  1. Another HO train score, a decent size box of structure kits, freight car kits, some scenery material, and a couple of nicely weathered built-up freight cars with metal wheels, sprung trucks, and Kadees. Just the NIB Bar Mills Staton Marine kit and the 3-fer Accurail gondola kit would have set me back considerably more on feePay than I paid for the whole mess. Looking forward to a pleasant evening of opening all the boxes and looking at the contents.
  2. Appear and disappear is SOP for the Cheshire Cat and most other felines I've known.
  3. Nowhere, man; that jive cat is like nowhere in the overall scheme of things.
  4. I know what it is, but it looks like an NSU Prinz 4 and a Citroen DS had a little nipper...
  5. That was my reaction. Only caveat: I've found that some colors seem to be more susceptible to fisheyes from mild surface contamination than materials I've used that have hotter solvents. 70% isopropyl cleaning prior to shooting alleviates the tendency.

  9. People who eat people have a difficult time finding restaurants that cater to their culinary preferences.
  10. I slept late. No alarm, no work today. Nice to be a lazy old geezer occasionally.
  11. Rocket cars driven in neighborhoods tend to get a lot of complaints from HOA members.
  12. I'm more anal than that. Pretty much everything I build is something I'd like to build in 1:1 if I win the lottery and live forever, so, having driven a lot of rods and race cars that are really really uncomfortable, I get kinda crazy fitting people into my models.
  13. As far as I'm concerned, absolutely. I've been using a seated 1/24 driver figure (from the ancient Monogram Indy car kit) named Lefty (because he lost his right arm at one point...but I found it) for years to keep me honest. Being 1/24, he works as an average sized driver in that scale, and a big guy in 1/25. Depending on the build, I'll rearrange his arms and legs and feet and seating angle.
  14. Awhile and a while are often confused, but they don't mean the same thing.
  15. Just because a guy doesn't hammer you into the ground the first time you cross him, that's no guarantee that you can walk all over him with impunity indefinitely.
  16. Expensive (and not so expensive) real estate developments near racing venues and small airports have ended most dragstrips, airstrips, and circle tracks in my area over the last decade or two.
  17. "This smart system can't be that stupid. You must be prompting it wrong"
  18. Enjoyment of seeing full sentences posted in this thread is intermittent at best.
  19. Life is very much what you make it, but evil people can derail even the best laid plans, and negate decades of preparation and sacrifice.
  20. Teenager-think is often easy to manipulate, because youth tends to lack the skepticism that develops with age and experience.
  21. There was a thread about this kind of stuff a while back.
