That car never looked better .
-
Yes he did get a convertible. The one in the photo above that his dad is looking at they did not buy. Ward ( the dad ) felt the car was not very good.

I have really been getting interested in wooden kits lately . Very different than plastic to be sure . I need to learn a lot but came across this kit and had to have it . Can I build it ? I don’t know but will have to get more experience before starting it. It’s a wooden Russian submarine from the early 1700 . Little more than a wooden cask for the most part . My research shows it was not very successful . Looks like a nice kit but again the instruction although better than the kit I am working on now there still is text I can not read .

Thanks Carl. Yes, I am enjoying it but there is so much I just don't know. I find it pretty challenging but that's ok. I bought a book that is of some help but I have received much better ideas and help from some of the members here. If I can finish this it will be a lot because of their help. The guys here are the best and very willing to share their knowledge.

Wally's first car never ran and then after he and his friends tore it apart and Wally finally parted it out and sold the remains to a junk yard.

Looks great to me !

Eddie should have been first .

Progress ? Did a little more work on this thing . Got some of the sails cut and mounted . Not very well I will admit . Doing the best I know how to do and hopefully learning somethings to make the next one better . As I said before the instructions are bad but I won’t lay my bad work totally on that . Planking is pretty soon but I don’t have a bender yet . I may try the soaking in hot water for a few minutes to see how that works so I can keep building . So far not a bad hobby although my results may ( will ) not be too good but that’s ok .

Great paint work !

Going to build that at some point. Need to finish some wood ship/boat kits first. I think that first photo is when they were going to an amusement park.

Free shipping if I remember right. Get one and get going on it and maybe you can teach me how to do the stuff ahead ! The masts, rigging and sails are going to be a big problem I believe. Oh, and the planking as well. Looks like I will need to buy a planking tool. The instructions are about the worst I have ever seen in my over 50 years of building models although never a wooden one before.

Thank or the info Michael. I am pretty sure I will not be able to get the sails they way they should be on this my first wooden kit. Thinking if I could somehow do the sails in the rolled up position. Jim, yes this kit was only 15 bucks and sold on the Walmart website. At only 15 dollars I figured it could be a first attempt trial kit. Said to be a 45 dollar kit. I don't see it being worth 45 but I don't know. Does anyone have a solution to keep the sail material from fraying once it is cut into shape ?
