A while back I saw here on the forum where somebody had scored an ancient 1/24 scale Hawk W163 Mercedes for next to nothing...and it was complete with a display engine. I had several acquired over many years, and NOT ONE had the engine. So this was a kinda impulse purchase. 100% complete, engine and all (though most of the parts are off the sprues), nothing buggered, even decent decals and an excellent box, and not a terrible price considering what some folks are asking.

Intermittent heavy rains for a couple days, soaked tree came down, took out my power late last night. Called it in, the power company had me back online within an hour and a half. The electric cooperative I belong to is really really good about repairs like this, and I have some of the lowest electricity rates in the country. As always, I'm appreciative whenever I get to deal with a company that delivers outstandingly competent service at realistic prices. Happily for me, the fall missed my big trailer by about 10 feet...but I've got a lot of chainsawing to do when things dry out.

There's no single source as far as I'm aware. When I got back into car modeling around 2005, it took me quite literally years to figure out what I'd missed, what was current production and what was vintage, and what kits were worth buying and which ones were essentially plastic scrap. Cruise around on this site a lot, and don't be shy about asking questions. There are many knowledgeable and friendly people here who'll gladly steer you in the right direction. Just don't believe all the "expert" advice, however. And welcome to the forum.

Clean your feet and other bits that are prone to stinking.

Some few years back, somebody gave me a bunch of B&D rechargeable-battery tools. I thought it was a nice score until I tried to actually use them. Pretend "tools", from my perspective. Decades ago the brand made decent stuff. Typical. Buy the name, cheapen the product as much as possible while "offshoring" production, run it into the ground. Happily for me, most of my 30 to 50 year-old US-made tools still work fine. EDIT: Somehow, we need to break the popular illusion that cheap offshore-made goods are actually worth buying. You don't always get what you pay for, but you ALWAYS pay for what you get. Quality costs more.
