That MPC kit makes a beautiful model. It captures the stance and proportions of the real car pretty much perfectly, as the box-art shot of the built model shows. Being in 1/20 scale, it's a semi-orphan, but Accurate Miniatures made several 1/24 versions of the McLaren M8B as well. They are beautiful, very highly detailed kits, and challenging.

'Cause it's a spectacular car, one of the most significant race cars in the history of the planet? Only four single cars have ever won LeMans twice, and old chassis# 1075 GT40 is one of them. And as far as I'm concerned, you can never have too much GT40 stuff.

I'd love to see photos of your kitbash if you happen to have any easily available, Art.. Please feel free to put them in this thread if you do.

Some comparison measurements taken from the new Revell model: On the model, this one comes in at around 38" This next dimension on the model is about 10.25", giving us a nominal chop of 3".

That appears to be a Mk I to me. Same as the '68-'69 winning car shown above. The Mk IV is an almost entirely different car, based on the J-car chassis. LeMans miniatures did models of both Mk I and Mk IV. This is a Mk IV.

Taco Bell (should have bought stock); Krystal (about the same as White Castle); Steak 'n Shake; McD's extra greasy breakfast steak and cheese bagel. I'll only eat fast food once a week on average, actually eat home-cooked healthful stuff mostly...just too much of it. We have a couple of good Indian places, but they're not really take-away, and certainly not "fast".

Look at a lot of pix of A bodies sitting on deuce rails, and pay attention to where the forward edge of the body goes in relation to the rising end of the reveal on the frame. Pay attention to where the rear fender arch ends up relative to the rising line at the rear of the reveal as well. You may have to split the difference or adjust otherwise. Subtle differences can have a significant effect on the first impression.Watch the hood length too. You may need to shorten the hood to get the right look...or you might not. The '32 frame is about a 2" longer wheelbase than the model-A frame (some modelers think that because it's only 2mm at the size of the model it's insignificant...it's not) that would normally be under the tub, so the scale discrepancies may work to your advantage. Take care mocking up the suspension exactly before you commit to placing the body in a specific location, and mock up the grille and headlights too. Stance and proportion are everything on one of these...or any hot rod...and they make the difference between a "wow!!" car and a goofy one.

Just make sure it has your name on it...big...so nobody thinks I built it. Far as abandoning this one goes, unless I die, I'll try to finish it...at some point. I have "in progress" models on the shelves that go back several years already (not abandoned, just resting )
