  1. Thanks guys, yes I like a decal or two!
  2. I'm hoping to shorten it to an SWB to depict one of our eldest sons first cars, a lightweight SWB used by paratroopers. Update 17.06.23 ak have come out with an SWB Lanny today, Blast!
  3. Having already built one of these with the kit decals I chose a after market set by Renaissance purchased through Grand Prix Models here in the UK. It depicts the 911 driven by Patrick Snijers in the 24 Hours of Ypres in the same year 1984. And with it's brother car on the shelf..
  4. Update: 14.06.23. Most decals now on, tomorrow will give body a few coats of clear gloss. Front nose Bastos now in red.. Other side now decaled. Ready for gloss clear. and continue build.
  5. Another build where using a new model of the 911, the NuNu version and adding early 911 rally decals, in this case from 1984 and the 24 hours of Ypres! As the shape of the 911 has evolved careful lay-up of the decals is needed. Some work to be done on the front wheel arch before finishing the build due to the decal being longer and having to be trimmed when wet. Update: Note the Bastos decal on the white bar across the bonnet? That should be on the other door! I used my largest paint brush loaded with water and peeled it off and re-laid it in it's right place. The layout plans on the after market decals show all with a white background although some of the decals like the Bastos roof ones are red as you can see. The third red one should be across the bonnet so later laid that one in the correct place. More pics to come although out and about in Oxford tomorrow!
  6. Thanks David, I like a decal or two!
  7. Superb! I remember these being raced in the day by Tom Walkinshaw here in the UK.
  8. Cheers Carl, yes another idea completed.
  9. Thanks so much guys, I love a decal or two and to me building my favourite kit and adding an extra dimension suits me!
  10. This kit depicts the 2005 model but as I've built numerous versions in the factory colours of blue with factory decals, I've built this with 1999 RAC Rally Team Cup decals of L Climent & A Romani of Spain. The kit came 'already started' with a few parts built and painted plus the body in light grey undercoat that needed a rub down. I did so and added further grey undercoats and three topcoats of gloss white.
  11. This was delivered whilst we were in Calgary over the weekend. Yes another Scooby but the hatchback version Sti. I wonder how it will look with factory WRC decals on it?
  12. A kit.. That might turn into a race truck/pickup. And.. Decals for a NuNu 911 And a Subaru Impreza..
  13. I have yet another Tamiya Subaru WRX kit, bought as already started, the blue body in grey undercoat, so I've built so many blue ones, I gave it a wash and another grey undercoat and three coats of gloss white! The new decals landed today, they are for a 1999 Scooby and mine is a 2005! So a slight adjustment to the decals, but most of them are on..
  14. Ah The Alfa of Bruno! Superb build! As a trackside/spectator and airfield marshall at the Silverstone Race Circuit just 5 miles I remember both the car and driver in the day!Superb racing in those days!
  15. Thanks Jeremy. Well it was just out of the blue, some masking tape and two spray cans. Two other cars I've tried the same idea, but just using black and grey, the black being decal, Just the bonnet/hood on this one..
  16. Cheers guys, It's amazing what you can do with some paint and masking tape!
  17. Update,24.05.23, Nearly done, a few decals to add and an aerial, oh and look in spares for a w'screen wiper. Awfull kit, lots of flash and bad fitting parts, the two piece tyres were the worst, I couldn't find anything to stick them together, but when I did as soon as I tried to fit the on the wheels they split in half, horrible!
