissue from some time in the '80's. That didn't make any difference to me as I just wanted one...at a reasonable price. Mine is molded in white and yes, the amount of details and working features engineered into the kit is really great. There is a lot of clean-up though...lots of flashing. That won't deter me from building it when the time comes.
  3. Ebay is going to be a waste of time for the seller. My opinion of course, but he should go through a major automobile auction house like Mecum, Barret Jackson, etc.... They can advertise the car and hopefully get some big players to bid on it at one of their events.
  4. They look great and welcome to the forum! Congrats on your awards too! Keep it up...you'll rival the veteran builders in no time.
  5. Being the JoHan fan that you are, you'd know better than I would about when it was made. I didn't look too deep into it...just wanted one for some time. Like I was telling you yesterday I couldn't pass on the price, and being "vintage-ish" I'll eventually built it. Thanks for the info.
  6. Nice looking tractor. Is that the AMT kit that came with the sleeper? Is there a "day cab" option included, or did you scratch build it? I'm asking because I was thinking about getting one to replicate the one I drove at my last job. It's also what I learned how to drive tractor/trailer in.
  7. I got both of these in separate auctions last week on ebay and delivered this week for pretty cheap. I happened to be the only bidder on one. Anyway, the JoHan Chrysler Turbine is a complete vintage(pretty sure) full detail kit. There is no date on the box or instructions, but due to the box condition and yellowing instructions it appears to be an older kit. The second is the Doyusha '71 GTO, not '64(typo), and is an open box, but has all the sealed bags inside. I know it's not the best kit...it's a motorized kit and the interior is a sad representation, but if I do build it I can just build it with "blacked-out" glass. The body is pretty decent. Maybe build it with the Revell '72 Cutlass kit's chassis and AMT '72 GTO interior tub for the full detail? Not totally accurate, but it's better than nothing and the way it is now.
  8. I have a couple of family owned hobby stores locally here. One of them sells more than just model kits. They have slot car, trains, model kits, arts and craft supplies, R/C, candy, rockets, kids scientific projects, pinewood derby, and quite an extensive magazine selection. They don't have internet sales, but if you want something that they don't have, they'll order it for you and have great customer service. Now, the other store also carries different things as well in the store, but has an online catalog service that really makes the money to keep their doors open. It also allows the in store prices to be $3-$5 cheaper than elsewhere. They are very friendly people and sometimes I spend as much time talking to the employees and owners as I did shopping. Plus, lucky for me, both stores are within 2-3 miles of where I live. Gonna miss that when my wife and I move farther away from the area. Then it will most likely be more internet buying and periodic trips into Milwaukee for bulk purchaces.
  9. They come in the kit like that. You can also get tire packs from AMT with 4 different sets of two tampo print styles on the side walls. There is a thread on here somewhere on the AMT tire packs too.
  10. I didn't get it yet. I'm meeting Casey and a guy from here on the forum, I forgot who, that will be here in town from N. Carolina at a LHS on Monday. We'll see then. It's from their online catalog...not off the store shelf. So, they'll have to find it in their stock room. It's less than $30.
  11. Looking good so far Harry. What color are you planning to paint yours? I followed Doc's build also and I need to build one too. I think I managed to find one locally, fingers crossed, for below average price that I've been seeing. We're talking about more than $10 cheaper than the cheapest ones I've seen on a lot of web sources for a new/unopened kit. We'll find out Monday.
  12. Welcome Tony.
  13. Just arrived in the mail this morning. $16 and change with free shipping off of ebay. Open box, but still bagged inside.
  14. It's "patina" .
  15. I collect Pontiac items (hood ornamants, scripts, signs, literature, pictures, pins....), 1/64th die-cast(Johnny Lightning, Hot Wheels...) Pontiac's or whatever is interesting, Coca-Cola stuff, buy/watch movies, going to car shows, & firearms/shooting. I also hunt (whitetail deer) and fish for fun...catch and release.
  16. What's wrong with it. I've been using it for some time now with little to no problems.
  17. Sorry to hear such bad news Brian. Glad you're all safe. Hopefully things will come together for you and your wife...sooner rather than later.
  18. Thanks Anne. Kind of a Pontiac fan...if it shows. And the 928 S4, sorry Porsche fans, it's the only Porsche that I like. Always loved those.
  19. A day late, but happy birthday Anne!
  20. Haven't posted anything in this thread for a bit, but here it is from the last month or more. The first bunch is from the swap meet yesterday where I met up with Casey. From Casey I got the Willys MB, Monte Carlo, Ferrari parts(in plastic bag), and various older car mags and Pontiac advertising. From the show I bought the Pegasus wheel/tire sets, brakes, whitewall tire/wheel sets, '71 Charger, and JoHan '75 Cutlass(already took it apart to paint and detail). From ebay I got both Fiero's, a few '80's Revell and Monogram Pontiac Grand Prix's(not pictured, 1 traded), Pocher Volvo F16 Engine, Corvette Indy Concept(not pictured/traded), and various license plates(not pictured). LHS buys- Porsche 928 S4, '66 GeeTO Tiger, and Nuclear Cannon(not pictured). From trades/other- '69 GTO Judge and Chrysler Atlantic(neither pictured) from Turbokitty, Parts Pack Pontiac 421 from Crazygirl, and the '48 Ford Woody that my wife found at a thrift store. Other stuff(not pictured)- the new Dr. Cranky book and stickers, 2 part epoxy, and a fine tooth saw.
  21. Sorry I didn't make it today guys. I know I said I would, but it totally slipped my mind...AGAIN.... being a Saturday show. Ended up doing some work at my moms house to help her out a bit. Hope it was a great show and showing of models.
  22. Now that is cool. Great detailing and weathering!
  23. Don't think there's any selling(officially) at/in the NNL Show. I misunderstood you....sorry. Try www.milwaukeeminiaturemotors.com. There is a tab on the top for the info you're looking for....hopefully.
  24. Go back to page 1 of this thread...post #6.
  25. Ours has seemed to stabilize since I think we have a new permanant carrier on our route again. The mail has been delivered consistantly between 8:45-9:30 for a couple of weeks now. Even had a package delivered yesterday and left at the back door instead of leaving it in the front to possibly have it stolen. Kudo's to that carrier.
