Great build! The paint really stands out. Can I ask which specific paint you used (ex: Model Master #1619)?

Any US sources for Gunner Sangyo enamel paints?
Monty replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Should be Gunze Sangyo. Can’t post what I think of autocorrect. -
A quick search showed me that MCW offers at least three options for burgundy in their enamel line. If anyone has used any of them, I'd love to see pics as well as learn what you thought of the paint/process itself.

Looks like it got both of us.

Back in the early '80s I had a chance to buy a stock version of this car from a local used car dealer. It was the same color as yours and in overall excellent shape, but I didn't think I could swing the price. I still regret that. Congrats on a great build! Can I ask what exact paint you used (ex: Model Master #1619)?

Apparently I'm too boring for ghosts to bother with, but my younger brother had a very unusual encounter. I asked him to write it up and send it to me. This all takes place in Dallas TX about a decade ago. I lived about a mile from him.

Has anyone airbrushed FolkArt Metallic paints?
Monty replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Bart, thanks for your response and accompanying photos. That old 'Vette turned out nice. I rely on Barbatos Rex's videos for info on paints and techniques. He did at least one video on using cheap craft paints, which he reduced with windshield washer fluid. I may do an experiment and try using Mr Color Leveling Thinner, as he has used it with enamels, lacquers and some acrylics. The procedure you mention is more or less how he sprays acrylics, so I'll make a mental note of it. -

I think I remember a car you built a couple years ago (Cutlass?) that you painted with craft paints. I was impressed with the depth and overall appearance of the finish, and kinda surprised it was from a craft acrylic. My post is an attempt to get some basic info so I can try this stuff with confidence. -
I saw a shade at Hobby Lobby today that looked like a factory color I've been wanting, but I don't have much experience spraying acrylics. 1) What's the best reducer for this paint? 2) What air pressure would you recommend? 3) Will I need a flow additive to prevent tip-dry? Any other tips would be welcome, as would pics of car/truck bodies painted with FolkArt metallics.

Dear model gods, as your humble servant, I beseech you to grant us newly tooled ‘72 Torino fastback and ‘71-‘74 AMX kits. If time permits, some Cadillac kits would not be unwelcome. I’m welcome. ?

One of the first well-done JoHan builds I ever saw. I still stop and check it out whenever it gets posted.

Thanks to the OP for coming up with such a great thread idea, not to mention all who've participated. Lotsa fantastic builds in this thread. I know I'm not the only one who's been kicking himself for years for passing over so many of those kits when they were available, sometimes at extremely cheap prices. As for StevenGuthmiller, When you've got me looking at late-'50s cars, you've obviously done an amazing job. I'll always wonder if anyone associated with JoHan knew how well their kits could turn out in the hands of someone who could paint and detail them at this level.

MPC 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, in Metallic Red.
Monty replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
MPC definitely didn't do anyone any favors with some of the design and fit elements of this kit, so kudos for taking on a tough build and knocking it out of the park. -
Those of you who build American performance cars are probably already aware of the great variety of high quality white letter tire decals available from Fireball Modelworks. Last time I checked he had around three pages of listings, ranging from very popular tires to some of the more obscure brands. Today I happened to come across another tire decal maker who also has a fairly extensive listing, including a number of decals for brands and tire models not offered by Fireball. https://rayskits.com/white-letter-tire-decals/ In addition, he also offers complete body/dash/under hood decal sheets for some of the more popular cars of the past. Definitely worth a look. As they both offer their decals in 1/24 and 1/25 (possibly others), you should now be able to replicate the majority of white letter tires you've come across.

Weird how this only started yesterday for me.

As of last night, the "Prev" and "Next" don't react to being clicked on. My mouse/cursor don't have any issues on the other sites I frequent.

I love enamel paints, and when Testors went crazy expanding their Model Master line, I was in hog heaven. I still search for them, provided the price is very reasonable, but today I was astounded by what I saw. A seller had a jar of paint priced at only $3.13, which caught my attention, but shipping from Italy was $62.31. He's got a couple more listed the same way. I know Canadian shipping is ridiculous, but who in their right mind would even consider buying this? And why would the seller think anybody'd jump on that?

Thanks. I was asking Zoom Zoom how this new Base White in a shorter can differed from Fine White Surface Primer.

The Model Master P/N for Olds Engine Blue is 2729. HTH. -
I'm not all that familiar with Tamiya products. Can you elaborate on the difference(s) between this and their Fine Surface Primer?

Some JoHan kits go for over $300.00 on ebay.
