  1. Cats, being naturally inquisitive, sometimes get themselves in uncomfortable situations. One of the ferals I feed got into the back "shop" part of the house last evening while I was offloading some tools. I didn't know it until much later when I heard something crash, went back to investigate, heard a scuffling (which I assumed to be a racoon), then saw a pair of frightened orange eyes looking at me from somewhere I couldn't possibly reach...a ridiculous space between two roof slopes a previous "renovation" had left. I recognized it as one of my familiars, tried to get it out for hours, finally gave up and went to bed. Took the day off, spent most of today trying to get it calm enough to leave under its own power, finally managed to get it gone at about 5:00 PM. It seems to be fine, as it was up on the front porch eating just a few minutes ago. Happy ending.
  2. Analysis requires applied intelligence.
  3. Fernando Pinto 1/24 1966 Porsche 906 LeMans longtail... ...and a Gary Doucette 1/25 '56 Kuzma Indy roadster in Dean Van Lines livery. Eddie Kuzma was a wizard car constructor along the lines of Watson and Kurtis.
  4. I just received the Fernando Pinto longtail. It has an engine, some suspension, etc. It's a high-effort resin kit with tremendous potential...either to build a gorgeous model, or make a righteous mess.
  5. Applied intelligence, rational thought, and logic would go a long way towards solving a lot of problems.
  6. Nice reference shots, with info on wing finish... https://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/north-american-p-51d-mustang-in-detail-revisited-part-2-wings-and-tails/ ...and more discussion of the puttied-and-painted wings (my take being that late war production aircraft, or combat damaged-and-repaired aircraft likely dispensed with the time-consuming wing finish operations) https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/82849-mustang-wing-panel-linesfrom-the-preeminent-mustang-restorers-point-of-view/page/7/
  7. You can still find it, but most of those who have it want lotsa money. This one rattlecan is $60, but Testors metalizers were the only game in town for metal aircraft modelers for decades. https://www.ebay.com/itm/374450594973?epid=1700131514&hash=item572efea49d:g:IkUAAOSwRr5jvEfj&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoHwyo9ls990MKHsly6tGmxxvOjIDaIbHrt0Iv6ZIGR51MFFiXmI9lx2FIzXfX9GcliIAMjS3ladiYVm3UoqSKrIeocL6ui2NJ6VGiHP0gLBfh7VwmDJwMURVajRkhwvEMAOTfIcEQ1XLgltkNxW9kQPg0K%2BUB1Jg5m5GJOms5XQa6GWJfcIaIUmskNINTq5KDiRLqAwPWVsMQUu5VQS8KgQ%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9zoyoa4YQ
  8. Depends on the look you're going for. Bare metal would be best represented by old Testors "aluminum plate" buffing metalizer if you have any. The cowl, below:
  9. "Appreciated" is not always the reaction to advice offered in the spirit of helping fellow modelers, no matter how knowledgeable it may be; it can also get one labeled as a show-off narcissist "know-it-all".
  10. I think I have raccoons in the attic, and most assuredly bats in the belfry.
  11. Hmmmmm. I guess my several 1/24 P-51s, P-40, two P-47s, several Spitfires (one on floats), Stuka, Harrier, Zero, two Hueys, Hellcat, Hurricane, Bf-109, FW-190, Hughes 500, and several WW I aircraft (all injection molded styrene, not balsa kits) are figments of my imagination. EDIT: There are two of the DH Beavers on eBay right now. There is also this kit, which I don't have:
  12. Rotate your tires, rotate your stock, and rotate your crops: always good advice
  13. Manger references in that context smack of religion, in clear violation of the rules, and I'm telling MOMMY!!!!!!!.
  14. Found this one:
  15. Always good to see somebody building something cool from an old and much maligned kit. She's looking great.
  16. Thanks for the heads-up.

  18. Exactly. I'm closing out my part of a multi-year '66 Chevelle SS pro-touring build. My last big job is header fabrication, as due to the engine location, nothing off-the-shelf will work. But there are still countless details and loose ends to tie up to get her to work, to start, to run, to drive like a "real" car. You know.
  19. Did. Since I started actually getting to know them prior to getting involved, it hasn't been a problem. What a concept.
