New Drag parts...New Blower Hat, 12/11/12
Bonekrosha replied to 1320wayne's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The Renshape place offers a sample kit of their stuff for $25. I was amazed at how much stuff you get for that $25. I've used it so far to make some intakes and throttle bodys, stuff like that. The sample kit will last a decent while for the average modeller. -

I like the idea of the Daytona Bee sticker, looks cool. -
Wow, simply wow. Almost makes me want to give up on my stuff when I see how outclassed I am. BEAUTIFUL BUILD! I hope you paint that Cuda Purple (In-Violet) HA HA HA HA

Thanks!

Johan Superbird & Revell Charger Daytona
Bonekrosha replied to Platerpants's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I like the Air Grabber on the Superbird, I always thought they should have had that as a factory option -
Oh yeah, I forgot. It also has an aftermarket resin Torque Flight.

Thanks for looking. Yeah, mine really hates Pink, anything pink. I like those Kharman Ghias. Put a big block in it for her

Will be all black except for some purple interior and engine stuff, and no chrome anywhere on the car except for the valve covers, I couldn't resist. Before the hate purple comments start, Purple is my favorite color so love it or hate it Will have big and bigger steelies with some aftermarket spun aluminum Moon-type disks (the wheels on the mock-up photo are actually going on the Po-Leece car project) , shaved door handles/drip rails/ emblems/window trim, scratchbuilt and blended in rear valence, Blown aftermarket Hemi, (the one sitting in the car is just a mock-up, the engine going in is the purple one, I still have a bunch of work to do on it, LOTS of parts in the aftermarket kit!), scratchbuilt plumbing for injector hat, aluminum aftermarket magneto, tubbed rear end, scratchbuilt cage, scratchbuilt dash and instrument panel with aftermarket gauge faces, simulated switches and shift light, scratchbuilt center console, scratchbuilt interior panels, aftermarket nitrous bottles, etc. Obviously it is a Daytona conversion with aftermarket nose and wing. I blended the nose onto the body and will add mesh for the center intake passage. I did not choose to modify the rear window to make it a more correct Daytona. These cars are my first try at bodywork so I'm testing myself as it is. I shortened the stock hood, opened it for the blower, and shaved down the center "crown". I always thought it looked out of place on the 1:1 Daytonas, the Superbird hood is much cleaner in my opinion so I did it to this one. I will list the sources for the aftermarket stuff when I finish the car. I welcome comments and criticisms.

The back story on this was my daughter bought me a DOH Charger for my birthday. She HATES pink so as a joke, I told here I was going to build her a Pink car soooo: Blown aftermarket hemi, scratchbuilt plumbing for the blower hat, aftermarket MSD magneto, shaved emblems/door handles/drip rails, front valence and grill blended into body, rear valence scratchbuilt and blended into body along wth rear bumper, will have bigger radiator, aluminum aftermarket Weld big & little (not decided on tires yet), some custom decals/lettering, etc. I will list sources for the aftermarket stuff once I finsh the car. I welcome comments and criticisms.

Running along with my DOH version, I decided Roscoe need patrol car a little faster than the beloved Furys and Monacos. I blended in the front valence, scratchbuilt the rear and blended it in, scratchbuilt roll bar started, Ferrari Testa Rosa Dash (just to do something different), smoothed firewall, radiator made bigger (two kit ones glued together and modified to look a bit more realistic than the paper thin kit one. It'll have steelies with some kind of dog-dish hub caps, black hood & trunk (again, I used to be a cop so I'm just doing a different paint scheme from plain white or the old black & white), blower cutout in hood will be filled in, Hazzard County Sheriff decals, a load of Po-leece lights (I'm considering going a bit overboard with the lighting; functional l.e.d.s all over the place, l.e.d. lightbar, etc), all kinds of interior Po-Leece stuff; RADAR, dash-cam, radios, etc. roll bar (Roscoe won't be transporting anybody. This has actually spawned an idea for a Hazzard County Paddy Wagon of some type). Now for the engine: Kit Hemi converted to a 440 with resin heads & valve covers, scratchbuilt EFI Intake Manifold w/lines and injectors, twin turbos with scratchbuilt headers/piping, oil lines to the turbos, aluminum aftermarket magneto with scratchbuilt offset base to clear intake tubing. Obviously still in the works, and I'll list all my sources for aftermarket stuff when I finish the car. I welcome comments and criticisms

Here is my WIP for the General Grant version of the DOH Charger. As I've said before, I make my models for me so I add/modify as I please. I do however welcome any comments or criticisms. I converted the NASCAR bathtub intake into a cross-ram, used the carbs from the Street Charger, air cleaners from a 1/16 Monster Truck, scratchbuilt radiator shroud, shaved door handles, drip rails, side markers, scratchbuilt & blended in rear valence, blended in front valence, hood scoop made from an extra DOH gas tank, scratchbuilt roll cage, plumbed elec fuel pump, scratchbuilt front sway bar, etc. Custom Decals are going on soon, a 35 star American Flag, revised lettering/numeral outline (gold instead of white). I will list all the sources for aftermarket stuff when I finish the car.

Thanks for the kudos Jason & Ace.

Awesome car, awesome build. That 60's lace paintwork is so cool. I miss my 69 sooooo bad when I see them.

I accidentally deleted my post on this in Under Glass and I was still hoping to get some tips, criticisms, likes, dislikes suggestions. The car isn't completely finished so I put it in the wrong place to begin with, I still need to install a CB antenna, door side mirror, fender top fuel cap, maybe try to BMF the windshield trim, etc. I hate orange so I painted the car grey, I feel it's more in keeping with Lee's name. I shaved all the emblems, door handles, marker lights, and sill moldings. I built a full cage that actually fits the car, made exhaust pipes with cross over tube and muffs from aluminum tubing, and built a new rear valence and molded it into the body. As far as the hood scoop, some people hate them some like 'em and I like 'em so it's got one. I will post some pics of some other projects I am working on in this scale soon since I finallhy figured out how to post photos; a General Grant car in blue - sort of a Yankee Dukes car , a Hazard County Sheriff "Pursuit" unit with a fuel injected twin turbo 440 and 727 tranny, a couple other Generals cars, etc. I am not a purist, I build stuff my way and for my amusement. I welcome any comments pro or con and any tips anyone may have out there.

Phantom 70 Challenger T/A Wagon..FINISHED
Bonekrosha replied to Space Cowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I was actually going to do the same thing, well, not exactly, but I was going to make one of my 1/16 Street Chargers into a Paddy Wagon. Seeing this, I may go a ahead with it! Decisions, decisions. I think your car looks pretty so far, nice to see something different. -
Nah, make it a beater/sleeper
-
Impressive. Could you post a e-mail address or website for him, I got some stuff I'd like to get shineyed up.

Got box sets of a few seasons no too long ago, fun stuff. I wish I'd never sold my 1:1 440 ex-CHP Monaco (among other 1:1 cars I've owned)

Romell, He doesn't have awebsite but here is his e-mail: mjaafd1@msn.com Tedsmodelingmarketplace.com has some pics. Mark offer a ton of options. He sent me numerous pics of different options and I basically "built" the engine as I wanted it. The detail is awesome, a high parts count, almost zero cleanup. You definately wouldn't be disappointed even given your talent (I'm quite jealous). He has a 1/16th Big Block Chevy in the works too....

As usual, I can't get pics to upload but I just got my Mark Johnson 1/16th hemi in the mail yesterday for my Daytona-esque Dukes Charger build. Let me tell you guys, the quality is outstanding! I basically have to do zero prep work to build it, super clean, excellent detail, even has dowel pins to assist in secure placement of heads, oil pan, valve covers, etc. A bunch of seperate parts, super looking stuff. I e-mailed him about the engine and he sent me a bunch of pics of types of engines with a ton of options to choose for my personal taste/requirements. Fantastic guy, he has what I would call a short backlog (like 2 weeks) and he let me know that up front. He e-mailed me when he was finished with the parts and let me know I could send him the payment. He shipped it on 28 Sept, a Friday, I got it the following Monday, Oct 1st, exactly as I wanted it. If anybody is thinking of getting one of his engines over another manufacturer I'd say he'd be a wise choice, well worth the money. I think you get much, much more than in detail, ease of build, nearly zero clean-up, simply high quality workmanship and excellent customer service. I'd also like to offer the suggestion for anyone looking for some really good 1/16th stuff and some more awesome customer service; you can't go wrong with Protech and Ted's Modeling Marketplace. Fantastic bunch, both of them. Extremely personable, fast replies to e-mails, some really nice product. Both have fast shipping, their products are as described, and the costs are reasonable. I had an issue with another manufacturer's 1/16th motor I got from Ted. It wasn't his fault but he really bent over backwards to help me out with returning the engine and getting a replacement asap. Ted's site has the e-mail for Mark Johnson and some good pics of what is available. Thank you to all three of these guys for your help & great products. I am definately going to be a repeat customer for them and I suggest everybody give them a look. Now if I can ever get my pics to upload....
