Thank you guys, for all the nice comments.

I really like this kit, heaps of options, very nice molding .This build was out of the box except for plug wires. I lowered the rear, made some basic hinges for the trunk and shot it with Tamiya mica blue from the can with clear on top and a polish. I'm happy with the result, I'd love the 1:1 version in my garage !

I,m loving your build. Here is one of the many that drag raced in Australia in the 70's, 1st pic,and how it is today.

I would so love to add this series of Ford Falcon (un-butchered )to my collection. Please, "Round Two " ? The various Nova kits have been good sellers, I think the Ford version will also do well. -
those Hornet coupes were a very stylish car. Great score mate.

I just received these today ,Feebay purchases and the price was fair. Great kits, and I already have a couple of convertibles. These kits may or may not be produced again so I'm happy to have them in my stash. I love Ford Falcons !

Nice job Tim, It's got the look .

I see what you mean, but oddly enough I owned a 1:1 HQ Monaro years ago with the seat reclining mech badly worn & the seatback would often jump back a couple of notches after a hard launch. LOL (added bit of realism ? )

Lacquer reducer is "hot" and will almost always react with enamel , Enamel will go over other paints with no crazing as it uses a much milder reducer. (mineral turps etc. ) As Mike stated, the paint job will strip easy. Perhaps the hood didn't react because you may have applied the top coat using a lighter "drier" technique ? It's all part of learning and will trip-up anyone now & then.

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

I know what you're saying, I have the mod stocker kit and it's totally butchered (body & chassis) sigh ! -
Yes I agree with the above suggestions. I'd wet sand with 800 /1000 and re-coat clear with more thinner less air pressure then polish when thoroughly dry.

That Falcon is just "bad ass" in jacked up gasser or restomod low. I just wish "round 2" would do a re-issue on the original version. I'd be in for a 6 pack ! -

My stash from 50 years of building & buying, approx 1100, I'll never build them all. They sure look good on display, I enjoy building & just looking at the box art etc. They mostly were stored in cartons until I got a dedicated hobby room. Now I can fully enjoy them. The steel shelving are 2 deep. -

Great looking stash Chris ! -
That kit was also found as "son of ford" with the original Pontiac engine dressed with injection and headers with huge collector dumps, roll bar etc. for the drag version in this release. I'm liking that grape color on yours.

After all these years I have finally got a plastic kit of a Holden. It has basic chassis detail but well done, pre-wired distributor, metal transfers, looks like Zero flash, accurate body proportions. The way the kit is packaged and presented is outstanding ! The box is very solid and hinged, all the parts are well separated ( no crushed & distorted bodyshell ). I paid $69 Aus. With the cost of a Craftsman "64 Galaxie kit ( which is curbside) at $60 Aus. This kit is a bargain.

Most Round 2 & Revell USA. new releases are hitting our shelves at approx $65 Aus. With the ridiculous increase in worldwide shipping since Covid 19, I guess the price had to go up. I always try to buy several kits together when the online hobbyshops have a sale. No LHS in my area.

Rustoleum paints are terrible.
ozmodeler replied to James Maynard's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
With the cost of model kits these days ,dump the furniture paint and buy Tamiya hobby spray cans or use an airbrush.
