What did you see on the road today?
PatW replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They are all Vauxhall's here in the UK, German Opel built with the steering Right-Hand-Drive. The Astra which is shown here and earlier has an invisible glass coating to stop glare and to a certain extent stop heat build-up, but as a small car have no air-conditioning! I personally don't know why they don't put a paper thin solar panel element on the inside, to help the battery and light use. And It's been announced will have to be all electric here in 20 years time anyway. As long as we build about five Nuclear Power plants to produce enough electricity to charge everything, houses, all the gadgets-phones-tablets-x boxes etc. -

Superb David, I built one last year but customised it! -
Think this has ever been offroad?

Ah your near to where our eldest was living (Lacombe) and has recently moved to Alberta. Anyway, the Police are very strict here on Headlight height's, Excess tyre width, window tint and noise. Although we have little or none of them here due to them being left had drive. Our biggest problem is that the island is small. Our normal (A) roads between towns are the width of two articulated trucks, our country roads (B) are the width of one articulated truck! We have dual carraigeways, that's two lanes each way on the outskirts of towns. Or motorways which are three lanes each way but are only between major cities. -
detail Pet peeve of mine!

It's a HOBBY and let's all chill out, and stop being so damned serious about something that we are supposed to enjoy. -
Model Cars Magazine Renewals
PatW replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the offer but my wife can't leave one out per month purely as she takes others who can't drive and rural bus services have been cut, plus if the numbers drop where the AVDC pay for a tutor the sessions for everyone will be scrapped. You know how it is, any excuse for cutting services, by councils is very swift, and no amount of complaining and petitions will change the councils minds and attitude towards 'outside' services, it's criminal how cuts affect the public who vote and their voice is ignored! It's called democracy which off course it isn't! When they scrap services a number of council staff need to be cut as well. Why do we pay council tax when all we get is one street light in the street and only our rubbish collected. Sorry for the rant but Cranfield is just too far away. -

I have a sub with Scale Auto and have done so for 10-15 years, and they are very punctual every two months. WH Smith also sell them in the larger stores but as I'm retired and don't now work in MK I don't see the copies on the shelf alongside all of the other model mags. I was asked to if I wanted to contribute to the Airfix magazine, but as I built only bikes and cars they weren't particularly interested as most of the content is military vehicles and planes. Yes Noel, there is a very active MK Model Club, but it's 20 miles away and my wife swims/gyms/auqafit every tuesday and wednesday, taking some friends who don't drive with her, so I have no way of getting there, as it would mean 3 buses taking 1-1/2 to 2 hours each way! They have contacted me at times about joining the club and have told me that there are members who either live nearby or come through Buckingham but no one has volunteered to pick me up! -

I think it looks great but illegal here in the UK, shame! No tyres to go beyond the bodywork. -

Although I see above that Noel seems to have had copies, I've never seen an issue in the shops or otherwise so difficult to decide whether to get a sub or what! -
WOW, superb finish I like where the rear door is missing or is it? Yes and as mentioned by others, there must have been some huge whole in the side to weld in a new panel! OR how did you find enough good metal to weld that patch in?
-
WOWEEE! Mr Mike what a fabulous finish! Well Done!
-
Wow! Really clever outcome! A low flying Bug! Fly boy or as our fish and chip shop says 'Flying Tonight'!
-
Nice one! Looks very good well done! I did one last year nice kit.
-
Really good, fine build. Super colours throughout.
-
Dann, super info and super build so far, keep up the very good work.
-
Very nice! We see the Heller kit here more and I've built one of those. Yes the first 2CV's seen in the UK were mainly corrugated metal as were the vans.
-
It all looks great, including the woodgrain. Well done.

The T Bucket shell came from............ As a VW Aircooled fan since the '60's, over the years I've seen this type of body used with VW running gear and engine. My only problem with building this is that I have no spare aircooled engine or headlights! The wooden box at the back would have the engine in and the normal engine area at the front holds the fuel tank, that's why the fuel filler is there!

Yes Guy. All instructions come with the decal paper packs.

Just a heads up on the roof decal. I found various images on a Google search and downloaded to Word, sized it in the Word document and printed it on both clear and white backed decal paper from the Crafty Computer Company.
