  1. Simple solution: just don't ever change the sheets.
  2. Though I personally agree, it's reality that many people do NOT hold this philosophical approach to what they do. But it's OK to simply enjoy putting models together with a minimum of effort and "stress" in the pursuit of "fun". It's not the way I approach life because I wasn't wired that way, but nobody engaged in a hobby has to live by my rules.
  3. Agreed completely, and as with many things, it simply comes down to what an individual wants to achieve in terms of quality craftsmanship.
  4. Do unto me intentionally, and I'll most definitely not turn the other cheek.
  5. For me it's all about subject matter. If the only kit I can get of a particular subject is a badly-scaled and misshapen no-name resin mess, I'll go with that IF it looks like it will be less work to correct it than it would be to start with a block of wood. BUT...there's not really all that much overlap of subjects from different manufacturers, so again, as I'm not building models just to pass the time with minimal frustration, kit manufacturer is the least of my concerns. Probably the most overlap occurs with Model A fords, with vintage kits available from AMT, MPC, Revell, and Monogram, recent new-tools from Revell, and now new ones from ICM. To a discerning modeler, they ALL have their warts, but each one also has its particular charm. EDIT: To address the OP's specific question, as far as I recall right at the moment, Tamiya and Revell very rarely (if at all) subject-overlap, so the question is moot from my perspective.
  6. 10:31 PM EDT 8/4/24 Starting to hang just a bit when changing forum headings or threads, and some pix are slow to load, with that subtle flashing going on where the photos haven't appeared yet...
  7. "Disorder" doesn't begin to describe the mess my life is in currently, but I will prevail.
  8. Except for skinny people, and those of healthy, normal weight, everyone is fat.
  9. Indeed. And a hearty WELL DONE to Dave and his minions. Inquiring minds wanna know...what did the problem turn out to be?
  10. Space doesn't exist and the Earth is flat and gravity isn't real.
  11. Wild Wilhelmina worried and waited wistfully while her wet whoopie-wand was worked on by wonderful wizards of the wonky Western whirlwind who went to Washington on Wednesdays.
  12. Wow. I thought I knew my flathead schmidtz, but I've never seen that one before. Thanks.
  13. Minimum cognitive ability for US military service, determined by standardized testing, was established during the First World War.
  14. 08:59 EST Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024. Nice and fast, like the old days.
  15. Workout routines can build muscle mass, strength, cardiovascular fitness, help with weight-loss, or all four.
  16. This thread is a mild brain exercise.
  17. What irked me today was several "adults" who are just flat incapable of accepting responsibility for their own careless actions, but make excuses as valid as "the dog ate my homework". These are not young adults, either, so this isn't generation-bashing.
  18. That could be part of the problem. People don't seem to realize that if you poison the bugs, you poison everything that eats bugs, and everything that eats the creatures that eat bugs too. DDT almost destroyed the eagle population, but nobody apparently remembers that. Read Rachel Carson's Silent Spring. Same goes for poisoning rats and mice. And environmental toxins are having devastating effects on frogs and other amphibians. The data is clear for anyone to read. https://www.froglife.org/2024/05/01/croaking-science-amphibians-and-chemical-pollution/ Kinda funny with all the existential-planetary-crisis hysteria going around, there's so much total ignorance too. There are any number of ways of dealing with "pests" that are eco-friendly and don't kill creatures higher on the food chain.
  19. AI just is a tool like any other. It CAN be a tremendous boon to mankind. It's only "theft" if it's used for theft by the unscrupulous. Unfortunately, there's no shortage of unscrupulous techies willing to do anything to line their pockets or enhance their power and influence. Kindof a pity "Asimov's Laws of Robotics" aren't implemented in reality.
  20. Just another one of the reasons I'm not a fan of Bezos. Responsibility for deceptive business practices goes all the way to the top. In other news: my bank was able to back-trace the 2 bogus transactions that went through before we locked the account, and the stolen funds have been returned. PEOPLE NEED TO WATCH ALL THEIR ACCOUNTS.
  21. Got to the PO as the doors opened this AM. System was down. Hung around, finally got a supervisor to, apparently, manually check where my "delivered" package went. He said it went to #### Addison Rd., instead of #### My Rd., and that he'd get my regular driver (who is very good but was off yesterday) to retrieve it and get it to me. On the way home I drove all the way down Addison Rd. There is NO ####. We'll see.
  22. Hmmmmmm...seems like I remember a little glitch in the system a few days back. Anybody ever hear of CrowdStrike? But wait...there's more !!! https://www.aol.com/forget-crowdstrike-cfos-worry-looming-105247095.html
  23. Derby hats, like most other hats, look silly under water.
  24. 09:39 EST Friday, 8-2-24 PLENTY FAST RIGHT NOW, WORKING LIKE IT SHOULD EDIT: 09:55 starting to hang again...
