  1. Thanks Trevor. No problems as such, look at plenty of pictures just remember to measure carefully before cutting anything (measure at least twice and cut once), body sides before and after rear wheel arch, chassis, transmission, exhaust etc. On this or another site there is a shortening of the side window version (Revell was it?) To me the difficult bit was the roof as you can see on mine!
  2. Seen on a recent visit to Waterton Lake/Park Nr Banff, we were visiting our eldest son and daughter in law,
  3. What scale is this please?
  4. Superb! Something I've been looking for, for some years.
  5. Very nice! Tom Walkinshaw had his race team about 20 miles from here, in nearby Oxford!
  6. Thought to have rallied a few times in the USA. Modified Tamiya decals used although some weren't intact, most of the orange number fives collapse, needing me to find others to take their place. The windscreen decal was too short to fit.
  7. Possibly the last buy this year as my annual budget is now spent!
  8. So far today, laying up Subaru WRX decals onto a Subaru Sti bodyshell. A little modifying of the decals as the Sti is a slightly shorter wheelbase.
  9. Bagged this from ebay UK today, already started so 1/2 price!
  10. Thanks Trevor. I took a slice from behind the doors and at the end of the chassis after the spring hangers. The only thing to remember is to measure and measure keeping all saw cuts at right angles. I had built it once after taking the first slice behind the doors and then realising it wasn't short enough, so cut through the body and chassis together upside down, keeping completely straight at right angles to the body. It's the first time doing this! I've seen so many top-chops on custom cars but far too scared to do it! But feel after this one I might, just might try one! Oh, ak have just bought out (just this week) a kit of an SWB Lanny but it's £35 here in the UK!
  11. Well i tried! I bought a 1/35 Land Rover LWB and wanted to modify it to an SWB version, Now realising I should cut most off 'behind' the rear wheels! I cut a lot off in front of the rear wheels but none behind them! Update 21/06. Checked the rear spring hangers and cut off everything after them, now shortening the body to an SWB!
  12. Thanks Bruce, you get the impression that I like a decal or two, or more in fact!
  13. From my youngest son, for Father's Day here in the UK. Another classic rally car I shall enjoy building!
  14. Thanks guys, yes I like a decal or two!
  15. I'm hoping to shorten it to an SWB to depict one of our eldest sons first cars, a lightweight SWB used by paratroopers. Update 17.06.23 ak have come out with an SWB Lanny today, Blast!
  16. Having already built one of these with the kit decals I chose a after market set by Renaissance purchased through Grand Prix Models here in the UK. It depicts the 911 driven by Patrick Snijers in the 24 Hours of Ypres in the same year 1984. And with it's brother car on the shelf..
  17. Update: 14.06.23. Most decals now on, tomorrow will give body a few coats of clear gloss. Front nose Bastos now in red.. Other side now decaled. Ready for gloss clear. and continue build.
