  1. I bought this curbside kit about 12 months ago, so whilst waiting for paint to cure on another project, I started this on Thursday and finished it today. The decals are quite thick so getting them to conform to the surface has been difficult..............
  2. Well done Tomo. As an ex- Rac rally marshal they all look great.
  3. Super build Jim, we don't see these kits in the UK although we had quite a few on the road at one time!
  4. Yes one buggy I haven't yet made out of the Manx kit! It is very good as it is just plain and simple, it's all that you need of the basic VW bits to enjoy it, playing in the dunes. Thanks acf for sharing your brilliant build!

    Micra.

Well done tommo, it looks just right in rally trim. I've seen a few here in various condition, I think we had quite a few on the stages of the British Rally Championship. A very good rally starter car.
  6. Well done krishna, good paint finish and simple but effective decals, nice!
  7. Superb pics, It's good to see what's going on , on the model show scene over the pond.
  8. Well done Pete. I'd seen one for sale but your the brave one, amazing!
  9. Well done krishna, superb camo. I just did mine in metalic red!
  10. Super looking bodyshell, yes I might be looking for one ----or even two!
  11. Brilliant combo! Right subjects, right glossy colour and a mountain bike!
  12. Super build I was trying to find one here in the UK to add to my aircooled car collection.
  13. Superb work so far. The artists impression looks like the Japanese sports car series.
  14. Yes the battery was in the boot and we had twin fuel tanks, one each side of the boot on the circuit racers and on the rally versions. My elder brother bought a new mini van in 1963, it just had a strong thin sheet of hardboard over the spare wheel painted the same colour as the body.
  15. Here's just one pic of a resin plaster sidepod, I hope to start casting in resin soon, Manx bodies 2 and 4 seaters, the 2 seater first then cut it and add a centre section and cast that. Yes the plumbing of the turbo set up took a few weeks. Bending the plastic rod by candle, using 90degree corners from sprue mouldings and slotting the alloy tube over the top. I'd seen the engine, or something like it on the back of Volksworld magazine here in the UK, so I thought I'd have a go!
  16. Hey I've just come across this thread and yes I would certainly like to see and hopefully buy a few sets of parts. I have built a turbo Type 1 into an AMT Manx using various scratchbuilt bits of my own in both plastic and alloy. I'm also looking at initially resin casting Manx bodies both in two and four seater versions. I already test casted seats, surfboards and buggy sidepods but in resin plaster just to get the experience of casting, but the engines here are very intertesting. My one problem is that I am in the UK and shipping costs are the one thing that nearly kills all thoughts of buying from the US, as sometimes we get caught for customs & excise(import) duty. So we buy an item plus $27 shipping and £12 duty , then we pay nearly 3 times the value of the purchase!
  17. Meyers Manx 4X4...
  18. Did anyone take any photo's please?
  19. Thanks for the pics showbuilder. It's good to see what's going on in the USA model show scene from here in the UK.
  20. Thanks Felix.
  21. Thanks Jonathan, yes a fare share of grime and a tyre rub when another racer got just a bit too close!
  22. Thanks Glenn.
  23. Thanks Dominik, well I have been to Le Mans a couple of times so I know how the cars look at the end of the race!
  24. Thanks guys, yes there were a few of these racing at Silverstone circuit about 5 miles from here over the weekend. But I'm glad to say the weather was very good, the best meeting there this year, it overtakes F1 in spades (quality in this case) and very nice old money owners that have had and raced the same car since new. And that goes for nearly every other car there starting with cars from 1920's or even earlier!
  25. Thanks Jeremy. I'm normally very fussy about the paintwork, but the side panels were so poor fitting that I had no choice but to paint it in post race trim to hide the joins.
