  1. I've only bought one lot of open, unbuilt kits. I got a good deal because the seller didn't mention what they were, noone searching for them would find them. One kit was half off the trees, but all wre complete. I got a newer 1/24 Monogram 39 ford 5 window, Revell Tuners Datsun 510, AMT reissue Berrien T buggy, and a Monogram Nascar McDougals T-bird that I traded for a Revell Ritchie Ginther Porsche 914-6, missing the window. Lucky? Maybe. On another note, anyone dumb enough to ship a model car in a padded envelope needs to be taken out back and beaten.
  2. Nice job. I see 3 pintos on a regular basis. One of them is an orange runabout like this, very clean looking, and she has the Yosemite Sam mudflaps with "Back Off!" at the bottom .
  3. That was a safety feature that never caught on. Looks like you did an exceptional job with a poor kit. The back end looks too flat (rear window, vents & decklid)
  4. Maybe notching a strip of styrene, then sticking it to the backside of smooth painters or scotch tape, then snapping it like a candy bar to break the segments and give it flexibility. It works in my head.
  5. Nice. I've got a bunch of miniatures, but I havn't painted any in about 15 years. Is that a Jif Crunchy Peanut Butter jar?
  6. Summer's finally over, hopefully I can get back on track without sweating on my models while I paint in the dungeon.
  7. Great paint & finish. One of my favorite childhood shows.
  8. Looks good, but the decals for Inch Pincher Too! are out of place. Inch Pincher, and Inch Pincher Too were famous drag Bugs back in the day. Like altereds, and the Fiats & Anglias, they would beat the bigger (and much heavier) cars until they seperated them into different classes.
  9. Saw the English Beat back in June, they put on a great show. A couple of friends took me for my Birthday. I attribute not going out to shows to me being fat and out of shape now. When I was young, we used to go out at least every other weekend to either a gig, or a club.
  10. I drove a 2005 Cavalier as a rental, I hated it, too.
  11. That truck is fabulous, John. I like how it looks like an ex-custom car that got converted, and still has it's pre-apocolypse paintjob. The racks remind me of the cargo bins on tanks.
  12. I used a Masito die-cast, its the wrong year for my car, but there are no late model squarebacks available, die cast, or plastic.
  13. I already said it in another thread, but this is great. Love the period correct colors and carpet.
  14. Clean build! I've seen the Tamiya box, but never the model. Love it. Oh, and seconding what Dave said.
  15. Excellent. I built this as a kid, and I remember the ill-fitting roof, and the stock exhaust molded into the chassis.
  16. The Transit Connect is also built in Turkey,( I think). It is based on the Focus platform. They import them as passenger vehicles, complete with windows, carpets and seats, then rip out the stuff and convert the majority of them to commercial vehicles. Due to the "chicken tax", which is 25%, all imported commmercial vehicles are marked up accordingly. This is why we got Subaru Brats with back seats, and Datsun pickups with mismatched step side beds (they were imported with cabs only). These measures allowed them to dodge the applicable tax.
  17. Very nice. But why does the starter look like a Fram oil filter?
  18. I've got one of these, and I really didn't like the body. I tried to mod into a more traditional buggy, but was unsuccesful. The kit is made by Revell (lots o' flash) and does include the Corvair engine, as well as VW. Old picture, It's currently busted and awaiting repair.
  19. Looks fabulous! I still need to get me one of these.
  20. The model and paint look excellent. [constructive criticism]But with the stickers from the Polar lights model, you could've had better luck with making your own. Also your stripes are a little off, The red is too narrow, and the blue is too wide. Also the stripe shouldn't have gone over the license plate light. [/constructive criticism]
  21. Good luck. Those Revell Beetles have massive cast lines, and lots of flash.
  22. The Kmart near me had some, too. Nothing memorable, a few snap kits.
  23. Do you realize how much Generation 1 Transformer parts are worth? Seriously, great job, though.
  24. I hope this helps. medical bills are a real kick in the pants. I've always felt you've done some of the best, and most accurate VW models Iv'e seen. Good luck!
