Brother, can you spare a dime?

No, but it burps and farts methane.

Murphy has some kinda law I've heard referred to, usually when things like wings falling off of airplanes happen.

Veal offends some people's sensibilities because it's baby cow, but to a true carnivore, it's just mighty tasty and tender meat.

Sorry if this sounds out-of-character sappy for me (no, I'm not) but as difficult and annoying as the past several days have been for a wide variety of reasons, I find it helps to stop and take a conscious break to be thankful for all the little things we take for granted every day. The glass actually IS sometimes only half full, but half a glass is way better than nothing in the glass at all...and even the glass itself is really pretty cool.

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
Ace-Garageguy replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Consolidating part numbers for just that reason is common practice across the industry...which kinda begs the question: when so many applications were so similar, why didn't vehicle designers just design around off-the-shelf parts instead of reinventing the wheel so many times? The downside of consolidating part numbers is that occasionally a part that worked in an "off-label" application no longer works with the replacement design. I'm working on that issue right now, as the aftermarket fuel pump conversion for DeLoreans used a specific Delphi part number, and the "replacement" is just enough different to lo longer fit. Buying "NOS" isn't reliable, as there are cheap Chinese knockoffs in counterfeit Delphi or Delco packages that fail for one reason or another very quickly, and there's usually zero warranty support for NOS, whether it's legit or not. -

What non-auto model did you get today?
Ace-Garageguy replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Nice lot of vintage HO scale railroad kits and stuff. Some of the "stuff" I really didn't want, but dividing the total price by the number of items I did want, I ended up paying about $5.50 per. And I can use the rest of it somewhere, anyway. For instance: that old brass sectional track isn't really what you want for consistent running, but it's OK for infrequently used sidings and display yards, and if you keep it clean and provide sufficient electrical feeders, it works just fine anyway. It was, after all, all we had until nickel-silver rail and flex-track hit the market. And: I've taken in so many of those cheap Chinese non-running "2 Classic Streetcars" sets in other lots that I can justify an interesting small industry that specializes in rebuilding and restoring trolleys and cable cars. -
Courses in map-reading, making change from a dollar, cursive writing, and telling time on round clocks might be good to bring back, because tech breaks, and the more complex any system is, the more likely it will fail at some point.

Yeah baby, I like where this is going. Really like your inspiration builds too, specially the Beantown Bandit. As Mr. Snake wooda said, model on. -
Cool project...but it needs a blown LS, doncha think? Just kidding. The bumpers look really good too, especially with something from Rustoleum on them.

Sentence a particular kind of criminal with an all-expense-paid trip through a wood chipper, but only if the evidence of guilt is absolutely overwhelming and incontrovertible.

I had to laugh when UPS wanted to charge me extra to drop a shipment at one of their stores after the online tracker repeatedly said my address didn't exist...and the silence that followed the rest of the phone conversation when I told the nice lady in India that UPS had repeatedly delivered to the "nonexistent" address over the last 10 years, which she was able to verify from her terminal You couldn't make this stuff up. "Smart systems" and AI are really pretty useless when it comes to thinking at all out of the box, just like most humans.

Traffic jams are aggravated by the fools who leave two car lengths between their vehicle and the one in front of 'em.

Reality is anathema to a large segment of the population....and those who insist on it are called mean, prideful, and every kind of -ist in the book. -
"Warp" is a problem facing buyers of old models, particularly acetate promos, that is difficult if not impossible to fix. (not my image, though copied from MCM)
