  1. Another of my auction wins from ebayUK. This again was an 'already started', this time the chassis/interior was complete, bar the front suspension (good as I lowered the front end), and not painted. So painting the seat and adding seatbelts and painting the rollcage and various engine parts was interesting! The other problem was that the original owner had stuck on both the bonnet and bootlid, so enamel thinners to the fore to dissolve the glue around the bonnet, which ended up using a craft knife to seperate one from the other, not totally satisfactory. I think I've seen somewhere on 'How Two's' putting bodyshells in the freezer to seperate glued parts. I'll try that next time! Again the decals were 'dodgy' so I added two coats of clear laquer, for safety. Laying up the long side decals was also interesting, around the rear side window, over the rear wheelarch and along to the front wheelarch, using plenty of water to slide it along. Lessons learnt: please recognise the two seperate silver coated Halfords Spray cans of automotive Grey Undercoat and automotive Clear Laquer, why? I heated and sprayed the Grey Undercoat along the drivers side ontop of the decals, then realised as I did it. Put a few drops of Humbrol Acrylic Thinners on a kitchen towel and wiped the grey paint straight off! It's a good job I'd already sprayed the decals with clear laquer when preparing them on the sheet! I then wiped the Acrylic Thinners off with water, dried the shell, warmed the Clear Gloss Laquer and carried on, I must slow down and realise which spray can I'm about to use, and it's consequences!
  2. From ebay UK a few days ago.............. It won't be built quite like that. A Surf Woody with those tyres? Nah! Now this came part built as described, that's the whole floor, seat, rollcage (interesting to paint and set seat belt decals) etc, but not the front suspension, goody! I was soooooooooooo disappointed with my last build, a Nascar Phantom Craftsman Truck because it was too high at the front. so I will lower the front of this onto the deck! I also bought some JDM decals for Liberty Walk or Tuner builds.
  3. As a british person who recently tested a 911 GT3, it's Porsh or Porsha! A Porch is extension of your house outside the front door
  4. Thanks Bruce, the Potenza decals were the largest I have because the kit Goodyears were too damaged to get off the crusty decal sheet. And it's interesting to note that I have aftermarket tyre decals from 3 different sources and none include Goodyear, must a copyright thing!
  5. Thanks John for your comments. Yes the decals were a pain but I've learnt a bit more about decals. Got another Nascar in the post today from an ebayUK auction. It's an AMT ERTL 1/25 No.88 UPS Taurus, but it's whole chassis/interior is already built but not painted and they've stuck the hood and trunk on! I've turned the body on it's roof and given it a careful dose of enamel thinners to hopefully disolve the glue. I'm also looking at lowering the front suspension (the only thing that wasn't on the chassis).
  6. Built Box Stock but decals old and crusty, although I did prise a few off of the backing, by firstly giving the decal sheet 2 coats of gloss clear. Then soaking in near boiling water and getting a craft blade between the decal and paper and sliding the decal away! As the kit decals were in short order, I found others in my collection to add to the build. I found that the front sat up a bit, but after checking the instructions and mounting points it was put together right. If I can find another Nascar Truck Kit I'll have to see how I can lower the front, so it looks as they do on the tele!
  7. Thanks Dann & Chuck, yes the box says 1975!
  8. Beautiful build, great colour! I'm presently building a ghost one of the same kit but in Orange with a mix of British and US decals, the kit ones are about shot!
  9. Fantastic finish! I'm building one of the Goodwrench trucks but it's orange and has a mix of British & US decals. Those in the box are pretty bad.
  10. Thanks guys, yes she's a groovy machine!
  11. Thanks guys, yes a good looking car the 510.
  12. I built this box stock, but had to renovate the decals as the paper they were on had turned to card. I scanned these to the pc and re-printed them a few times adjusting the colour and brightness, although they are still not exactly right. The smaller decals were too difficult to bringback into focus. I also added two of a few new home-brewed decals I'm trying to perfect. In this case both are on the front wing, one has a painted hand and on the other a coloured paint run.
  13. And yet again another bargain from ebay.uk a.............Ford Fooler from 1975!! The instructions are a huge A4 sheet of paper with info on both sides! The funny bit is though (to me anyway) is that it says that for all chrome parts there is a letter 'C' after the sprue number. But there aren't any chrome parts, but to my joy the whole kit except black hard rubber tyres comes in the brightest yellow you ever did see, my favourite colour! The five decals, three number 3's and two short white stripes are completely shot! So I'll hunt through my decal stash to see if I have any I can use!
  14. 3 from ebay UK.................... Which I may do a 'woody' camper. Which I may turn into a shop truck as the front end is rather old.
  15. Thanks again Richard, for your info, I suppose it's a suck it and see job! Gradually heating the water and trying the screen at different temperatures and tweaking it as I go along.
  16. Thanks Harry. It's just as I thought. Since putting this on here I found a youtube video where the guy was straightening out a warped shell, with boiling water, so I thought I might try that. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for your input Richard. I have tried with thin clear plastic, having used the original as a template, but because the 'new' piece is 'springy' it's difficult to set it into the slotted groove below the edge of the window surround which is very narrow even to tape it down. As it is a Revell Germany kit, I have contacted them for a replacement only today and hope for an answer to my email soon.
  18. I'm building a car model that has the windows seperated in single units fitted from the outside of the bodyshell. The rear and sides fit perfectly, but the front screen is warped/distorted on the sprue and when offered up to the body touches along the top but is a distance away on the bottom right hand corner. I regularly make roll chages so know how to warm plastic rod/sprue to the right temperature to bend to shape and not to burn or melt through. But how do you straighten out, bend reasonably thick clear 'glass' plastic windscreens to fit the aperture in the shell please?
  19. Looks great, not a car we have here in the UK.
  20. Thanks Bruce, yes I bought the dio from Scale Productions.de in Germany.
  21. Built box stock, changed the drab grey interior to yellow and added a few decals here and there.
  22. Thanks Atin, yes I'd noticed just last week about the prices! I bought mine through ebay two/three years ago. I'd already scanned the decals, but didn't print off another set because these went on so well.
