I love enamel paints, and when Testors went crazy expanding their Model Master line, I was in hog heaven. I still search for them, provided the price is very reasonable, but today I was astounded by what I saw. A seller had a jar of paint priced at only $3.13, which caught my attention, but shipping from Italy was $62.31. He's got a couple more listed the same way. I know Canadian shipping is ridiculous, but who in their right mind would even consider buying this? And why would the seller think anybody'd jump on that?

Thanks. I was asking Zoom Zoom how this new Base White in a shorter can differed from Fine White Surface Primer.

The Model Master P/N for Olds Engine Blue is 2729. HTH. -
I'm not all that familiar with Tamiya products. Can you elaborate on the difference(s) between this and their Fine Surface Primer?

Some JoHan kits go for over $300.00 on ebay.

The new owners of Spotlights Hobbies (formerly Hobby Heaven) may be interested, as the former owner (Tom Carter) used purchases of collections to increase his business. In addition, while I'm not 100% sure of this, I've heard Model Roundup may also buy collections. A note of caution: you may find a huge variance between what you think the collection is worth and what someone is willing to offer.

Once again, the WIP is well worth any modeler's time. Love the innovations (wing supports, brass wing, in-house decal replacement and panel line treatments). Question: are you basically using stippling to create the vinyl roof texture?

How to make high detailed engines?
Monty replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You need to spend some time learning the basics of ignition, cooling and charging before taking on any attempts at underhood detailing. Once you've got that, reference pictures will make more sense and you can use them optimize your efforts. -

This. Glad you were able to figure out the cause of the issues you experienced. A lot of us would've considered perma-boxing this thing early on. -
Tamiya Lacquer paint question
Monty replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for your response. That's the kind of info I was hoping to get. -
1) Indulge me: All I want is an answer to this question. Please spare me the "Why don't you try..." stuff. 2) I'd prefer to hear from those who've actually tried this. Speculation doesn't accomplish anything. If I sprayed a model car body with Tamiya White Fine Surface Primer, what kind of result could I expect if I followed that with their TS-65 Pearl Clear?

I've never used this kinda stuff before but I'm going to need some soon. What I'm really hoping to find is a fluid that provides a great masking line but is still easy to remove when the painting is over. Pics of stuff you've done with your stated liquid mask would be greatly appreciated.

I found this pic on my favorite car forum. The caption occurred to me immediately.

How do I know what Tamiya paint I have?
Monty replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Maybe Model Master Arctic Blue if you can still find some. -
I'm not a big fan of most greens but that shade rocks. Is it MM Mystic Emerald? If not, what? Congrats on a very nice build!

How do I know what Tamiya paint I have?
Monty replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Metal flake is generally a much larger flake and is typically used on things like bass boats and dune buggies. I'm not sure Tamiya even offers an actual metal flake paint, but they do have more subtle options, which will be indicated by the words "metallic" or "mica". What does it say on the can? If you want an actual metal flake paint, many of the Model Master lacquers have that exaggerated flake size. Lastly, almost any metal flake or metallic paint is going to be glossy, so your best bet there might be to spray semi-gloss clear over your chosen color. -

Yeah, the livery looked familiar, but the name wasn't. I got curious and looked the cigarettes up. Hmmm. Neat little build though. -

The video I referenced mentioned the wheels are available from Andy's Hobby Headquarters https://andyshhq.com/ -
Just curious if anyone has the new Aoshima Firestone Wide Oval tires. I wasn't even aware they were out there till I saw them mentioned on a recent Luka Cee YouTube video. They come with some nice Cragar S/S wheels or chrome 5-slots, which, unfortunately, are 4-luggers. In the video, the package appears to contain a piece of paper. Anyone know if it's the backing paper for tire lettering decals? If you have a set, I'd appreciate seeing an up-close pic or two of them.

I don't know much about this stuff but I assume it's Outlook.
