  1. Wow, fantastic build and weathered finish. It takes me back to the day when I was race/airfield marshalling at the Silverstone circuit in the UK, seeing these and other model Porsches flying through the corners with the flame emitting from the exhaust on overrun! Well done and thanks for sharing.
  2. Very nice work! Where did you get the resin shell from please?
  3. Wow Fantastic Loti, something I've been watching here in the UK at the Silverstone circuit for the past 45 years at club and classic events as a race and airfield marshall. Great work and thanks for sharing!
  4. Well that's different, nice and different!
  5. Hi Manny, I hope things improve for you next year. We have a problem here in the UK with Gas and Electricity prices. The 'energy' giants are increasing prices by 10% but we don't get anymore that 1% in wage rises if we get any at all and for me on a pension it's really tight so when I buy a kit or resin like this Airstream I have to make the most of it! Merry Christmas Manny and have a happier new year in 2014.
  6. Hey Jim. I like the side pods and your bomber seats, I fitted yours to my recent Manx build. Yours looks great Jim. I've just been reading an article in Volksworld Magazine here in the UK, showing both a short wheelbase and standard one. Keep up the good work with your superb resin supplies. I think if I had a real one down on the beach I would drill a fews holes in the floorpan and just use a hose to wash out all the sand and rubbish!

    Meyers Manx 4

Yes thanks Tony, they are a real pain! A liitle bit of hot water and a couple of clamps and tweezers to get it right. Although on a previous one I had to join the exhaust up with a turbocharger set up that I added in. I'll have even more trouble with the next exhaust as I've just won another beach buggy on out UK ebay. It's an earlier Airfix 1/32 scale one, now that should be an interesting build! Now have I got any small sprue or solder I wonder? So this is the next project and the first of 2014..........
  8. Hi CrazyJim, TooOld resin cast some and sent me a pair.

Hi Alan, a family member of sorts! TooOld the other Manx builder made them himself by resin casting.

Thanks guys, the exhaust comes with the kit but it's nice to try a different wheel design.
  11. I've just done the last few bits, Painted the tyre carrier, and made the power cable to the tow vehicle.................. And in the Ikea cabinet.. If your are a super detailer (as I am not) this would be the casting to try. Imagine opening up and hinging the door, cutting out the wondows and adding clear plastic, fitting a floor and complete interior and adding the exterior awning! Now wouldn't that be just great.

    Meyers Manx 4

Well thank you all! I'm pleased your pleased! Yes Tom as an owner of 3 beetles ( & building a beetle from scratch as my youngest sons first car, Cal Look Black Paint, lowered with centreline rims) over the years my choice would be the Manx straight away as my plaything! The paint is Plasti-Kote rattle can metalic red with Hobbycraft chrome sprinkles(for spraying on greetings cards) and two coats Plasti-Kote clear gloss on top. It's rough to the touch! Chris, I'll be out in Hartney Manitoba at my eldest son's place for new year, I understand it's cold already! We stayed in Toronto last time we came out and our son came to see us.

My fourth attempt to build this iconic kit..... and a few more >>>>>>>
  15. Well here are the last pics in this build................... Well that's the fourth of these done, so I must get on and finish my big resin Flying Cloud Airstream van.
  16. Yes they normally have a large rubber seals round the tailights (difficult to get scale correct) , as I remember from building and running a few beetles from the late '60's onwards. Plus we built a Cal Look beetle for my youngest son around the early '90's. I've done abit more today, fixing the seats, bonnet, dash and steering............ And tomorrow is the screen, possibly the wipers and headlights.
  17. Thanks guys, I'll try and do some more tomorrow.
  18. Thanks PappyD340, yes the one above would be good to build! I've just done a bit more..... Four rear lights two for brakes and two for turn signals............ And a PE gas cap..........
  19. Thanks guys, having already built three of these it's just thinking of how to build the next one, engine, chassis, suspension etc. I have a picture of a possible 5th build..... This uses a race type spaceframe chassis, but lets finish this one first. I'll try and do some more work on this one early next week.
  20. This is my 4th build of this kit.... Front Discs Rear Discs Engine in with custom muffler.... The only problem buying a Manx is when there are four in the family. A quick mock-up...... Hopefully do some more next week.
  21. Having an F1 track on the doorstep I see a lot of different team cars. So this build is very similar in fact so similar it could be a real one. Well done for a great build.
  22. Good idea realgone58! I've done a couple of other things................ The front handle to wind the leg up and down and the spare wheel and carrier. I don't know whether they have one but as the spare wheel came with the body I thought I'd make an open tray from plastic card and mount it underneath at the back.

    Wild Manx !

Yes Bob it looks fantastic. I've had a big paint issue with my metalic red so I've taken it all off to repaint completely.
  24. I can't remember if i've already put this on here but here we are, I only looked in the spares box for the wheels and tyres.and the door handles......
  25. Thanks guys, now I've just got to finish the tow hitch, power cable, lights and number plate.
